A study on the improved headway calculating method in the metropolitan railway system (광역철도 운행시격 산정방법의 문제점 및 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • Metropolitan railway headway is calculated and decided by external conditions such as appropriate level of service and competitiveness rather than passenger demand for the peak time which is based on transport passenger capability of train. On contrast of inter-city urban railways, train time intervals of sub-urban metropolitan railway were fixed more than 20 mins in the peak time which results in low level of convenience. Big gap of headway brings a vicious circle of deteriorating competitiveness and decreasing the number of customers. Also this time gap of train interval results in stagnation of passenger demand, and makes it difficult to reduce headway. This thesis is a basic research to identify headway problems and their solutions of metropolitan railway. This thesis suggests passenger demand and the calculated standard for setting the headway, and reviews the level of passenger crowdedness, the numbers of coach for each train and time-competitiveness. At the last, thesis suggests the need for making headway by means of train services throughout benefit & cost analysis. And it also recommends the improved calculating method of setting up headway considering the different train headway standards by regional situation, flexibility in the number of coaches for a train, government policy to activate railway business and the need for setting up the standard for train service level.

  • The Purpose of Similarity(Reproduction) Degree Appraisal is to determine the equality or similarity between two programs and it is a system that presents the technical grounds of judgment which is necessary to support the resolution of software intellectual property rights through expert eyes. The most important things in proceeding software appraisal are not to make too much of expert's own subjective judgment and to acquire the accurate-appraisal results. However, up to now standard research and development for its systematic techniques are not properly made out and as different expert as each one could approach in a thousand different ways, even the techniques for software appraisal types have not exactly been presented yet. Moreover, in the analyzing results of all the appraisal cases finished before, through a practical way, we blow that there are some damages on objectivity and accuracy in some parts of the appraisal results owing to the problems of existing appraisal procedures and techniques or lack of expert's professional knowledge. In this paper we present the model for the standardization of software-similarity-appraisal techniques and objective-evaluation methods for decreasing a tolerance that could make different results according to each expert in the same-evaluation points. Especially, it analyzes and evaluates the techniques from various points of view concerning the standard appraisal process, setting a range of appraisal, setting appraisal domains and items in detail, based on unit processes, setting the weight of each object to be appraised, and the degree of logical and physical similarity, based on effective solutions to practical problems of existing appraisal techniques and their objective and quantitative standardization. Consequently, we believe that the model for the standardization of software-similarity-appraisal techniques will minimizes the possibility of mistakes due to an expert's subjective judgment as well as it will offer a tool for improving objectivity and reliability of the appraisal results.

Generation of a Standard Typhoon using for Surge Simulation Consistent with Wind in Terms of Return Period (풍속 재현빈도와 일치하는 해일모의용 표준태풍 생성)

  • Extreme wind speeds at four sites including Mokpo, Gunsan, Incheon and Jeju near the Western Coast have been estimated with a tool of Monte Carlo simulation and typhoon data. Results of sensitivity analysis show that closeness between distance to the eye and the radius to maximum wind is most sensitive. While location angle and pressure deficit are sensitive too, but translation velocity is not. A standard typhoon, which results in extreme wind speeds having various return period, can be constructed by combination of parameter informations of each site. Then, with a numerical modelling of the typhoon, extreme surge heights having the same return period can also be obtained. To be added, by analysing the data which only including those based on navigable semicircle, it is possible to produce a standard typhoon which could result in setting-down of sea level.

  • The span deflection among the monitoring items of bridge measurement system in real time is representative behaviour and important index of superstructure condition. the limit of span deflection in Standard Specifications for Highway Bridge in Korea has been applied to the method that is making the management-criteria for span deflection in bridge measurement system. But the limit concern mainly serviceability of divers. So it is difficult to find the safety factor of the limit from the viewpoint of bridge safety. This study estimated the safety factor of the limit of span-deflection in Standard Specifications for Highway Bridge in Korea from the viewpoint of bridge safety by the indoor structural test.

Reduction of Radiation Exposure by Modifying Imaging Manner and Fluoroscopic Settings during Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Insertion

  • Objective : Percutaneous pedicle screw (PPS) fixation is a needle based procedure that requires fluoroscopic image guidance. Consequently, radiation exposure is inevitable for patients, surgeons, and operation room staff. We hypothesize that reducing the production of radiation emission will result in reduced radiation exposure for everyone in the operation room. Research was performed to evaluate reduction of radiation exposure by modifying imaging manner and mode of radiation source. Methods : A total of 170 patients (680 screws) who underwent fusion surgery with PPS fixation from September 2019 to March 2020 were analyzed in this study. Personal dosimeters (Polimaster Ltd.) were worn at the collar outside a lead apron to measure radiation exposure. Patients were assigned to four groups based on imaging manner of fluoroscopy and radiation modification (pulse mode with reduced dose) : continuous use without radiation modification (group 1, n=34), intermittent use without radiation modification (group 2, n=54), continuous use with radiation modification (group 3, n=26), and intermittent use with radiation modification (group 4, n=56). Post hoc Tukey Honest significant difference test was used for individual comparisons of radiation exposure/screw and fluoroscopic time/screw. Results : The average radiation exposure/screw was 71.45±45.75 µSv/screw for group 1, 18.77±11.51 µSv/screw for group 2, 19.58±7.00 µSv/screw for group 3, and 4.26±2.89 µSv/screw for group 4. By changing imaging manner from continuous multiple shot to intermittent single shot, 73.7% radiation reduction was achieved in the no radiation modification groups (groups 1, 2), and 78.2% radiation reduction was achieved in the radiation modification groups (groups 3, 4). Radiation source modification from continuous mode with standard dose to pulse mode with reduced dose resulted in 72.6% radiation reduction in continuous imaging groups (groups 1, 3) and 77.3% radiation reduction in intermittent imaging groups (groups 2, 4). The average radiation exposure/screw was reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from continuous imaging with standard fluoroscopy setting (group 1) to intermittent imaging with modified fluoroscopy setting (group 4). A total of 680 screws were reviewed postoperatively, and 99.3% (675) were evaluated as pedicle breach grade 0 (<2 mm). Conclusion : The average radiation exposure/screw for a spinal surgeon can be reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from real-time imaging with standard dose to intermittent imaging with modified dose. These modifications can be instantly applied to any procedure using fluoroscopic guidance and may reduce the overall radiation exposure of spine surgeons.

