  • It was investigated that two rods of aluminium can be welded by hot extru-pressure welding method with stepped welding dies, and that the welding pressure on the welding surface were analyzed by computer simulation according to the stepped shapes of welding dies. It was known by computer simulation that welding pressure on the welding section of rods welded using stepped welding dies. And it was known by experime- nts that two rods of aluminium can be welded on the end sections by hot pressure welding method using stepped welding dies without relative rotational movement of contacted aluminium rods needed for the purpose of friction heating and pressure.

  • In cold forging, the final product is usually given by multi-stage process and the preform with stepped shape can be manufactured through the various forging method. The forward extrusion and upsetting processes for preform with stepped shape have been analyzed by using the rigid-plastic finite element analysis code, InteFORM and compared for load and stroke according to ae reduction of weを An engineer should select the proper processes considering the capacity and the stroke of the corresponding press in the forging of the preform with stepped shape.

  • In this paper, the design formulas for bandpass filters using parallel coupled stepped impedance resonators(SIR) are derived. General content about basic feature of stepped impedance resonators(SIR) is represented. The filters and duplexer using stepped impedance resonators(SIR) have been designed and realized with the presented design method at IMT-2000 frequency band Simulations have used serenade circuit simulation and HFSS EM-simulation. We were showed excellent agreements between SIR design theory and simulation results on the multi-layer filter/duplexer.

  • This paper presents an efficient dynamic modeling method for multi-stepped rotor system using effective spring elements to take into account the structural weakening effect due to the steps. This paper demonstrates that the Timoshenko shaft model give rise to a significant error in the case of multi-stepped rotors. An effective bending spring model is introduced to represent the structural weakening effect in the presence of steps. The proposed modeling method is validated through a series of simulations and experiments. Finally, a spindle is dealt with as an analysis example.

  • The Timoshenko beam model has been acknowledged as the most accurate model for representing beam structures. However, the Timoshenko beam model may give rise to significant error when it is applied to multi-stepped beam structures. This paper is intended to demonstrate and improve the modeling error of Timoshenko beam theory for multi-stepped team structures. A tentative bending spring is introduced to represent the stiffness change around a step in beams. This paper proposes a finite element modeling method in the light with the bending spring. The proposed method is rigorously compared with commercial finite element codes. The validity of the proposed method is also demonstrated through an experiment..

Two-dimensional modeling of stepped planing hulls with open and pressurized air cavities

  • A method of hydrodynamic discrete sources is applied for two-dimensional modeling of stepped planing surfaces. The water surface deformations, wetted hull lengths, and pressure distribution are calculated at given hull attitude and Froude number. Pressurized air cavities that improve hydrodynamic performance can also be modeled with the current method. Presented results include validation examples, parametric calculations of a single-step hull, effect of trim tabs, and performance of an infinite series of periodic stepped surfaces. It is shown that transverse steps can lead to higher lift-drag ratio, although at reduced lift capability, in comparison with a stepless hull. Performance of a multi-step configuration is sensitive to the wave pattern between hulls, which depends on Froude number and relative hull spacing.

  • A Stepped beam with immovable ends under forced vibrations with large amplitude is investigated by using the finite element method and the Ritz vectors. Unlike the Eigen vectors, the Ritz vectors are generated by a simple recurrence relation. Moreover the Ritz vectors yield much faster convergence with respect to the number of vectors used than the use of Eigen vectors. The computer program is developed for nonlinear analysis using Ritz vectors instead of Eigen vectors and numerical examples are analysed for deflections and natural frequencies of stepped beam under various support conditions. Results show that the proposed method is valid and efficient.

  • 역 합성 개구면 레이더(Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar: ISAR) 영상은 레이더를 이용해 전자기파를 방사하여 표적에 맞고 다시 되돌아오는 신호를 이용하여 형성할 수 있으며, 표적의 유무 판별과 식별을 위해 사용하는 보편적인 수단중 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 계단 첩 파형(Stepped Chrip Waveform: SCW)의 주파수 영역에서의 합성과 서브-샘플링(sub-sampling) 방법을 이용하여 초점이 맞는 고해상도의 ISAR 영상을 형성하는 방법을 소개한다. 기존의 계단 주파수 파형(stepped freuqnecy waveform)을 이용하는 방법은 낮은 펄스 반복 주기로 인하여 비모호 거리(unambiguous range)가 짧아 고스트(ghost) 현상이 발생하는 문제점이 발생하지만, 이는 SCW를 이용한 ISAR 영상 형성 방법을 통해 해결할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 산란점들로 구성된 보잉-737 표적이 속도와 가속도를 가지고 움직인다고 가정한 후 제안한 방법으로 고해상도의 ISAR 영상을 형성하였다.

Stability and minimum bracing for stepped columns with semirigid connections: Classical elastic approach

  • Stability equations that evaluate the elastic critical axial load of stepped columns under extreme and intermediate concentrated axial loads in any type of construction with sidesway totally inhibited, partially inhibited and uninhibited are derived in a classical manner. These equations can be utilized in the stability analysis of framed structures (totally braced, partially braced, and unbraced) with stepped columns with rigid, semirigid, and simple connetions. The proposed column classification and the corresponding stability equations overcome the limitations of current methods which are based on a classification of braced and unbraced columns. The proposed stability equations include the effects of: 1) semirigid connections; 2) step variation in the column cross section at the point of application of the intermediate axial load; and 3) lateral and rotational restraints at the intermediate connection and at the column ends. The proposed method consists in determining the eigenvalue of a $2{\times}2$ matrix for a braced column at the two ends and of a $3{\times}3$ matrix for a partially braced or unbraced column. The stability analysis can be carried out directly with the help of a pocket calculator. The proposed method is general and can be extended to multi-stepped columns. Various examples are include to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and to verify that the calculated results are exact. Definite minimum bracing criteria for single stepped columns is also presented.

계단형 외팔보의 등가보 변환에 의한 기본고유진동수 해석 (Fundamental Natural Frequency Analysis of Stepped Cantilever Beams by Equivalent Beam Transformation Technique)

  • 보의 고유진동수는 진동해석 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 동적특성을 파악하는데 중요한 역할을 한다 보의 단면이 불연속적으로 변하는 계단형 보의 고유진동수 해석은 복잡하다. 이런 계단형 보의 진동해석은 Rayleigh-Ritz법, FEM 등과 같은 근사해석법이 흔히 사용되는데 이들 해석의 정확성은 분할요소의 수, 계산의 반복수, 가정처짐곡선의 형상에 따라 좌우된다. 본 연구에서는 계단형 외팔보의 등가보 변환 방법을 이용한 기본고유진동수의 근사해석방법을 제시하고자 하였으며 여러 예제에 대하여 제안방법과 유한요소해석 결과를 비교하여 그 적용성과 신뢰성을 검증하였다.
