  • The flight control law designed for prototype aircraft often leads to degraded stability and performance, although developed control law verify by non-real time simulation and pilot based evaluations. Therefore, the proper evaluation methods should be applied such that flight control law designed can be verified in real flight environment. The one proposed in this paper is IFS (In-Flight Simulator). Currently, this system has been implemented into the F-18 HARV (High Angle of Attack Research Vehicle), SU-27 and F-16 VISTA (Variable stability In flight Simulation Test Aircraft) programs. The IFS necessary switching control law such as fader logic and integrator stand-by mode to reduce abrupt transient and minimize the integrator effect for each flight control laws switching. This paper addresses the concept of switching mechanism with fader logic of "TFS (Transient Free Switch)" and stand-by mode of "feedback type" based on SSWM (Software Switching Mechanism). And the result of real-time pilot evaluation reveals that the aircraft is stable for inter-conversion of flight control laws and transient response is minimized.

  • Foreign and domestic seawater desalination plant market investigation was performed to analyze the worldwide trend of seawater desalination plant market and to establish the activation plan for seawater desalination plant application. Water demand and seawater desalination related laws and regulations were investigated and analyzed for the activation plan. RO type and large scale plants are popular nowadays however there are only small plants in island region in Korea. There will be about $1 million\;m^3/day$ deficit in 2015 according to the water demand forecasting from Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Land, Transportation, and Maritime Affairs in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to activate the domestic application of seawater desalination plant to secure stable water resources. To activate the domestic application of seawater desalination plant, first, we need to establish regulations, support system in the water service law for seawater desalination plant. Second, related Ministry should increase the support for the operation and management of seawater desalination plant and suggest the construction of seawater desalination plant for water resources security near seaside region.

  • The problem is formulated by applying the Kirchhoff's conception for shell theory. The longitudinal modal displacement functions are assessed by characteristic beam ones meet clamped-clamped end conditions applied at the shell edges. The fundamental natural frequency of rotating functionally graded cylindrical shells of different parameter versus ratios of length-to-diameter and height-to-diameter for a wide range has been reported and investigated through the study with fractions laws. The frequency first increases and gain maximum value with the increase of circumferential wave mode. By increasing different value of height-to-radius ratio, the resulting backward and forward frequencies increase and frequencies decrease on increasing height-to-radius ratio. Moreover, on increasing the rotating speed, the backward frequencies increases and forward frequencies decreases. The trigonometric frequencies are lower than that of exponential and polynomial frequencies. Stability of a cylindrical shell depends highly on these aspects of material. More the shell material sustains a load due to physical situations, the more the shell is stable. Any predicted fatigue due to burden of vibrations is evaded by estimating their dynamical aspects.

  • Advanced Pressurized Water Reactors (APWRs) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs) employ a suppression pool as a heat sink to prevent containment overpressure. Steam can be discharged into the pool through multi-hole spargers or blowdown pipes in both normal and accident conditions. Direct Contact Condensation (DCC) creates sources of momentum and heat. The competition between these two sources determines the development of thermal stratification or mixing of the pool. Thermal stratification is of safety concern as it reduces the cooling capability compared to a completely mixed pool condition. In this work we develop a scaling approach to prediction of the thermal stratification in a water pool induced by steam injection through spargers. Experimental data obtained from large-scale pool tests conducted in the PPOOLEX and PANDA facilities, as well as simulation results obtained using validated codes are used to develop the scaling. Two injection orientations, namely radial injection through multi-hole Sparger Head (SH) and vertical injection through Load Reduction Ring (LRR), are considered. We show that the erosion rate of the cold layer can be estimated using the Richardson number. In this work, scaling laws are proposed to estimate both the (i) transient erosion velocity and (ii) the stable position of the thermocline. These scaling laws are then implemented into a 1D model to simulate the thermal behavior of the pool during steam injection through the sparger.

  • This paper is implemented a control algorithm in order to be stable and minimized to entire train traffic system at delayed case. Signal ing system is described wi th algebraic equations given for train headway, Discrete-event simulation principles are reviewed and a demonstration block signaling model using the technique is implemented. Train congestion at station entrance for short headway operation is demonstrated and the propagation of delays along a platform of trains from any imposed delay to the leading train is also shown. A rail way signaling system is by nature a distributed operation with event triggered at discrete intervals. Although the train kinematic variables of position, velocity, and acceleration are continually changing, the changes are triggered when the trains pass over section boundaries and arrive at signals and route switches. This paper deals with linear-mode1ing, stability and optimal control for the traffic on such metro line of the model is reconstructed in order to adapt the circuits. This paper propose optimal control laws wi th state feedback ensuring the stability of the modeled system for circuits. Simulation results show the benefit to be expected from an efficient traffic control. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. In this paper we develop a linear model describing the traffic for both loop lines, two state space equations have been analyzed. The first one is adapted to the situation where a complete nominal time schedule is available while second one is adapted when only the nominal time interval between trains is known, in both cases we show the unstability of the traffic when the proceeding train is delayed following properties, - They are easily implemented at law cost on existing lines. - They ensure the exponetial stability of loop system. 2. These control laws have been tested on a traffic simulation software taking into the non-linearites and the physical constraints on a metro line. By means of simulation, the efficiency of the proposed optimal control laws are shown.

