The position effects on the abortion of flowers, fruits, and ovules were examined in relation to the resource limitation hypothesis using a temperate legume species, Vicia cracca. Fifty plants were randomly sampled from a natural population located at the Belmont Conservation Site in Belmont, MA, USA. Due to indeterminant growth and acropetal flowering of this species, the position of flower or fruit on the plant was able to be coded by the combination of architectural levels such as plant half (lower and upper half) and inflorescence half (lower and upper half) within each plant half. Overall, only 17.3% of the flowers on an inflorescence began to develop into fruits, while overall 36.0% of the fruits initiated failed to mature. Consequently, 11.5% of the flowers successfully matured into fruits. The mean flower number per inflorescence differed significantly among plants as well as between plant halves. Although the probability of fruit initiation was higher in the lower halves of both plant and inflorescence than in the upper halves of the latter, fruit abortion rate differed significantly only between plant halves. The overall mean seed set was 33.6%, implying that about two out of six ovules in a fruit matured into seeds. The seed set was independent of both plant identity and architectural level unlike other reproductive characters examined. When the ovule developmental stage was examined on data pooled over all fruits, the proportion of ovules in varying developmental stages decreased in order of early abortion, seed maturation, late abortion, and seed predation (48.4, 34.9, 12.2, and 4.5%, respectively). A within-fruit ovule position was also used as a class variable for the analysis of position effects on ovule development. All architectural levels considered exerted singificant influence over the ovule development. In particular, ovule development was strongly affected by the within-fruit ovule position. Ovules in both extreme ends within a fruit tended to abort early, while those in the middle position were more likely to mature into seeds. The strong position effects detected from the flowering to seed maturation stage were interpreted as an indication of competitive interaction among reproductive characters which are largely constrained by plant architecture.

Nearest-neighbor classification predicts the class of an input data with the most frequent class among the near training data of the input data. Even though nearest-neighbor classification doesn't have a training stage, all of the training data are necessary in a predictive stage and the generalization performance depends on the quality of training data. Therefore, as the training data size increase, a nearest-neighbor classification requires the large amount of memory and the large computation time in prediction. In this paper, we propose a prototype selection algorithm that predicts the class of test data with the new set of prototypes which are near-boundary training data. Based on Tomek links and distance metric, the proposed algorithm selects boundary data and decides whether the selected data is added to the set of prototypes by considering classes and distance relationships. In the experiments, the number of prototypes is much smaller than the size of original training data and we takes advantages of storage reduction and fast prediction in a nearest-neighbor classification.

The guided weapon system should ensure economical operation and user safety. In particular, in the case of guided weapon systems developed in the form of a guaranteed bomb, the standards for maintaining reliability considering the long-term storage environment are presented during the development stage, and an optimized inspection cycle is required to maintain this. This study calculated the reliability through a trend test, fitness test, and distribution analysis using a mathematical model based on the maintenance status and shooting results during the inspection period for OO missiles currently in operation for a long time in the military. Through this, it was applied to the inspection period model (Martinez) set during the development stage to determine if the improved inspection period can be utilized. Finally, by synthesizing the data from these studies, a policy management plan was developed according to the extension of the inspection period. The One-Shot system was operated at the inspection period set when it was developed. The study analyzed the actual failure and maintenance data to reset the efficient inspection period.
Background: Surgical resection is the standard treatment for early-stage lung cancer. Since postoperative lung function is related to mortality, predicted postoperative lung function is used to determine the treatment modality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive performance of linear regression and machine learning models. Methods: We extracted data from the Clinical Data Warehouse and developed three sets: set I, the linear regression model; set II, machine learning models omitting the missing data: and set III, machine learning models imputing the missing data. Six machine learning models, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), Ridge regression, ElasticNet, Random Forest, eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and the light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM) were implemented. The forced expiratory volume in 1 second measured 6 months after surgery was defined as the outcome. Five-fold cross-validation was performed for hyperparameter tuning of the machine learning models. The dataset was split into training and test datasets at a 70:30 ratio. Implementation was done after dataset splitting in set III. Predictive performance was evaluated by R2 and mean squared error (MSE) in the three sets. Results: A total of 1,487 patients were included in sets I and III and 896 patients were included in set II. In set I, the R2 value was 0.27 and in set II, LightGBM was the best model with the highest R2 value of 0.5 and the lowest MSE of 154.95. In set III, LightGBM was the best model with the highest R2 value of 0.56 and the lowest MSE of 174.07. Conclusion: The LightGBM model showed the best performance in predicting postoperative lung function.
