Application of the Modified Reactive SPH Method for Simulating Explosions

  • Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is a Lagrangian method widely used for the modeling fluid flows. Simulations of explosions require, besides the hydrodynamic equations, a realistic equation of state, an energy source term, and a set of chemical kinetic equations to follow the composition changes of the gas during the explosion. The performance of the hydrodynamic equations is investigated in the framework of the Sedov-Taylor blast-wave. The implementation of chemical kinetic equations and equation of state is studied with 1D detonation of TNT slab. Our results are compared to those from analytical and experimental studies.

Mathematical Models that Underlie Computer Simulation of the Trawl Doors for Mid-Water Trawls

  • This paper presents the coordinate systems used for trawl doors modeling, and provides matrix equations of connection between these systems. The projections of the forces acting on the door into axes of various coordinate systems were obtained, which were used in the door equilibrium equations. Six equilibrium conditions for the door as a solid were obtained: formulas that allow for the door area in plan to be determined; its weight in water; its mass; three moment equations for determining the position of the warp and backstrops fastening points to the door with triangular and quadrangular backstrop arrangements. It was found that the moment equilibrium equations of trawl doors are generally incompatible, which was not found by any of the authors who have previously conducted research into trawl doors. Using the Kronecker-Capelli theorem, the compatibility equation is obtained. This equation includes the coordinates of the backstrop fastening points to the door, which means that these points cannot be randomly selected. The technique of determining the warp and backstrops' fastening points position to the door is described. Conditions of directional (by angle of attack) and roll (in angle of roll) stability of the doors' equilibrium are presented. The equations presented in this paper comprise a mathematical model that allows, when designing the doors, to select optimal parameters, as well as to carry out adjustments for trawling purposes to ensure the stable movement of the doors and the entire trawl system.

  • In this paper, the dynamic system modeling and the state sensitivity analysis of the spin-coater system for the reduction of the vibration are proposed. In the respect of modeling, the spin-coater system is composed of components of servomotor, belt, spindle, and a supported base. Each component is defined and combined modeling is derived to 3dimensional equations. Verification of modeling is verified by experimental values of actual system in the frequency domain. By direct differentiation the constraint equations with respect to kinematic design variables, such as eccentricity of spindle, moment of inertia, torsional stiffness and damping of supported base, sensitivity equations are derived to the verified state equations.   • This paper presents a TS (Takagi-Sugeno) type FLC (Fuzzy Logic Controller) with only 3 rules. The choice of parameters of FLC is very difficult job on design FLC controller. Therefore, the choice of appropriate linguistic variable is an important part of the design of fuzzy controller. However, since fuzzy controller is nonlinear, it is difficult to analyze mathematically the affection of the linguistic variable. So this choice is depend on the expert's experience and trial and error method. In the design of the system, we use a variety of response characteristics like stability, rising time, overshoot, settling time, steady-state error. In particular, it is important for a stable system design to predict the steady-state error because the system's steady-state response of the system is related to the overall quality. In this paper, we propose the method to choose the consequence linear equation's parameter of T-S type FLC in the view of steady-state error. The parameters of consequence linear equations of FLC are tuned according to the system error that is the input of FLC. The full equation of T-S type FLC is presented and using this equation, the relation between output and parameters can represented. As well as the FLC parameters of consequence linear equations affect the stability of the system, it also affects the steady-state error. In this study, The system according to the parameter of consequence linear equations of FLC predict the steady-state error and the method to remove the system's steady-state error is proposed using the prediction error value. The simulation is carried out to determine the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • This paper studies the free vibration behavior of bi-dimensional functionally graded (BFG) nanobeams subjected to arbitrary boundary conditions. According to Eringen's nonlocal theory and Hamilton's principle, the underlying equations of motion have been obtained for BFG nanobeams. Moreover, the variable substitution method is utilized to establish the structure's state-space differential equations, followed by forming the dynamic stiffness matrix based on state-space differential equations. In order to compute the natural frequencies, the current study utilizes the Wittrick-Williams algorithm as a solution technique. Moreover, the nonlinear vibration frequencies calculated by employing the proposed method are compared to the frequencies obtained in previous studies to evaluate the proposed method's performance. Some illustrative numerical examples are also given in order to study the impacts of the nonlocal parameters, material property gradient indices, nanobeam length, and boundary conditions on the BFG nanobeam's frequency. It is found that reducing the nonlocal parameter will usually result in increased vibration frequencies.

