To evaluate the performance of cadmium sulfide as a multi-function X-ray dosimeter, we made an X-ray detector that was based on cadmium sulfide using evaporation technology, and measured its response to X-ray exposure. The voltages of cadmium sulfide were measured on the various X-ray tube potentials, X-ray tube currents and exposure times. The regression analysis of the voltage response of CdS on the tube-potential variation was y=0.0995x-0.1146 ($R^2$=0.9595, $\sigma$=0.08, standard error=2%) and the regression analysis of the voltage response of CdS on the tube-potential variation was y=0.0439x+1.1891 ($R^2$=0.9021, $\sigma$=0.04, standard error=1.8%) The regression analysis of the voltage response of CdS on the X-ray exposure time variation was y=8.2853+5.5878 ($R^2$=0.7287, $\sigma$=0.06, standard error=1.9%). In conclusion, cadmium sulfide responded linearly to the variation X-ray conditions, suggesting cadmium sulfide to be a feasible X-ray sensor of multi-function dosimeter related instruments.
Experimental study has been conducted to clarify the internal and external pressure variation characteristics for KTX(Korea Train eXpress) passing through tunnel. Abrupt pressure variation gives rise to the ear-discomfort for passenger and fatigue for car body. In this study, the internal and external pressure variation are measured by using KTX real train experiment and on-board portable data acquisition system in Gyeongbu high speed commercial line. The tunnels from 200 m to 4000 m in length are chosen for the investigation of tunnel length effects. From the results of experiment, the internal pressure variation rate for all the test tunnels is lower than the standard criteria of 200 Pa/s. And, the critical tunnel lengths for pressure wave pattern are classified into 7 groups by using the theoretical L-t diagram analysis.

The purity methods to determine LOD/LOQ using standard deviation of the residual, intercept and blank by IUPAC and ACS describe many of the pitfalls and pose significant challenges to analytical chemists. Therefore, the aim of this study is the development of the simple, easy, convenient and statistically significant method to determine LOD in quantitative analysis of organic solvents by GC. The new approaching method by linearization in the given concentration range used coefficient of variation ; ${\sigma}_{n-1}$/S(standard deviation, ${\sigma}_{n-1}$ and average, S) of sensitivity(Response/concentration). The comparison of results among the purity methods(IUPAC and ACS) and the linearization have been fulfilled the F-test for standard deviations and t-test for LOD range values. The results of F-test and t-test are satisfied within 95 % confidence level, respectably. The LOD values determined by the new procedure are n-Hexane 0.0116 mg/$m^3$, Toluene 0.0807 mg/$m^3$, and o-Xylene 0.0494 mg/$m^3$. Because the standard deviation of the residual, intercept and blank and the slope of calibration curve are not calculated and the new approaching method use the coefficient of variation of sensitivity by linearization, this new method is simple, easy, convenient and statistically significant. In future, many chemical analysts will expect to applicate and routinely use this method in the all quantitative analysis.

