Measurement of plastic anisotropy of cold rolled steel sheets using electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT를 이용한 냉연강판의 소성이방성 측정)

  • Ultrasonic sensor for evaluating plastic anisotropy was developed. Magnetostrictive type EMAT is sensor to transmit and receive the Lamb wave using magnetostriction. It is suitable for on line processing because of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic without contact ODCs(orientation distribution coefficients), W $_{400}$. W $_{420}$. W $_{440}$. were respectively calculated using zeroth order Lamb wave velocities, the calculated ODCs was used for evaluating plastic anisotropy, the results was compared for mean values of destructive tests. Besides, the Lorentz EMAT for generating longitudinal wave and two shear waves simultaneously and the Lorentz type EMAT for measuring SH wave velocities were made. ODCs were calculated using the measured resonant modes and velocities. the results of two methods show possibility of an line processing measurement.

  • ISO 13784-1 sandwich panel tests were conducted by FILK, KICT in Korea and SP in Sweden. Sandwich panels composed of steel sheets, EPS and glass wool supplied by FILK were tested. And in parallel, the same materials were tested using ISO TS17431 model box tests at GBRC and TUS in Japan.

  • Recently, the usage of aluminum alloy is rapidly increasing in automobile industry to achieve weight reduction for fuel efficiency. However, design of forming process of aluminum is more difficult than steel because of poor formability and severe springback. Since applications of finite element analysis for the design of sheet metal forming process are actively performed, it is required to conduct proper consideration of aluminum material behavior. In this study, a plane stress yield function Yld2000(Yoon et al., 2000), proven to describe well the anisotropic behavior of aluminum alloy, is implemented for FE analysis. One element test is considered to verify the validity of implementation of Yld2000 model. In addition, cylindrical cup drawing test is performed to verify earing shape of a drawn cup.

  • The center floor is a part of underbody of cars. The assembling method is mostly a resistant spot welding. But the resistant spot welding has many demerits in productivity such as low welding speed, large spatter occurring, hard to verify the welding quality. The laser welding has many merits such as high welding speed, high static and dynamic weld strength. So the laser welding has been studied to substituted the resistant spot welding. Therefore, in this study, as a pre-evaluation stage for replacing the resistance spot welding with laser in production of automobile parts, the weldability of cold rolled and zinc coated steel sheets is studied and also evaluated the weld strength by the tensile shear test. And the shape of weld bead appearances and micro structure of the weld bead section is also evaluated.

Trend in development of hot-rolled steel sheets for automotive application (자동차용 열연강판의 개발현황 및 동향)

  • 자동차용 열연강판은 그 용도에 따라 매우 다양한 제품특성이 요구되고 있다. 즉 고강도 및 고강성, 우수한 피로특성, 용접성 및 내식성 등이 요구되고 있다. 이중에서도 고강도화는 향후 자동차의 경량화와 더불어 안전성을 동시에 확보하기 위해 매우 필요한 기술이다. 고강도화에 가장 많은 노력이 이루어졌던 wheel용 강재의 경우, 기존에는 60kg급 강재가 주종을 이루었으나, 일본등에서는 80kg급 강재의 시험생산 및 실차 test가 진행되는 등 소재공급사와 자동차제조사와의 공동노력에 의해 많은 기술개발이 이루어져 왔다. 더우기 96년 6월 일본철강연맹 규격에는 자동차용 열간압연 강판으로 80kg급 강재가 등록이 됨으로서 향후 고강도강의 소요가 크게 증가될 전망이다. 또한 근래 상용화가 활발하게 진행되고 있는 열연 TRIP강의 경우 기존의 개념을 넘어서는 고강도 및 고연성, 우수한 가공선과 더불어 우수한 피로특성을 보이고 있어 향후 동 소재의 사용확대가 크게 기대되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 좋은 철강소재의 개발과 이의 적용은 강재제조기술과 더불어 이의 적정 가공기술 그리고 독자적인 설계기술등이 연계되어야만 비로소 이루어질 수 있다. 이를 위해 소재공급사와 자동차제조사간에 지속적인 기술개발을 위한 공동노력이 이루어져야 되리라 생각된다.

