  • In this paper, we study the influence of infection ratio on gradual reduction of drug dose for the five state HIV infection model that explicitly includes the population of the virus. We first compute all equilibrium points of the model and investigate the stabilities of them. As a result, a bifurcation diagram is obtained which shows a change in the equilibrium points, or in their stability properties, as the drug effect $\eta$ is varied from 0 to 1(alternatively, drug dose is changed from 1 to 0). Based on the bifurcation diagram, we show that the gradual reduction of drug dose can be applied for the treatment of AIDS patients. Moreover, we analyze the influence of the variation of infection ratio on the gradual reduction treatment. Computer simulation results are also presented to validate the proposed results.

  • In this paper, we study the NvBAT treatment for AIDS patients that is combined with PI rather than RTI, while the Previous results have been focused on the NvBAT in conjuction with RTI. To this end, we obtain a bifurcation diagram which shows a change in the equilibrium points, and in their stability properties as the PI drug effect is varied. Based on the bifurcation diagram, we show that the NvBAT can be combined with drug PI for the treatment of AIDS patients. Various computer simulation results are included, which show the superiority of the NvBAT with PI over that with RTI. Accordition to simulation result, the NvBAT combined with PI is able to keep virus load level lower than that combined with RTI, which is crucial to avoid the emergence of drug-resistant mutants. Moreover, it is shown that, for some AIDS patients, NvBAT with RTI cannot make patients into long term non-progressor, while NvBAT with PI can.

  • In this paper we investigate the topological stability of induced homeomorphisms on a hyperspace. More precisely, we show that an expansive induced homeomorphism on a hyperspace is topologically stable. We also give examples and a diagram about implications to illustrate our results.

  • In this paper, traffic modeling and control design was considered to analyze and improve the stability of train diagram in the open-loop Metro line. A complete discrete-event traffic model describing the natural instability of open-loop metro line is analyzed. The traffic stability properties are introduced and easy-to-implement state feed back traffic control algorithms are designed, which satisfied with system stability.

  • The objectives of the study are to present simple physical and mathematical models of liquid fuel in the tank of an aerospace vehicle such launch vehicle or missile and to investigate its dynamic stability for a parameter space. In this paper, liquid in the container is modeled as multi-mass system subject to parametric excitations, and a stability diagram for determination of stable-unstable regions of the motion is obtained by using an analytical method. Also, computer simulations are conducted at various parameter points to verify the analytical results, and time histories of motion are compared to explain the effect of variation of parameters of the system.

  • We report the solid-liquid phase equilibria on the $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (GdBCO) stability phase diagram in low oxygen pressures ($PO_2$) ranging from 1 to 100 mTorr. On the basis of the GdBCO stability phase diagram experimentally determined in low oxygen pressures, the isothermal sections of three different phase fields on log $PO_2$ vs. 1/T diagram were schematically constructed within the $Gd_2O_3-Ba_2CuO_y-Cu_2O$ ternary system, and the solid-liquid phase equilibria in each phase field were described. The invariant points on the phase boundaries include the following three reactions; a pseudobinary peritectic reaction of $GdBCO{\leftrightarrow}Gd_2O_3$ + liquid ($L_1$), a ternary peritectic reaction of $GdBCO{\leftrightarrow}Gd_2O_3+GdBa_6Cu_3O_y$ + liquid ($L_2$), and a monotectic reaction of $L_1{\leftrightarrow}GdBa_6Cu_3O_y+L_2$. A conspicuous feature of the solid-liquid phase equilibria in low $PO_2$ regime (1 - 100 mTorr) is that the GdBCO phase is decomposed into $Gd_2O_3+L_1$ or $Gd_2O_3+GdBa_6Cu_3O_y+L_2$ rather than $Gd_2BaCuO_5+L$ well-known in high $PO_2$ like air.

  • In this paper, I-PDA controller based on Coefficient Diagram Method incorporating feedforward controller is applied by robotic manipulators. Robotic manipulator models contain uncertain elements, which are not known exactly. Therefore, the dynamics of robotic manipulators are generally classified as uncertain dynamic system. The controller considered for the robotic manipulators need to move payloads of different masses from one point to another with good balance of the stability and response, consequently we propose I-PDA controller based on Coefficient Diagram Method incorporating FFC. The effectiveness of the controller for different system type of robotic manipulators is demonstrated by the simulation results.

  • This study describes a system that monitors the tool and cutting state of automatic beveling operation in real time. As a signal for cutting state monitoring, a motor current detected from the spindle drive system of the automatic beveling machine is used to monitor abnormal state. Because automatic beveling is processed using a face milling cutter, the cutting force mechanism is the same as the milling process. The predicted cutting torque is obtained using a cutting force model based on specific cutting resistance. Then, the predicted cutting torque is converted into the spindle motor current value, and cutting state stability is diagnosed by comparing it with the motor current value detected during beveling operation. The experimental results show that the spindle motor current can detect abnormal cutting state such as overload and tool wear during beveling operation, and can diagnose the cutting stability using the proposed equip-current line diagram.

  • In an attempt to clarity the effect of X-irradiation on the activity of surfactant in rabbits, and also to observe the possible difference when the irradiation was made in single or fractionated dose, X-ray in dose of 900 r was irradiated to rabbits either in single or fractionated dose of 300 r each day for three day, Tension-area diagram of lung extract was recorded automatically by a modified Langmuir-Wilhelmy balance with a synchronized recording system designed in this department. The surface tension of lung extract was measured at 1,3,5,24, and 48 hours post-irradiation, and the results were compared with the non-irradiated normal group. The result obtained are summerized as follows: 1) The maximal surface tension, minimal surface tension, width of the tension-area diagram at the surface area of 40% in lung extract, and stability index of the normal rabbit lung extracts were 40.73 dynes/cm, 8.96 dynes/cm. 20.71 dynes/cm, and 1.28 respectively. 2) Activity of surfactant was significantly depressed by X-irradiation, and the pattern of depression was more prominent in the single irradiation group than in the fractionated group. 3) It was found that the changes of the width of the tension-area diagram at the surface area of 40% in lung extract and stability indices corresponded well with that of the maximal or minimal surface tension.