There is a growing concern about the possible increase in inter-annual variation of minimum temperature during the winter season in Korea. This view is strengthened by frequently reported freezing injury to dormant fruit trees, while warmer winters have prevailed recently. The January minimum temperature record at fourteen weather stations was analyzed for 1951-2000. The results showed no evidence of increasing standard deviation at 3 locations between 1951-1980 and 1971-2000, while the remaining 11 stations showed a trend of decreasing standard deviation for the two periods. An empirical model explaining the spatial variation of the standard deviation was derived by regression analysis of 56 stations' data for 1971-2000. Daily minimum temperature and the site elevation may account for 68% of the observed variations. We applied this model to restore the average standard deviation of the January minimum temperature for 1971-2000, and the result was used to produce gridded minimum temperature data for the recurrence interval of 10 and 30 years at 250m resolution. A digital form of the plant hardiness zone map may be developed from this product for site-specific selection of adapted plant species.
This paper presents an improved algorithm which enables to find a suboptimal $H^{\infty}$ controller. In the $H^{\infty}$ control problem with output multiplicative uncertainty, the Glover-Doyle algorithm has sorne constraints for the standard plant. The proposed algorithm removes them by reformulating the standard plant. We show the validity of this algorithm by investigating the variation of norm-bound.d.
Water quality in Nakdong river was analyzed using 699 monitoring data sets including flow rates and water quality concentrations collected at 195 tributary monitoring stations (the priority management areas: 35 stations, the non-priority management areas: 160 stations) in 2015. The highest average concentrations of all data for BOD, COD, T-N, T-P, SS, and TOC were 30~600 times higher than the lowest concentrations while the highest average loading rates were 800,000~2,700,000 times higher than the lowest loading rates. Because of the very large differences in the concentrations and loading rates, the variation of the concentrations and loading rates in a priority management monitoring station for BOD, T-P, and TOC was analyzed using the coefficient of variation, the ratio of the standard deviation value to the mean value. For BOD, T-P, and TOC, the coefficients of variation for concentration were mostly less than 100%, whereas the coefficients of variation for loading rate ranged from 31.1% to 232.2%. The very big difference in the loading rates was due to the large variation in flow rates. As a result of this, the estimation of water quality at each monitoring station using the average values of the concentrations and loading rates might be not rational in terms of their representativeness. In this study, new water quality analysis methods using all collected monitoring data were suggested and applied according to the water quality standard in medium-sized management areas.
PURPOSE. The aim of this work is to evaluate different types of materials used for making implant abutments, by means of an in vitro study and a review of the literature, in order to identify the indications for a better choice of an implant-supported restoration in the anterior section. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 5 implant abutments were tested in a random order in the superior anterior maxilla of pig gingiva (n = 8): titanium dioxide (Nobel Biocare); zirconium dioxide, Standard BO shade (Nobel Biocare, Kloten, Switzerland); zirconium dioxide, Light BI shade (Nobel Biocare); zirconium dioxide, Intense A 3.5 shade (Nobel Biocare); and aluminium oxide. Each abutment was tested for 2 mm and 3 mm thickness. To determine color variation, VITA Easyshade Advance spectrophotometer (Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackingen, Germany) was used. RESULTS. Results showed that the color variation induced by the abutment would be affected by the abutment material and gingival thickness, when the gingival thickness is 2 mm. All materials except zirconium dioxide (Standard shade) caused a visible change of color. Then, as the thickness of the gingiva increased to 3 mm, the color variation was attenuated in a significant manner and became invisible for all types of abutments, except those made of aluminium oxide. CONCLUSION. Zirconium dioxide is the material causing the lowest color variation at 2 mm and at 3 mm, whereas aluminium oxide causes the highest color variation no matter the thickness.

Mallipo is a representative beach contaminated by Hebei Spirit oil spill accident in December 2007. This study aims to compare the differences of two seasons (winter and summer) for the spatio-temporal variation patterns of oiling status in the whole area and divided five regions of Mallipo beach. In the whole area, the decreasing rate of average TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbon) in winter was twice greater than summer during four years. According to the spatial variation pattern analysis of oiling status using weighted mean center and weighted standard distance, the oil concentration was clustered on southwestern region in winter, however, the TPH was dispersed in the whole area in summer. Temporal variation pattern of TPH in each of Mallipo's five regions showed that TPH had been consistently decreased in winter, but oil concentration had not been changed in summer since 2009 except the southwestern region. Therefore, in order to evaluate and predict the progress of oiling status, it is needed to analyze the spatio-temporal variation pattern of TPH using spatial analysis after separating data into seasons (e.g., winter and summer). In addition, time series analysis is useful in the regional scales through spatial partitioning rather than the whole beach area for the understanding of temporal variation pattern.

In this study, reliability tests of torsion control expansion anchors according to drill bit diameters were performed. The standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the anchor were reviewed through the tests for each variable, and the results were compared and evaluated with the standard test results. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.04 times the drill bit diameter, they were within 20% of the ultimate tensile load permissible standard coefficient of variation. It was found that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in the large hole was sufficiently secured. However, it was found to be about 253% and 210% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling performance of the anchor installed in 1.04 times the drill bit diameter was sufficiently secured. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.02 times the drill bit diameter, the value of the coefficient of variation of the ultimate tensile load limit was within 20%, which satisfies the test standard. It was shown to be about 136% and 168% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in 1.02 times the drill bit diameter is sufficiently secured.

Variation in construction means modification of design, changes in quality, quantity of work including the alteration of standard of materials or goods to be used in the work and the removal from site any kind of material not in accordance in the contract. In Ghana, Variation order has become major issue in the construction industry. This had resulted in cost overruns, delay and in some contracts dispute, between parties. The aim of this paper was to identify the root causes of variation; effects of variations on projects in Ghana and the means of reducing the impact of variation order. The method of the study involved literature review, primary data collection, interview and closed - ended- questionnaires. Mean Scores Method was used to rank the identified factors causing variation. Analysis Of Variance Test was use to test for the significant difference between means among the professional groups. The study revealed that most causes of variation were change of design by client and inadequate working details. Establishment of oversight project management committee and flow of information were identified as means of controlling variations during project administration.
