In a flexible multi-body dynamic system the typical topological optimization method for structures cannot be directly applied, as the stiffness varies with position. In this paper, the topological optimization of the flexible multi-body dynamic system is converted into structural optimization using the equivalent static load method. First, the actual boundary conditions of the control system and the approximate stiffness curve of the mechanism are obtained from a flexible multi-body dynamical simulation. Second, the finite element models are built using the absolute nodal coordination for different positions according to the stiffness curve. For efficiency, the static reanalysis method is utilized to solve these finite element equilibrium equations. Specifically, the finite element equilibrium equations of key points in the stiffness curve are fully solved as the initial solution, and the following equilibrium equations are solved using a reanalysis method with an error controlled epsilon algorithm. In order to identify the efficiency of the elements, a non-dimensional measurement is introduced. Finally, an improved evolutional structural optimization (ESO) method is used to solve the optimization problem. The presented method is applied to the optimal design of a die bonder. The numerical results show that the presented method is practical and efficient when optimizing the design of the mechanism.

A computer program for three dimensional dynamic analysis of a mount system composed of rigid or flexible bodies and mount elements is developed. Cartesian coordinates and Euler parameters are used to specify the positions and orientations of the bodies. The equations of motion are formulated using Langrange equation and Langrange multiplier technique. The developed program includes routine, for inclined mount elements, several kinds of driving constrains, and external forces. The Static equilibrium analysis routine is also developed using iterative method.
The present article examines the static response of multilayered magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) beam in thermal environment through finite element (FE) methods. On the basis of the minimum total potential energy principle and the coupled constitutive equations of MEE material, the FE equilibrium equations of cantilever MEE beam is derived. Maxwell's equations are considered to establish the relation between electric field and electric potential; magnetic field and magnetic potential. A simple condensation approach is employed to solve the global FE equilibrium equations. Further, numerical evaluations are made to examine the influence of different in-plane and through-thickness temperature distributions on the multiphysics response of MEE beam. A parametric study is performed to evaluate the effect of stacking sequence and different temperature profiles on the direct and derived quantities of MEE beam. It is believed that the results presented in this article serve as a benchmark for accurate design and analysis of the MEE smart structures in thermal applications.
The paper is devoted to the stability analysis of a simply supported five layer sandwich beam. The beam consists of five layers: two metal faces, the metal foam core and two binding layers between faces and the core. The main goal is to elaborate a mathematical and numerical model of this beam. The beam is subjected to an axial compression. The nonlinear hypothesis of deformation of the cross section of the beam is formulated. Based on the Hamilton's principle the system of four stability equations is obtained. This system is approximately solved. Applying the Bubnov-Galerkin's method gives an ordinary differential equation of motion. The equation is then numerically processed. The equilibrium paths for a static and dynamic load are derived and the influence of the binding layers is considered. The main goal of the paper is an analytical description including the influence of binding layers on stability, especially on critical load, static and dynamic paths. Analytical solutions, in particular mathematical model are verified numerically and the results are compared with those obtained in experiments.

This study considers an air and liquid-filled geomembrane tube section resting on a horizontal foundation. All quantities are normalized to obtain geometrically similar solutions in the static equilibrium condition. Analytic solutions are expressed in closed form. The solution for the air or liquid-filled tube section is derived systematically as an extreme case of the air and liquid-filled tube section. The validity of these solutions is confirmed by comparing to previous study, and some results are shown for the characteristic parameters and shapes of air and/or liquid-filled cases. Using the result of present study, one can estimate the shape and characteristic parameters of a tube section without numerical integrations or iterations.
The Voltage stability problem has recently been dealt with in the literature from various points of view. The diverse theories have been established in voltage stability analysis because of the complicates of power systems and diverse phenomena of voltage collapse. Through rigorous mathematical operations, this paper shows that all the major methods used in static voltage stability, i.e - Jacobian method, voltage sensitivity method, real and reactive power loss sensitivity method and energy function method - have an identical background in theory. The results from the test in sample systems have shown the validity of this verification. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

Game theory has been regarded as a useful theoretical tool for modeling the interactions between distinct entities and thus it has been harnessed in various research field. In particular, research attention has been shown to how to apply game theory to modeling the interactions between malign and benign entities in the field of wireless networks. Although various game theoretic modeling work have been proposed in the field of wireless networks, our proposed work is disparate to the existing work in the sense that we focus on mobile malign node detection problem in static wireless sensor networks. More specifically, we propose a Bayesian game theoretic modeling for mobile malign node detection problem in static wireless sensor networks. In our modeling, we formulate a two-player static Bayesian game with imperfect information such that player 1 is aware of the type of player 2, but player 2 is not aware of the type of player 1. We use four strategies in our static Bayesian game. We obtain Bayesian Nash Equilibria with pure strategies under certain conditions.
A stranded ship means a ship which is stuck on a rock or a seabed, and cannot move by itself. The lightening plan is required to refloat the stranded ship. For this, we have to understand the forces and moments acting on the ship, which is composed of the gravity, buoyancy, and reaction force due to the touched area below the ship. This study defines those forces and moments, and proposed the calculation method to find the posture based on the static equilibrium. It is divided by two steps. In the first step, the magnitude and position of the reaction force are obtained based on the known information such as initial trim angle and draft of the ship. In the second step, the reaction force and the posture is calculated due to the three cases such as addition, reduction, and movement of the cargo. It is applied to three examples in order to calculate the reaction force, and the trim angle due to changes of the cargo. As a results, we successfully obtain the magnitudes and positions of forces acting on the stranded ship and to check the posture of the stranded ship.
The problem analyzed here is a sheet metal forming process which requires a drawbead. The drawbead provides the sheet metal enough tension to be deformed plastically along the punch face and consequently, ensures a proper shape of final products by fixing the sheet to the die. Therefore, the optimum design of drawbead is indispensable in obtaining the desired formability. A static-explicit finite element analysis is carried out to provide a perspective tool for designing the drawbead. The finite element formulation is constructed from static equilibrium equation and takes into account the boundary condition that involves a proper contact condition. The deformation behavior of sheet material is formulated by the elastic-plastic constitutive equation. The finite element formulation has been solved based on an existing method that is called the static-explicit method. The main features of the static-explicit method are first that there is no convergence problem. Second, the problem of contact and friction is easily solved by application of very small time interval. During the analysis of drawbead processes, the strain distribution and the drawing force on drawbead can be analyzed. And the effects of bead shape and number of beads on sheet forming processes were investigated. The results of the static explicit analysis of drawbead processes show no convergence problem and comparatively accurate results even though severe high geometric and contact-friction nonlinearity. Moreover, the computational results of a static-explicit finite element analysis can supply very valuable information for designing the drawbead process in which the defects of final sheet product can be removed.