The purpose of this study was to suggest design criteria for the HMT (hydro-mechanical transmission) of a 55 kW-class agricultural tractor, develop a simulation model, and evaluate its performance such as axle rotational speed, tractor speed, and power transmission efficiency. In this study, the HMT comprised a compound planetary gear and a HSU (hydro-static unit), and the compound planetary gear comprised two planetary gear sets. The HMT has three gear stages, and the maximum tractor speed was selected as 40 km/h. The simulation time was set at 2736 hours considering the lifetime of the tractor, and the simulation was performed for each gear stage at the engine-rated power conditions. As a result of the simulation, the axle rotational speeds for each gear stage were 39, 77, and 158 rpm, respectively. The range of tractor speed for each gear stage were 1.05-10.22 km/h, 10.74-20.17 km/h, and 20.70-41.40 km/h, respectively. The APE (absolute percentage gear) for the tractor's maximum speed between target value and simulation results were 2.20%, 0.85%, and 3.50%, respectively. Also, the power transmission efficiency for each gear stage were 0-75%, 72-81%, and 69-81%, respectively. The simulation results for the power transmission efficiency of the HMT were similar with the results of the previous research. This was a basic study on the development of the HMT for an agricultural tractor. In future studies, it is necessary to develop a tractor platform and evaluate the performance. The comparison between the simulation model and the HMT tractor should be performed.
The purpose of this study is to analyze Bakst's stage costume illustrations for Ballets Russes. The Russian Ballets has renown in the West since the early 20th century. Diaghilev first made his name as the organizer of art exhibitions in Russia and Western Europe. Diaghilev risked presenting only ballets in 1909, that time Bakst designed $Sch{\acute{e}}h{\acute{e}}razade$, L'Oiseau de Feu and Le Carnival. $Sch{\acute{e}}h{\acute{e}}razade$ was something new which overwhelmed the French people by then. It was seen to be the achievement of Wagner's idea where all the elements; the music, the design, the choreography, and the dancing fused into a perfect whole. The entire production was a hitherto unseen harmony of colors, sounds and movements. For the 1911 season in Paris, Diaghilev planned to present six new ballets and Bakst designed four ballets. Bakst's design of the set and the costume greatly shocked the audience. His "Originality" shines on the fact that he introduced a palette of colors in theater for the first time in history. He used a magic of colors to suggest the secret meaning of what was happening on the stage. The results can be divided into three distinct characteristics. First, oriental designs such as $Cl{\acute{e}}op{\hat{a}}tre$, $Sch{\acute{e}}h{\acute{e}}razade$, L'Oiseau de Feu, La $P{\acute{e}}ri$ and Le Dieu Blue with Russian, Indian and Persian traditional design in headdress and accessories ars found. Second, Le Carnival and La Spectre de la Rose used romantic styles with oriental details. Third, Greek chiton and Himation are used in Narcisse, $H{\acute{e}}l{\grave{e}}ne$ de Sparte, $L'Apr{\grave{e}}s-Midi\;d^{\grave{\;}}un$ Faune and Daphnis et $Chlo{\acute{e}}$ inspirde with various colors and geometic patterns. Bakst's orient of lush colored costumes, head dress, cushions, rugs and hangings became the immediate fashion imitated by Parisian couture houses and interior decorators.
