Achieving the Agility of Human Resources Through Job Empowerment Practices and Job Satisfaction: Empirical Evidence from the Banking Sectors

  • Financial sectors, like other sectors with strict hierarchies, need help to be adaptive or agile enough to satisfy the needs of competitive situations. In this regard, this study aims to evaluate the influence of job satisfaction on the link between job empowerment practices and the agility of human resources and fills the gaps in the current literature. To fulfill these aims, the study employs data collected through a survey of 460 employees randomly selected across various levels of commercial banking. AMOS 25 was used to conduct a statistical data analysis by applying structural equation modelling to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed positive and direct associations between job empowerment practices, job satisfaction, and the agility of human resources. In addition, employee satisfaction served as a powerful intermediary between empowerment practices and the agility of human resources. This study is one of the first to analyze the association between these factors in this field. These results imply that banks should develop effective job empowerment strategies to increase employee job satisfaction, which can lead to a more agile workforce. As mentioned in this paper, it also has important and helpful implications for academics and banks.

Recovery Outcomes Following Laparoscopic Surgery in Overweight Rectal Cancer Patients (과체중 직장암 환자의 복강경 수술 회복성과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the recovery outcomes between a normal weight group (BMI<25) and an overweight group ($$BMI{\geq_-}25$$), who received laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer, to provide information for effective decision making. Methods: Data from 76 patients who received laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer in a university hospital were reviewed retrospectively from September 2004 to March 2007. Collected data were analyzed using Win SPSS 12.0. The recovery outcomes related to the operation were the length of the operation, the amount of bleeding during the operation, the length of stay in the recovery room, first bowel movement, the length of hospital stay, and complications. Results: There was no statistical difference between the two groups with regard to the recovery outcomes. Conclusion: From the above results, nursing information can be offered to help make effective decisions before the operation for overweight patients with rectal cancer who prefer laparoscopic surgery.

Correlation Analysis of Atmospheric Pollutants and Meteorological Factors Based on Environmental Big Data

  • With the acceleration of urbanization and industrialization, air pollution has become increasingly serious, and the pollution control situation is not optimistic. Climate change has become a major global challenge faced by mankind. To actively respond to climate change, China has proposed carbon peak and carbon neutral goals. However, atmospheric pollutants and meteorological factors that affect air quality are complex and changeable, and the complex relationship and correlation between them must be further clarified. This paper uses China's 2013-2018 high-resolution air pollution reanalysis open data set, as well as statistical methods of the Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) to calculate and visualize the design and analysis of environmental monitoring big data, which is intuitive and it quickly demonstrated the correlation between pollutants and meteorological factors in the temporal and spatial sequence, and provided convenience for environmental management departments to use air quality routine monitoring data to enable dynamic decision-making, and promote global climate governance. The experimental results show that, apart from ozone, which is negatively correlated, the other pollutants are positively correlated; meteorological factors have a greater impact on pollutants, temperature and pollutants are negatively correlated, air pressure is positively correlated, and the correlation between humidity is insignificant. The wind speed has a significant negative correlation with the six pollutants, which has a greater impact on the diffusion of pollutants.

Customer Experience Management: An Innovative Approach to Marketing and Business on the Fashion Retail Industry

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the issues involved in offering superior customer experience on fashion retail stores in Brazil. The approach used to access CEM (Customer Experience Management) issues was a special questionnaire with 23 questions, through a research with managers of three important brazilian fashion retail chains (focused on class A clients). Some statistical techniques were used for data processing. It was possible to analyze the aspects that impact on the customer experience and their relevance. it was possible to realize that CEM is effective in increasing productivity and, so, it can be used as a guideline matrix management in decision making to promote superior customer experiences. The classical management is usually conservative and avoids to deal with strategies that do not necessarily involve numbers. Dealing with intangible and so subtle experience is unusual and a huge challenge, but sometimes it is necessary to look beyond the obvious and accessible statistics. If CEM is a strategy to focus on operations and processes of a business around the customers experiences with the company, it is essential to structure it and find out its effectiveness.

