  • In this paper, we present static output feedback model predictive tracking control for linear system with uncertainty. The proposed control law is based on integral action form to provide zero oset for constant command signals and the closed loop stability is guaranteed under linear matrix inequality conditions on the terminal weighting matrix using the decreasing monotonicity property of the performance index. Through simulation examples, we illustrate that the proposed schemes can be appropriate tracking controllers for uncertain system.

  • This paper presents an anti-reset windup (ARW) compensation method for saturating control systems with multiple controllers and/or multiloop configuration. The proposed ARW method is motivated by the concept of equilibrium point. The design parameters of the ARW scheme is derive explicitly by minimizing a reasonable performance index. In the event of saturation, the resulting dynamics of the compensated controller reflects the dynamics of the linear closed-loop system. The proposed method guarantees the total stability o fthe resulting control systems under a certain condition. An illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The paper is an extension of the results in Park and Choi[10].

  • In this work, the nutation control of rigid spacecraft with only two momentum wheels is addressed by applying the feedback linearization technique. In this strategy, the primary performance index is to regulate the nutational angle by the momentum control of wheels. The spacecraft attitude equations of motion are transformed to a general linearized form by feedback linearization technique, including a guaranteed control law promising the internal dynamics stability to accomplish the nutation angle small. It is proven that the configuration of inertia properties plays a key role in analyzing spacecraft energy level. The behavior of the momentum wheels is also studied analytically and numerically. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed nonlinear control law for the momentum transfer is verified by conducting numerical simulations.

  • Peak response is a more suitable index than mean response in the light of structural safety. In this study, a controller optimization method is proposed to restrict peak responses of building structures subject to earthquake excitations, which are modeled as partially stationary stochastic process. The constraints are given with specified failure probabilities of peak responses. LQR is chosen to assure stability in numerical process of optimization. Optimization problem is formulated with weightings on controlled outputs as design variables and gradients of objective and constraint functions are derived. Full state feedback controllers designed by the proposed method satisfy various design objectives and output feedback controllers using LQG also yield similar results without significant performance deterioration.

  • Increasing usage of tank cars and their intrinsic instability due to sloshing of contents have caused growing maintenance costs as well as more frequent hazards and defects like derailment and fatigue of bogies and axels. Therefore, varieties of passive solutions have been represented to improve dynamical parameters. In this task, assuming 22 degrees of freedom, dynamic analysis of partially filled tank car traveling on a curved track is investigated. In order to consider stochastic geometry of track; irregularities have been derived randomly by Mont Carlo method. More over the fluid tank model with 1 degree of freedom is also presented by equivalent mechanical approach in terms of pendulum. An active suspension system for described car is designed by using linear quadratic optimal control theory to decrease destructive effects of fluid sloshing. Eventually, the performance of the active suspension system has been compared with that of the passive one and a study is carried out on how active suspension may affect the dynamical parameters such as displacements and Nadal's derailment index.

  • Tandem OLED structures formed by connecting two or more low-voltage electroluminescent units (stacks) are effective for achieving high efficiency at low current density as well as long operational lifetime. We have fabricated white emitting tandem structures with two or three low-voltage white-emitting stacks using transparent organic "PN"-type connectors. Three- stack white tandem structures with efficiency greater than 24 cd/A at D65 and operational stability of about 110,000 h. (extrapolated) at $1000\;cd/m^2$ have been demonstrated. With a stacked structure, the power consumption for displays using an RGBW format can be reduced by 25% compared to previously described formulations. We have also fabricated advanced white tandem structures where the color gamut (NTSC x,y ratio) has been improved to greater than 70% using standard color filters. The white OLEDs can also be used to increase the colorrendering index CRI (>80%), an important consideration for solid-state lighting.

  • The robust self-tuning controller is designed which is guaranteed the asymptotic regulation and tracking in the presence of a bounded parameter perturbation. The global stability in the presence of a finite noise and disturbance is ensured. The controller has a error driven structure, and involves the common model of a disturbance and reference input in the internal model. The adaptive system tunes the controller parameters such that the quadratic performance index which involves a weighting factor is optimized.

  • This paper is concerned with the robust control of LQ state feedback regulators with poles in a specified region in the presence of system uncertainty. The robust stability results for the constant and nonlinear time varying perturbations are derived in terms of bounds of the perturbed system matrices and the weighting matrices in the performance index of LQ problem. The theoretical results are applied to the gap control problem of an attractive-type-magnetic levitation system and the effectiveness is proved by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer.

  • The retail industry has been coping with changes in the retail market environment for the past decade or so. Using a total of 14 companies, this study aims to reveal the effect of differences in sales channels and retail business styles on the management performance of retail companies. The financial statements of these companies were used to analyze the five key indicators of their management performance. As research variables, sales channels, retail business style and business period were used as factors affecting their management performance. ANOVA or MANOVA was performed to test differences in management performance between groups according to the number of factors. The effect of three factors on the management performance of retail companies was found to be significant. The multi-comparison test revealed significant differences among retail business styles in terms of the five key indicators. TV home-shopping performed better than others in terms of stability and profitability. Internet and mobile shopping companies performed poorly in terms of profitability compared to others and performed higher than department stores in terms of growth, activity, and productivity.

  • The purpose of this study is to describe the roles of carbon dioxide in the climate change, and carbon dioxide reduction policies in some countries. In addition, ways to cope with climate change in Korea are also discussed. Currently, global temperatures are rising due to the carbon dioxide produced by human beings. Global temperatures will rise approximately $6^{\circ}C$ until 2100 if we emit carbon dioxide at a present rate. Temperature rise will affect the terrestrial and oceanic resources, and ultimately influence the socio-economic structures including political stability. Most of the carbon dioxide comes from fossil fuels. Therefore, it is urgent to reduce the use of energy, which comes from fossil fuels. Solving the climate change due to the increases in carbon dioxide is a global problem. Korea should participate in the international community and cooperate with each other in order to reduce the carbon dioxide concentration. No policy was announced for the reduction of carbon dioxide so far. Korea should make a policy for the reduction of carbon dioxide in a specific year compared to that of certain standard year such as 1990 or 2005. Making policy should be based on the scientific result of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted and absorbed. Germanwatch announced the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) in order to evaluate an effort to reduce the carbon dioxide for 56 countries which emits 90 % of global carbon dioxide. Ranking for Korea is 51 among 56 countries. This clearly indicates that the appropriate carbon dioxide reduction has not been exercised yet in Korea. Researchers have a moral responsibility to provide updated new ideas and knowledges regarding climate change. Politicians should have a sharp insight to judge the ideas provided by researchers. People need an ethics to reduce the carbon dioxide in every day's life. Scientific research should not be influenced by stress caused by external budget and negative impact of capitalism. Science should be based on the pure curiosity.
