Field Technique of Non-Educated Constructors in Timber Structure of Korean-Style Secondary Station(Gong-So) -Focused on the Sin-Sung and Su-Bun Secondary Stations- (한옥 공소의 목구조 방식에 나타난 민간 기술자의 현장기법 -천주교 신성공소와 장수천주교회 수분공소를 중심으로-)

  • This paper is aimed to clarify field technique of non-educated constructors in timber structure of korean-style secondary station(Gong-So) on the annex of catholic church. The main object of this study is Sin-Sung and Su-Bun secondary stations which post-lintel structure was 2high columns(Go-Ju) 5beams(Ryang) in Jeon-Buk area of Korea. We reached the following conclusion. Firstly, these secondary stations are required a lots of space for number of persons with the introduction of basilica plane. These plans have different intervals in the layout. Secondly, they constructed the holy space by using high columns(Nae-Jin-Go-Ju). The former problems of plan layout are sloved by reinforcement and replacement eaves and rafter of logitudinal. Thirdly, the elements showed the natural feature such as irregular wooden floor, arch-type head pentrating tie and a ceiling. In the end, we knew that non-educated constructor had found a way in the problem for accepting unreasonable work.

A Study on the Technological Criteria for the Development of the National Environment Stellite Center Earth Station (국가환경위성센터 지상국 개발을 위한 기술기준에 관한 연구)

  • For the purpose of drawing out the technological criteria for the development of the National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station, some constructional conditions for the establishment of the National Environmental Satellite Center and several characteristics of National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station to be developed in the near future were analyzed. In addition, the structure of Environmental Satellite Earth Station and its internal interfaces by analyzing the characteristics of National Environmental Satellite Center Earth Station were depicted. In this paper, some top level requirements of the Environmental Satellite Earth Station and several interface requirements between the Environmental Satellite Earth Station and the Satellite Control Center were systematically described.

  • In general, the function of intake structure, whether it be a open channel, a fully wetted tunnel, a sump or a tank, is to supply an evenly distributed flow to a pump station. An even distribution of flow, characterized by strong local flow, can result in formation of surface or submerged vortices, and with certain low values of submergence, may introduce air into pump, causing a reduction of capacity and efficiency, an increase in vibration and additional noise. Unfortunately in order to design the sump station, the reasonable code or the standards weren't presented yet in Korea. Thus, some researchers had often referred the HI code, JSME code or CEN code to design the sump station. This study aims to prescribe the standard of sump design which were matched well the Korean pump station. Thus, the HI code and TSJ code would be interpreted fully to Korean language, the part of interpreted clauses of the western codes would be selected to compose the standard.

  • When a certain magnitude earthquake occurs, serious damage for human and properties is a major concern for most of the subway stations which were not applied for earthquake resistant design. Consideration and experimental verification for ground and structural behavior based on soil-structure interaction relation are required to evaluate seismic performance of the subway station as embedded structures. For 1/60 scaled subway station model, centrifuge modeling shaking table test is performed using Kobe and Northridge earthquakes. Compare to displacements and moments of the underground and structure obtained by soil response analysis and response displacement method based on experimental results, this paper shows how to evaluate seismic performance of subway station.

Phytoplankton in the Waters of the Ieodo Ocean Research Station Determined by Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, HPLC Pigment Data and Remote Sensing (현미경, Flow Cytometer, HPLC 색소자료 및 원격탐사를 이용한 이어도 관측기지 주변수의 식물플랑크톤 연구)