Headspace Analysis for Residual Hexane in Vegetable Oil

  • To enforce the maximum residue limit for residual hexane (0.005 g/kg) in commercially available Korean vegetable oil, convenient and accurate quantification methods were investigated. Using dual surrogate standards, pentane and heptane were dissolved in ethanol, and then added to hexane-tree sunflower oil for setting up the calibration curve. Gas Chromatograph-Flame Ionization Detector with a porous layer open tubular column, indicated good chromatographic separation of hexane from other inhibiting matrix components. The lowest calibration level was $0.5\;{\mu}g/g$, not exceeding a relative standard deviation of 10% (RSD%), and 1.0\;{\mu}g/g$ not exceeding a deviation of 22% RSD% using heptane as an internal standard for the Static headspace analysis by using a headspace auto-sampler and manual injection, respectively. The residual hexane was detected in nine of the samples among 87 vegetable oil samples purchased on the local market.

  • For optimizing railroad designs, setting up shape and specifications of facilities harmonized and coincide with local topography based on absolute location information, correct construction quantity's output and proper land's security etc are key matters, and also clear and advanced surveying standards and technical provision shall become priority so as to satisfy them. Therefore, this study analyzed and researched on surveying standards and technical provision's status in current railroad design's cases, and then attempts to suggest establishment of design surveying standard, procedures, and methods together with its practical scheme.

Characteristics of Adult Women's Body Somatotype according to Drop Values (성인 여성의 드롭 치수에 따른 체형 특성 연구)

  • An analysis of adult women's somatotypes classified by drop values can provide important preliminary data in determining standard clothing sizes for mass production of ready-made clothes. This is because the values are based on measurements of girth, which is essential information in the size-setting process. Adult women's body types are classified according to drop values in a standard clothing size system adopted by Korea and several other countries. This study aims to identify somatotype characteristics of adult women aged 20 to 69 by using five types of drop values: bust-waist, hip-waist, hip-bust, abdomen-waist, and hip-abdomen. Statistical cluster analysis of collected data revealed four somatotypes among adult women. Type R, with a developed lower body, accounted for 36.6%, and its bodyline was found to be closest to the average adult woman. Type X, constituting 25.4%, had the curviest contours of all and relatively large hip measurements, with the thinnest figure. Flat abdomen and hips characterized type Y, which accounted for 18.9%. Lastly, 19.0% fell into type H, the most obese figure, in which abdomen girth exceeded hip measurements. Since type H has excess fat deposits in the abdomen, not only hip measurements but also abdomen girth should be considered when designing top longer than torso-length and bottoms.

  • It is needed to classify the kinds of construction and demolition(c&d) debris to 6 catagories of waste concrete, waste asphalt concrete, waste wood, scraps, combustible waste and incombustible waste in order to properly do a separate discharge and to estimate unit generation rate in construction site. Also, in this case, the unit treating cost for mixed wastes should be applied with the unit treating cost for combustible waste. The construction standard materials estimation data is used for basic data for estimating unit generation rate. The mixed wastes in this data should be classified to waste wood, combustible waste and incombustible waste, and their ratio is obtained by using the unit generation rate of Asia Pacific Environment and Management Institute and Seoul Metropolitan Development Institute. The waste amounts generated from newly-built construction can be obtained from multiplying the loss rate by the amount of materials used from construction standard estimation data. Also, those from dismantling construction can be obtained by subtracting waste amount generated during newly-built construction from total input amount of materials in newly-built construction. Those in two cases can be used in construction site. It can be used for estimating the amount generated and establishing the treating plan in the case of setting up the policy of waste management and doing the environment impact assessment.

A Study on the Actual Conditions of Living Room Lighting in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Districts (대구·경북 지역 거실 조명 실태조사)

  • This research study was conducted to determine the actual conditions of living room lighting in Daegu and Gyeongbuk districts. For this study, 112 households were surveyed. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, fluorescent light was used as the general illumination of living rooms, and the ratio of not using local sources of illumination was high. Secondly, the standard illuminance was found to be 221. The illuminance was the value that satisfied the activities for togetherness and entertainment, but did not reach the illuminance necessary for other activities, such as reading, make-up, and sewing. In addition, the uniformity of brightness used as a measure of uniformity in examining the results was normal. Thirdly, both the brightness and the satisfaction of lighting in the living room space were indicated to be normal. In addition, in regard to housing lighting, 'stability', and 'brightness of lighting' were indicated as important considerations and 'brightness of lighting', 'shadow' and 'management of lighting' were indicated as problem areas.