  • 물리기상증착을 이용하여 알루미늄(Al)과 마그네슘(Mg)의 조성이 다른 2층 구조를 갖는 박막을 강판 위에 코팅한 후 열처리를 실시하여 박막의 미세구조 변화와 합금상을 관찰하였다. Al-Mg 코팅강판의 내부식성을 평가하여 Al-Mg 코팅층의 미세구조와 합금상 변화가 내부식 특성에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. Al-Mg 박막의 조성은 Al 박막과 Mg 박막의 증착율과 두께 변화를 이용하여 조절하였다. 대기 중에서 350, 400, $450^{\circ}C$의 온도로 2, 3, 10분 동안 열처리를 실시하였다. Al-Mg 코팅 강판은 열처리를 실시하면 치밀한 구조로 변화하였으며 Al-Mg 코팅층 내부에 작을 알갱이 구조가 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 열처리를 통해서 Al-Mg 합금상이 생성되었다. 합금상의 생성으로 Al-Mg 코팅강판의 내식성에도 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다.

  • 전자빔 증착을 이용하여 알루미늄(Al)과 마그네슘(Mg)의 2층 구조를 갖는 박막을 강판 위에 코팅한 후 열처리를 실시하여 박막의 미세구조 변화와 합금상을 관찰하고 Al-Mg 코팅 강판의 내부식 특성을 평가하였다. 이를 통해서 Al-Mg 박막의 미세구조와 합금상이 Al-Mg 코팅 강판의 내부식 특성에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. Al-Mg 박막의 조성은 Al 박막과 Mg 박막의 두께 변화를 이용하여 조절하였으며 Al-Mg 박막의 두께비는 각각 1:1(Al:Mg), 2:1, 5:1 이었다. 열처리 온도는 $400^{\circ}C$, 열처리 시간은 2, 3, 10분 이었다. Al-Mg 코팅 강판은 열처리를 실시하면 주상구조에서 치밀한 구조로 변화하였으며 Al-Mg 합금상이 생성되었으며 합금상은 $Al_3Mg_2$$Al_{12}Mg_{17} $ 이었다. 이러한 합금상의 생성으로 Al-Mg 박막의 미세구조가 변화하고 Al-Mg 코팅 강판의 내식성에도 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다.

Comparison of Transverse Flux Rotary Machines with Different Stator Core Topologies

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a comparison between two transverse flux rotary machines (TFRM) with different topologies of stator cores. Depending on how to make stator core with laminated steel sheets, the one topology is 'perpendicular stacking core' and the other is 'separated core'. Both of the two cores have been designed considering 3-dimensional (3-D) magnetic flux path with the same output power conditions, but the core losses are quite different and it causes different magnetic and thermal characteristics. For comparison of these two topologies of stator cores, therefore, core losses have been calculated and used as a heat source in no-load conditions, and the thermal stress has been also calculated. 3-D finite element method has been used for the magnetic field, thermal, and stress analysis to consider the 3-D flux path of the TFRM. After comparing the analysis results of the two topologies, experimental results are also presented and discussed.

  • The applications of the aluminum alloy sheets to the auto-body panels are dramatically increasing for weight reduction of the automobiles. However, low formability of the aluminum alloy sheet compare to the steel sheet can be obstacles in tool manufacturing process. Therefore, much of yield criteria for the anisotropic material such as the aluminum alloy sheet have been observed. In this study, the biaxial tensile test and FLD test for the aluminum alloy sheet are performed. The results are compared with Hill's 1948 and Hill's 1990 model by means of theoretical predictions. Finite element analysis also performed using the proposed method for the real panel.

  • This paper deals with introduction of testing equipments for the evaluation of dynamic tensile characteristics of auto-body steel sheets and the crashworthiness of auto-body members. The servo-hydraulic high speed material testing machine was developed for tensile tests at the intermediate strain rate to obtain the tensile material properties at the strain rate under 500/sec. The split Hopkinson bar apparatus using the elastic wave was developed for dynamic material characteristics at the high strain rate ranged from 1,000 to 10,000/sec. The servo-hydraulic high speed crash testing machine is the equipment for the evaluation of the collapse load and crashworthiness of auto-body members. High speed carrying truck crashes to specimen with the maximum velocity of 17 m/sec.