The Implementation of a Discrete PI Speed Controller for an Induction Motor (유도전동기용 이상 PI형 속도제어기의 구성)

  • In this paper, non-linear state equations for a 3-phase, 220V, 0.4 KW, squirrel cage induction motor have been derived using the d-q transformation and then these equations have been linearized around an operating point by a small perturbation method. Root loci on the s-plane with repect to the changes of slip S and supply frequency f have been studied. Based on the above results, the derived linear state equations have been augmented to the 6th order, including the output velocity feedback and a discrete PI speed controller. Using the new state equations, stability regions on the Kp-Kl plane have been investigated for slip S and sampling time T. In designing a discrete PI controller, the coefficients Kp and Kl around the normal operating point (220V,1,692rpm,60Hz)have been chosen under the assumptions that each response to a perturbation input of reference speed and load torque be underdamped and dominated by a pair of complex poles. Step responses in the experimental system using an Intel SDK-86 and an optimized PWM inverter show satisfactory results that the maximum overshoots and damped frequency are well coincided with ones from the computer simulation.

  • Free vibration characteristics of a curved pipe conveying fluid is studied when the pipe is clamped at both ends. Using the perturbation method, the non-linear governing equations divided into two parts; the steady state non-linear equilibrium equations and the linearized equations of motion in the neighborhood of the equilibrium position. The natural frequencies are computed from the linearized equations of motion. In this study, the equilibrium positions are determined by two types of equations, i.e., (1) the non-linear equations, and (2) the equations obtained by neglecting the non-linear terms. The natural frequencies obtained from the non-linear equilibrium equations are compared to those obtained from the linearized equilibrium equations. From the results, as the fluid velocity increases, the equilibrium position should be determined from the nonlinear equations for the vibration analysis of the curved pipe conveying fluid.

  • In conventional small signal stability analysis, system is assumed to be invariant and the state space equations are used to calculate the eigenvalues of state matrix. However, when a system contains switching elements such as FACTS devices, it becomes non-continuous system. In this case, a mathematically rigorous approach to system small signal stability analysis is by means of eigenvalue analysis of the system periodic transition matrix based on discrete system analysis method. In this research, RCF(Resistive Companion Form) method is used to analyse small signal stability of a non-continuous system including switching elements'. Applying the RCF method to the differential and integral equations of power system, generator, controllers and FACTS devices including switching elements should be modeled in the form of state transition matrix. From this state transition matrix eigenvalues which are mapped to unit circle can be calculated.

Dirac Phenomenological Analyses of 1.047-GeV Proton Inelastic Scatterings from 62Ni and 64Ni

  • Unpolarized 1.047-GeV proton inelastic scatterings from the Ni isotopes $^{62}Ni$ and $^{64}Ni$ are analyzed phenomenologically employing an optical potential model and the first-order collective model in the relativistic Dirac coupled channel formalism. The Dirac equations are reduced to $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger-like$ second-order differential equations, and the effective central and spin-orbit optical potentials are analyzed by considering the mass-number dependence. The multistep excitation via the $2^+$ state is found to be important for the $4^+$ state excitation in the ground state rotational band for proton inelastic scatterings from the Ni isotopes. The calculated deformation parameters for the $2^+$ and the $4^+$ states of the ground state rotational band and for the first $3^-$ state are found to agree pretty well with those obtained from nonrelativistic calculations.