Since the beginning of the 90's, Fashion shows appear to be a type of performance form of art combining with other areas to visually entertain the viewers. This can be explained by the modern tendency to escape from society which requires formality and complicated lifestyles. Fashion shows take place in a scene Influenced by the idea of post-modernism which redefines the definition of space. A church, old factory, unoccupied ground, subway stations, or even place like a waste disposal are used as a setting. The stage set is no longer the T shape run way and the procinium arch has disappeared. The gap between audience and stage has diminished and theatrical element is added to the fashion performance by using viewers living and working environments as setting of the show. The human relation with machine based on the cutting edge technology such as the stage automation, robots and mist making sprinkler system introduces new elements with spontaneity and detailed planning in the stage performance. Music also plays an Important role in attracting viewers. The sound track covers house music to techno music. Instead of music being abstract, folks orchestral music, choirs, piano. even live concert performed by pop artist provide the liveliness of the fashion show. And the catwalk itself is a performance. Model needs to be well trained as the capable talent who can handle sensitive gestures, facial expressions, dancing and choreography. The improvisatorial interaction between audience and model lead to audience participation. Models now range from pop star, ordinary people, handicapped people, to elderly and so on. John Galliano introduced the theatrical factors for the fashion show and Alexander Mcqueen approached the fashion show as the visual art of communication. Hussein Chalayan utilized high technology skewing futurism as if in a magic show. Today the Fashion show tends to be a total performance which includes audience participation, impromptu, and that break the limitation that fashion shows previously had. This will lead the fashion industry in opening new horizon of its own.
In a large scale survey, cluster sampling design in which a set of observation units called clusters are selected is often used to satisfy practical restrictions on time and cost. Especially, a two stage cluster sampling design is preferred when a strong intra-class correlation exists among observation units. The sample Primary Sampling Unit(PSU) and Secondary Sampling Unit(SSU) size for a two stage cluster sample is determined by the survey cost and precision of the estimator calculated. For this study, we derive the optimal sample PSU and SSU size when the population SSU size across the PSU are di erent by extending the result obtained under the assumption that all PSU have the same number of SSU. The results on the sample size are then applied to the $4^{th}$ Korea Hospital Discharge results and is compared to the conventional method. We also propose the optimal sample SSU (discharged patients) size for the $7^{th}$ Korea Hospital Discharge Survey.
Consumers' price related response in the clothing purchase decision-making process includes their expectation of price, price perception, attitude toward price and consequent behaviors. The purposes of this research are to systematically organize consumers' price related responses in the clothing purchase decision-making process, and to explain the effect of price on their purchasing. The qualitative research including shopping observation and in-depth interview was conducted. The result identified stages that showed different price related responses in clothing purchase decision-making process, and clarified each stage's characteristics. In the internal search stage, consumers recalled price information from memory and had a specific expectation about the price. This set a direction for the external search. In the external search stage, consumers selected brands or stores by a non-compensatory evaluating with an expectation of the price, and narrowed these down to several determinant alternatives by actively evaluating the products. In case a sufficient amount of price information was not recalled, the consumer established reference price through the external search. Finally, in the purchasing stage, consumers evaluated the determinant alternatives based on their compensatory evaluation. When perception of price was negative, consumers evaluate price combined with the higher criteria of clothing benefits, such as symbolic value and usability. The research is expected to contribute to predicting consumers' responses to price, and to establishing an effective pricing strategy.

A strainmeter goes through a period of instability immediately after installation. To determine the stability of strainmeters installed around the Andong fault zone, South Korea, an x-MR control chart analysis and a T2 control chart analysis were conducted. The x-MR control chart analysis used an empirically determined 3σ control limit line to identify abnormal data in recently installed strain gauges. In the T2 control chart analysis, the control limit line was set at a confidence of 95%. A comparison of the early stage of measurement with the terminal stage of measurement for three months after installation indicates that stabilization depends on the location and direction of each strain gauge in x-MR control chart analysis. In the T2 control chart analysis, the number of values exceeding the control limit line decreased as the terminal stage was approached. Based on these results, it is suggested that the 3σ control limit line of an x-MR control chart can be used as a standard for single gauge stability, and that the 95% confidence limit of a T2 control chart analysis could be used as the standard for the stability of multi-gauge strainmeters.