  • Phytoplankton community structure and distribution pattern in the surface water around the Ieodo Ocean Research Station were investigated during seven cruises carried out from July, 2003 to October, 2004. Samples were analyzed using various tools including a microscope, flow cytometer, and HPLC. Satellite images were used to analyze spatio-temporal phytoplankton biomass distribution. SeaWiFS chlorophyll a (chl a) images showed that spring blooms occurred in April-May near the Ieodo Station, and these waters were under the influence of Changjiang Dilute Water during July-October. Also, during the July-October period, HPLC pigments data showed increasing zeaxanthin concentrations, a marker pigment of cyanobacteria whereas increasing concentrations of various other pigments such as fucoxanthin, peridinin, prasinoxanthia alloxanthin, 19'-hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin and chlorophyll b were noted during spring blooms. Such pigment marker data were consistent with picoplankton data analyzed by flow cytometer and nano-microplankton analyzed by microscope. The pigment-CHEMTAX method was used to drive the phytoplankton group apportioned chi a. Diatoms, chlorophytes, dinoflagellates, and cryptophytes comprised 25.8, 20.7, 15.9, and 14.1%, respectively, of the total chl a in May. Average cyanobacteria concentrations in July-October contributed 25.4% of the total concentration. This was the highest percent contribution and was followed by chlorophytes, diatoms, and prymnesiophytes. This study discusses results from various methods, similarities and differences in the results among those methods, and the application range of the results from different analytical methods. Also, the study reveals a detailed phytolpankton community structure in the waters around the Ieodo Station, and suggests future monitoring considerations in relation to cell morphology, ecology and diversity factors according to taxonomic groups.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity, Relationships and Structure among Korean Native Cattle Breeds Using Microsatellite Markers

  • Four Korean native cattle (KNC) breeds-Hanwoo, Chikso, Heugu, and Jeju black-are entered in the Domestic Animal Diversity Information System of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The objective of this study was to assess the genetic diversity, phylogenetic relationships and population structure of these KNC breeds (n = 120) and exotic breeds (Holstein and Charolais, n = 56). Thirty microsatellite loci recommended by the International Society for Animal Genetics/FAO were genotyped. These genotypes were used to determine the allele frequencies, allelic richness, heterozygosity and polymorphism information content per locus and breed. Genetic diversity was lower in Heugu and Jeju black breeds. Phylogenetic analysis, Factorial Correspondence Analysis and genetic clustering grouped each breed in its own cluster, which supported the genetic uniqueness of the KNC breeds. These results will be useful for conservation and management of KNC breeds as animal genetic resources.

  • DGPS Reference Station the national infrastructure generates the DGPS correction information for Differential GPS. Currently, South Korea operates the software based DGPS reference station using the next generation DGPS architecture in order that upgrade the hardware based DGPS reference station. However the software based DGPS reference station proposed by USCG has not changed just a form of its structure but intimate architecture. Accordingly, It can't strengthen the advantages of software based architecture. In this paper, I will propose a new software architecture design that is integrated with DGPS reference station and integrity monitor. This architecture is more simple than existing one so can use the maritime DGPS reference station which is required more simple structure.

A Study of Applicability of Monitoring System through Polar Environment around the King Sejong Station, Antarctica (극지환경을 고려한 남극 세종과학기지 계측시스템 적용성에 관한 연구)

  • Environmental monitoring analysis were analyzed for the period from 1988 to 2007 near King Sejong Station. Extreme environment structure behaviors(Marine Biology Lab.) were evaluated using monitoring sensors developed commercial sensors. Also when installing the sensors ambient environment of the King Sejong Station, to analyze the measured data and the comparative behavior of the structure were analyzed. As a environmental monitoring analysis result at King Sejong Station temperature, sensors were installed to withstand about $-25.6^{\circ}C$ or less and 49.5m/s. They were needed that the height of 225.0cm or more to be installed during the installation. For several monitoring sensors used in Antarctic, temperature, snow and strong winds were very sensitive to the atmospheric environment. Quite often a camouflage(animals and humans) would make it necessary to provide housing for monitoring sensors. Therefore, protection system developed for these sensors were to protect the sensors and data logger. Protection system the newly developed, is economical, easy to install even in harsh environments. Based on the measurement result of the one year, consider electrode applicability of the protection system, it was confirmed that the behavior of the structure is also predictable.
