ISO 26262 automotive functional safety: issues and challenges

  • Recently, the automotive industry has been introduced to ISO 26262 in November 2011 to address the necessity of safety risk from sensor to actuator by providing guidance in the form of requirements and processes. The malfunctioning behaviour of these systems could have significant impact on the safety of humans and/or the environment. Most of the modern automobiles are equipped with embedded electronic systems which include lots of Electronic Controller Units (ECUs), electronic sensors, signals, bus systems and coding. Due to the complex application in electrical, electronics and programmable electronics, the need to carry out detailed safety analyses which focuses on the potential risk of malfunction is crucial for automotive systems. In this paper, the international trends on pre and post introduction of ISO 26262 through publications will be analyzed as well as to take a glimpse in the activities for implementing this standard by the automotive manufacturers. The issues and challenges which have been occurring from implementing this standard also will be highlighted.

  • A procedure has been developed for bolting steel plates to the sides of existing reinforced concrete beams which can be used to increase the shear strength of beams, increase the flexural strength of beams with enhanced ductility or with only a small loss of ductility, and increase the stiffness of beams in order to reduce deflections and crack widths. It will be shown in this paper, through a qualitative analysis and through the results of testing eight large scale beams, that standard rigid plastic analysis techniques which are commonly used in the design of reinforced-concrete, steel, and composite steel and concrete beams cannot be used directly to design composite bolted-plated reinforced-concrete beams. In the companion paper, quantitative procedures will be used to adapt the standard rigid plastic analysis techniques for this relatively new form of retrofitting.

A Study on Fluoride Content in the Reservoirs Of Iksan Region (익산지역 수원지의 불소함량에 관한 조사연구)

  • This study was carried out to collect basic dates on fluoride intake from drinking water, and the apperance of mottled teeth after taking samples form 5 selected waterways from Iksan region's reservoir to the filtration plant for examination of the fluoride content. The results are as follows. 1. It indicatied that from Hoojung reservoir $2.17{\pm}0.95ppm$, Bulsan reservoir $1.93{\pm}0.23ppm$ and Yoolso reservoir $2.19{\pm}0.10ppm$. 2. Significances were found between Shinhung reservoir $2.57{\pm}1.22ppm$ and Uhwoo reservoir $0.80{\pm}0.55ppm$. 3. Except for the Uhwoo reservoir, the remaining 4 reservoir exceeded the standard fluoride content of 0.50-1.00ppm. For the residents in the region where they use natural water with fluoride content exceeding the standard 1.00ppm as their drinking water and the apperance of mottled teeth should be carried out.

And study improvement item on recording contents and suggested consistent drilling log standard illustration plan.

  • The macro-parametric approach, which is a method of CAD model exchange, has recently been proposed. CAD models can be exchanged in the form of a macro file, which is a sequence of modeling commands. As an event-driven commands set, the standard macro file can transfer design intents such as parameters, features and constraints. Moreover it is suitable for the network environment because the standard macro commands are open, explicit, and the data size is small. This paper introduces the concept of the macro-parametric method and proposes its representation using XML technology. Representing the macro-parametric data using XML allows managing vast amount of dynamic contents, Web-enabled distributed applications, and inherent characteristic of structure and validation.

Response determination of a viscoelastic Timoshenko beam subjected to moving load using analytical and numerical methods

  • In this paper the dynamic behavior of a viscoelastic Timoshenko beam subjected to a concentrated moving load are studied analytically and numerically. The viscoelastic properties of the beam obey the linear standard model in shear and incompressible in bulk. The governing equation for Timoshenko beam theory is obtained in viscoelastic form using the correspondence principle. The analytical solution is based on the Fourier series and the numerical solution is performed with finite element method. The effects of the material properties and the load velocity are investigated on the responses by numerical and analytical methods. In addition, the results are compared with the Euler beam results.

  • In this paper, we designed the extended ATA(AT Attachment interface with extension) interface that combines with goods price and ability and intellectual behavior of SCSI, for make progress the ability and structure of ordinary interface for connect with device of using PC. ATA is establish a standard of IDE(Intelligent Drive Electronics) public in small form factor. SCSI bus is device behaving intellectual and have stable hardware structure, calssified instructions structure. But it is device that difficult to buy, because of price of more than two times. The other side, ATA device is worse than SCSI bus in part of ability, but it came to SCSI in part of speed after improve and it's price is less expensive. another improvement of ATA is a standard of ARAP(AT Attachment Packet Interface) and use method of packet transmission and behaves as if SCSI use a method. Finally, improvement of ATAPI behave from interface of only HDD to ability of ordinary interface. This paper propose the structure of extended interface that satisfied the price and ability.

  • XML DTD is defining expression of simple form for XML document, there is much difficulties to define structure of XML document. Solving XML DTD's problem, W3C was select XML schema by standard in 2001. This paper proposes a design to XML DBMS using Relational Database based on XML schema to be selected by standard from W3C to overcome XML DBMS's shortcoming using XML DTD.

  • Serious problems of the environment protection and resource exhaustion are exhibited. due to the increase of the construction materials and activation of the remodeling, recently. Especially, most of the advanced countries. recycling plan for the waste concrete is vigorously progressing. The purpose of this study is making advances in the recycling of waste concrete material for use as recycled aggregate to make secondary concrete product. Using recycled aggregates form demolished concrete, we manufactured cement bricks to experiment overall performance in Korean Standard and feasible performances. On the recycled cement, in the case of cement : aggregate is 1 : 7 is satisfied with KS F 4004 : dimensions, water absorption, compressive strength of quality of a standard. So we concluded that it has great feasibility to apply these products to construction industry.

  • An analog signal conditioner using fuzzy logic technique, which has multiple-input and multiple-output terminals, is proposed in this paper. The proposed signal conditioner can be employed to linearly translate the level of signals to a standard voltage signal (1-5V) and convert the form of signals to a standard current signal (4-20mA). The implementation method based on the use of a commercial 8-bit microcontroller, the analog-to-digital (A/D) converters, the digital-to-analog (D/A) converters and the voltage-to-current (V/I) converter. The simulation result and the experimental results are presented, which further confirm the feasibility of this approach.