The Difference of Hotel Brand Personality Perceived by F&B and Kitchen Employees between Local and International Deluxe Hotels in Seoul (국내 자생 호텔과 다국적 호텔의 식음료.조리 종사원 인지 브랜드 개성 차이)

  • The purpose of this study were to measure brand personalities of deluxe hotels in Seoul, and to identify the difference of brand personality between local and international hotels. The questionnaires developed for this study were distributed to 460 employees in kitchen and F&B departments of 11 deluxe hotels in Seoul. A total of 398 questionnaires were used for anaylsis(86.5%) and the statistical analyses were completed using SPSS Win(12.0) for descriptive analysis, reliability analysis and t-test, and AMOS(5.0) for confirmatory factor analysis. The results of this study showed that deluxe hotels have brand personalities relatively strong at 'affection', 'sophistication', 'competence' dimensions, and there was a significant difference by hotel nationality. The brand personality scores of international brand hotels perceived by employees were high at the 'excitement'(p<0.001), 'sophistication'(p<0.001), and 'competence'(p<0.01) dimensions, whereas local hotels were considered more obedient(p<0.01). Overall, it could be a key factor for successful brand management that establish a distinctive brand personality, and a localized brand personality measure will lead to more desirable decision making.

Priority Analysis of Supply Chain Risk Management for Business Using AHP (공급사슬 리스크 관리에 관한 우선순위 분석)

  • The Pandemic crisis caused by COVID-19 has raised awareness of the importance of supply chain risk management, such as the control of movement between countries and the simultaneous manufacturing paralysis in the world. Effective risk management within the supply chain of the company is a core competency in the global environment. Therefore, this study quantitatively analyzed the perspective of domestic large corporations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by using the hierarchical analysis method (AHP) to identify the factors that should be considered as the priority when establishing supply chain risk management plans for large and small business employees. In order to conduct the study, a survey was conducted on large corporations and small and medium enterprises in Gyeongnam and Busan, and AHP analysis was conducted using Microsoft 365 excel program. In addition, Mann-Whitney U test (independent sample-nonparametric test) was conducted using SPSS/18 version of statistical package program for comparative analysis between groups. As a result, the priority was highly evaluated in the order of financial ability, competitiveness, disaster in the overall priority evaluation. There were statistically significant differences in internal risk and strategic decision making of supply chain between groups. This suggests that fandemics such as COVID-19 can not be predicted, but strategic responses are needed to utilize opportunities expressed in the crisis through supply chain risk management and to increase the competitive advantage of domestic companies even in the crisis.

  • Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has led to a decline in restaurant visits, which in turn has changed the decision-making process of consumers. This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing visit intention during the COVID-19 endemic by employing the expanded theory of planned behavior. A total of 291 samples were collected through an online survey for the analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation path analysis were performed on the collected data using the Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) statistical program. The findings of the study revealed the positive effects of attitude and perceived behavioral control and the negative effects of subjective norms on desire. Second, desire played a mediating role between antecedent variables (attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control) and the visit intention. These findings are meaningful in that they expand the theory of planned behavior during the COVID-19 endemic based on factors that affect visit intention.

  • This research introduces an innovative approach to revolutionize inventory management strategies amid unpredictable demand and uncertainties. Introducing a Fuzzy Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model, enriched with the centroid defuzzification method and supervised machine learning, the study offers a comprehensive solution for optimized decision-making. The model transcends traditional inventory paradigms by seamlessly integrating fuzzy logic and advanced machine learning, emphasizing adaptability in fast-paced business landscapes. The research unfolds against the backdrop of agile inventory management advocacy, with key contributions including the centroid defuzzification method for crisp interpretation and the integration of linear regression for cost prediction. The study employs a real-life bakery scenario to demonstrate the efficacy of both crisp and fuzzy models, underscoring the latter's superiority in handling uncertainties. Comparative analysis reveals nuanced impacts of uncertainty on inventory decisions, while linear regression establishes statistical relationships for cost predictions.   • Significant research has been devoted to the consistency index of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) from several perspectives. Critics of the consistency index in AHP state that the critical value of consistency index depends on an average of the random index based simulation study using a 9 scale comparison matrix. We found that the distribution of the consistency index followed the skew distribution according to the dimension of the comparison matrix based on a simulation study with a 9 scale comparison matrix. From the simulation study, we suggest a consistency index quantile table to assist the decision-making process in AHP; in addition, we can approximate the distribution of the consistency index to the gamma distribution under the limited assumptions.

  • In this paper, a system technology-based algorithms and visualization is proposed to show a space data. Also the proposed system provides analysis function with combination of usual map and automatic document generation function to give a useful information for making an important decision based on spatial distributed data. In the proposed method, we employ the heat map analysis to present a suitable color distribution for 2 dimensional map data. The buffering analysis method is also used to define the spatial data access. By using the proposed system, spatial information in a variety of distribution will be easy to identify. Also, if we make a use of automatic document generation function in the proposed algorithm, a lot of time and cost savings are expected to make electronic document which representation of spatial information is required.