  • A stable adaptive sensorless speed controller for three-level inverter fed induction motor direct torque control (DTC) system using the radial-basis function network (RBFN) is presented in this paper. Torque ripple in the DTC system for high power induction motor could be drastically reduced with the foregoing researches of switching voltage selection and torque ripple reduction algorithms. However, speed control performance is still influenced by the inherent uncertainty of the system such as parametric uncertainty, external load disturbances and unmodeled dynamics, and its exact mathematical model is much difficult to be obtained due to their strong nonlinearity. In this paper, the inherent uncertainty is approximated on-line by the RBFN, and an additional robust control term is introduced to compensate for the reconstruction error of the RBFN instead of the rich number of rules and additional updated parameters. Control law for stabilizing the system and adaptive laws for updating both of weights in the RBFN and a bounding constant are established so that the whole closed-loop system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov, and the stability proof of the whole control system is presented. Computer simulations as well as experimental results are presented to show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed system.

  • This paper focuses on the modeling and intelligent control of the new Eight-Rotor MAV, which is used to solve the problem of the low coefficient proportion between lift and gravity for the Quadrotor MAV. The Eight-Rotor MAV is a nonlinear plant, so that it is difficult to obtain stable control, due to uncertainties. The purpose of this paper is to propose a robust, stable attitude control strategy for the Eight-Rotor MAV, to accommodate system uncertainties, variations, and external disturbances. First, an interval type-II fuzzy neural network is employed to approximate the nonlinearity function and uncertainty functions in the dynamic model of the Eight-Rotor MAV. Then, the parameters of the interval type-II fuzzy neural network and gain of sliding mode control can be tuned on-line by adaptive laws based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach, and the Lyapunov stability theorem has been used to testify the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. The validity of the proposed control method has been verified in the Eight-Rotor MAV through real-time experiments. The experimental results show that the performance of the interval type-II fuzzy neural network based adaptive sliding mode controller could guarantee the Eight-Rotor MAV control system good performances under uncertainties, variations, and external disturbances. This controller is significantly improved, compared with the conventional adaptive sliding mode controller, and the type-I fuzzy neural network based sliding mode controller.

  • During decades, there has been much progress in understanding of the inelastic behavior of the materials and numerous inelastic constitutive equations have been developed. The complexity of these constitutive equations generally requires a stable and accurate numerical method. To obtain the increment of state variable, its evolution laws are linearized by several approximation methods, such as general midpoint rule(GMR) or general trapezoidal rule(GTR). In this investigation, semi-implicit integration schemes using GTR and GMR were developed and implemented into ABAQUS by means of UMAT subroutine. The comparison of integration schemes was conducted on the simple tension case, and simple shear case and nonproportional loading case. The fully implicit integration(FI) was the most stable but amplified the truncation error when the nonlinearity of state variable is strong. The semi-implicit integration using GTR gave the most accurate results at tension and shear problem. The numerical solutions with refined time increment were always placed between results of GTR and those of FI. GTR integration with adjusting midpoint parameter can be recommended as the best integration method for viscoplastic equation considering nonlinear kinematic hardening.

  • We consider a general class of real-valued Levy processes {X(t), $t\geq0$}, and obtain suitable large deviation results for the empiricals L(t, A) defined by $t^{-1}{\int^t}_01_A$(X(s)ds for t > 0 and a Borel subset A of R. These results are used to obtain the asymptotic behavior of P{Z(t) < a}, where Z(t) = $sup_{u\leqt}\midx(u)\mid$ as $t\longrightarrow\infty$, in terms of the rate function in the large deviation principle. A subclass of these processes is the Feller class: there exist nonrandom functions b(t) and a(t) > 0 such that {(X(t) - b(t))/a(t) : t > 0} is stochastically compact, i.e., each sequence has a weakly convergent subsequence with a nondegenerate limit. The stable processes are in this class, but it is much larger. We consider processes in this class for which b(t) may be taken to be zero. For any t > 0, we consider the renormalized process ${X(u\psi(t))/a(\psi(t)),u\geq0}$, where $\psi$(t) = $t(log log t)^{-1}$, and obtain large deviation probability estimates for $L_{t}(A)$ := $(log log t)^{-1}$${\int_{0}}^{loglogt}1_A$$(X(u\psi(t))/a(\psi(t)))dv$. It turns out that the upper and lower bounds are sharp and depend on the entire compact set of limit laws of {X(t)/a(t)}. The results extend to random walks in the Feller class as well. Earlier results of this nature were obtained by Donsker and Varadhan for symmetric stable processes and by Jain for random walks in the domain of attraction of a stable law.
