An Amberlite XAD-4 resin impregnated with di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid was prepared and its adsorption-desorption behaviors with Sr(II) ions under various conditions was examined. The resin was characterized by fourier transform infrared and thermal analysis techniques. The effects contact time, temperature, pH, interfering ions and eluants were studied. Results showed that adsorption of Sr (II) well fitted with pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The equilibrium adsorption data of Sr (II) on the impregnated resin were analyzed by Jossens, Weber-van Vliet, Redlich-Peterson and Fritz-Schlunder models to find out desirable equilibrium condition. Among them, the Fritz-Schlunder model best fitted to the experimental data. The maximum sorption capacity of impregnated resin amounted to 0.45 mg/ g at pH 8.0 and $20^{\circ}C$.

In this work, a quantitative method of the sequential separation of $^{90}Pu,\;^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ nuclides was developed in environmental soil samples using by an anion exchange resin connected with a Sr Spec resin. The sequential methods of Pu, $^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ nuclides can reduce analysis cost and time. With the sequential methodupdated in this study, the activity concentrations of $^{239,240}Pu,\;^{90}Sr$ and $^{241}Am$ in the IAEA reference materials were close to the reference values reported by the IAEA.
The magnetic polishing is the useful method to finish some machinery fabrications by using magnetic power This method is one of the precision techniques and has an aim for clean technology in the transportation of the pure gas in the clean pipes. The magnetic abrasive polishing method is not so common in the field of machine that it is not known to widely. There are rarely researcher in this feilld because of non-effectiveness of magnetic abrasive. Therefore, in this paper we deals with the development of the magnetic abrasive with the fse of Sr-Ferrite. In this development, abrasive grain A has been made by using the resin bond fabricated at low temperature. And magnetic abrasive powder was fabricated from the Sr-Ferrite which was crushed into 200 mesh. The XRD analysis result shows that only A abrasive and Sr-Ferrite crystal peaks were detected, explaining that resin bond was not any more to contribute chemical reaction. From SEM analysis, we found that A abrasive and Sr-Ferrite were strongly bonding with each other.

PURPOSE. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of surface treatments on microtensile bond strengths (MTBSs) of two types of indirect resin composites bonded to a conventional direct resin composite. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Indirect resin composite blocks of Ceramage and SR Nexco were prepared in a plastic mold having a dimension of $10{\times}10{\times}4\;mm$. These composite blocks were divided into three groups according to their surface treatments: Group1: Sandblast (SB); Group2: Sandblast and ultrasonically clean (SB+UL); Group3: Sandblast plus silane (SB+SI). After bonding with direct resin composite, indirect-direct resin composite blocks were kept in distilled water for 24 hours at $37^{\circ}C$ and cut into microbars with the dimension of $1{\times}1{\times}8\;mm$. Microbar specimens (n = 40 per group) were loaded using a universal testing machine. Failure modes and compositions were evaluated by SEM. The statistical analyses of MTBS were performed by two-way ANOVA and Dunnett's test at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. Surface treatments and brands had effects on the MTBS without an interaction between these two factors. For SR Nexco, the MTBSs of SB and SB+SI group were significantly higher than that of SB+UL. For Ceramage, the MTBSs of SB and SB+SI were significantly higher than that of SB+UL. The mean MTBS of the Ceramage specimens was significantly higher than that of SR Nexco for all surface treatments. CONCLUSION. Sandblasting with or without silane application could improve the bond strengths of repaired indirect resin composites to a conventional direct resin composite.
In this paper deals with behavior of the magnetic abrasive using Sr-Ferrite on polishing charateristiccs in a internal finishing of staninless steel pipe a tying magnetic abrasive polishing. The magnetic polishing is the useful method to finish some machinery fabrications by using magnetic power. This method is one of the precision techniques and has in aim for clean technology in the transportation of the pure gas in the clean pipes. The magnetic abrasive polishing method is not so common in the field of machine that it is not known to widely. There are rarely researcher in this field because of non-effectiveness of magnetic abrasive. Therefore, in this paper we deals with the development of the magnetic abrasive with the use of Sr-Ferrite. In this development, abrasive grain SiC has been made by using the resin bond fabricated at low temperature. And magnetic abrasive powder was fabricated from the Sr-Ferrite which was crushed into 200 mesh. The XRD analysis result shows that only SiC abrasive and Sr-Ferrite crystal peaks were detected, explaining that resin bond was not any more to contribute chemical reaction. From MACRO analysis, we found that SiC abrasive and Sr-Ferrite were strongly bonding with each other.
Injection processing of denture base resin was introduced by Pryer in 1942, in an attempt to reduce processing shrinkage. More recently a continuous-pressure injection type technique has been developed (SR-Ivocap, Ivoclar AG, Schaan, Liechtenstein.), and it reduced processing error and increased resin density. The purpose of this study was to compare tensile bond strength of heat-cured, cold-cured, and light-cured denture base resin bonded to continuous-pressure injection type resin. To know it, 60 cylindrical resin specimens were fabricated, and tensile bond strength were measured. The results were as follows : 1. The mean tensile bond strength bonded to continuous-pressure injection type resin was lower than bonded to conventional heat cured resin. But tensile bond strength of conventional heat cured resin bonding with light cured resin was lower than continuous-pressure injection type resin. 2. Of the tensile bond strength bonded to continuous-pressure injection type resin, tensile bond strength bonding with continuous-pressure injection type resin was the greatest(but not significantly different from bonding with conventional heat cured resin), followed by cold-cured, light-cured resin. 3. Of the tensile bond strength bonded to conventional heat cured resin, tensile bond strength bonding with conventional heat cured resin was the greatest and followed by continuous-pressure injection type resin, cold-cured resin, light-cured resin. According to these results, bonding of continuous-pressure injection type resin with conventional heat cured resin or continuous-pressure injection type resin is acceptable, but bonding with light-cured resin is questionable.
Partial or complete prosthesis is needed when teeth are lost due to various kinds of reason. Artificial teeth recover occlusion instead of natural teeth. Artificial teeth are required of esthetics, fragile resistance and abrasive resistance. Artificial tooth is made of acrylic resin or porcelain. Nowadays, acrylic resin artificial teeth are mainly used. Acrylic resin teeth are occluded with natural teeth, gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy or porcelain etc. Acrylic resin teeth have similar translucency, gloss of natural teeth. And it has good chemical bond with denture base material, but it has low wear resistance. The aim of this study is to compare wear resistance among several denture teeth(Endura, SR-orthosit-PE, Planustar) and between artificial resin denture teeth and opposing 3 restorative materials(gold, Ni-Cr alloy, porcelain). Wear tests were conducted with a rotating wear testing apparatus(pin-on-disk type wear tester) under conditions of rpm 180, 75 minutes and constant loading of 50N. The upper part was the cusp of maxillary first molar and the lower part was a disk type restorative materials. To make similar oral environment, water was supplied continually. The acrylic resin teeth wear was determined by weighing the cusp each 5 minutes during 75 minutes test. Vicker's hardness tester was used to evaluate the surface hardness of test specimens. The SEM was used to evaluate the wear surfaces. The results were as follows: 1. Wear rates of acrylic resin teeth opposing to the restorative materials were high in order of Porcelain, Gold, Ni-Cr alloy (p<.05). 2. Wear resistance rate opposing to the Porcelain disk, was shown in order of Endura, SR-orthosit-PE, Planustar. The wear rate of opposing to porcelain disk was above two times more than that of other groups (p<.05). 3. Wear resistance rates opposing to the Gold, Ni-Cr alloy disk, was shown in order of Endura, SR-orthosit-PE, Planustar (p<.05). 4. A degree of the surface hardness is directly proportional to the degree of wear resistance. There are statistically significant differences between each groups (p<.05).
The aim of this study was to compare wear resistance of resin denture teeth opposing various restorative materials. The wear resistance of conventional acrylic resin teeth(Trubyte Biotone) and three high-strength resin teeth(Bioform IPN, Endura, SR-Orthosit-PE) opposing different restorative materials(gold alloys, dental porcelain, composite resin) was compared. Wear tests were conducted with a sliding-induced wear testing apparatus which applied 100,000 strokes to the specimen in a mesio-distal direction under conditions of 100 stroke/min and constant loading of 1Kgf/tooth. Wear resistance of the resin denture teeth was evaluated by the following criteria : 1) wear depth, 2) weight loss, and 3) SEM observation. Results were as follows. 1. When opposed to gold alloys and composite resin, high-strength resin teeth showed superior wear resistance compared to acrylic resin teeth. But, in cases opposing dental porcelain, differences between the wear of the high-strength and acrylic resin teeth were not statistically significant (p<0.05). 2. When comparing wear resistance among high-strength resin teeth, opposing gold alloys, Endura was slightly more resistant and while in cases opposing dental porcelain, SR-Orthosit-PE was showed to be slightly resistant(p<0.05). 3. The wear of high-strength resin teeth was greater by 5 to 7 times when opposing porcelain and 2 to 3 times when opposing composite resin compared to gold alloys(p<0.05). 4. SEM observations of the wear surface showed that wear of resin teeth opposing gold alloys is a fatigue type of wear and wear of resin teeth opposing dental porcelain is fatigue and abrasion type of wear. Trubyte Biotone showed more severe fatigue type of wear than high-strength resin teeth. In conclusion, the use of dental porcelain should seriously be considered as restorative material in cases opposing resin denture teeth and improvement seems to be needed on resin teeth in the areas of wear resistance.
Statement of problem : Recently, in attempts to reinforce the acrylic resin and to reduce the polymerization shrinkage, it has been reported that adding vinyloligo-silsesquioxane (vinyl-POSS) to PMMA significantly compensates for polymerization shrinkage and somewhat increases the fracture resistance. Purpose : There haven't been any studies on abrasion that can affect the adaptation of the denture in long-term use. In this study abrasion resistance was compared between acrylic resin with vinyl-POSS and commercialized acrylic resin for denture base. In addition, the difference in abrasion resistance according to molding methods was compared. Material and method : Using PaladentR 20 including vinyl-POSS. PaladentR 20, Lucitone 199R, SR IvocapR, denture bases were fabricated using compression molding technique and continuous-pressure injection technique. Surface hardness and abrasion were measured for each group, and the worn surfaces were observed under a scanning electron microscope. Results : 1. When surface hardness was measured for each material and molding technique, there was no statistically significant difference among the materials. (p<0.05) 2. When same denture base material and molding technique were used, the abrasion due to toothpaste solution was 5 times as severe as the abrasion due to soap solution. 3, When toothpaste solution was used, the abrasion decreased in the order of PaladentR20, PaladentR 20 including vinyl-POSS, SR IvocapR, and Lucitone 199R. However statistically significant difference was seen only among PaladentR 20, SR IvocapR, and Lucitone 199R. (p<0.05). 4. When soap solution was used, the abrasion was more severe in PaladentR 20 and including vinyl-POSS PaladentR 20 groups than in SR IvocapR and Lucitone 199R groups. (p<0.05). Conclusion : Addition of vinyl-POSS doesn't improve the abrasion resistance, and the abrasion resistance was similar to those of existing materials. Additional studies under different conditions are needed. For clinical application of vinyl-POSS, further investigations with different requirements and conditions are necessary.
