In this paper, we propose a method combining an accelerometer with a cross structured light system to estimate the golf green slope. The cross-line laser provides two laser planes whose functions are computed with respect to the camera coordinate frame using a least square optimization. By capturing the projections of the cross-line laser on the golf slope in a static pose using a camera, two 3D curves’ functions are approximated as high order polynomials corresponding to the camera coordinate frame. Curves’ functions are then expressed in the world coordinate frame utilizing a rotation matrix that is estimated based on the accelerometer’s output. The curves provide some important information of the green such as the height and the slope’s angle. The curves estimation accuracy is verified via some experiments which use OptiTrack camera system as a ground-truth reference.
This paper was developed to computer program, which is about to analyize nonlinear behavior of structural member and frame including to geometric and material nonlineality, and formulated to the relationship of stress-strain of steel. In order to examplity the efficiency of this program, the numerical analysis was done for H section steel beam and square steel tube column subjected to monotonic load, and braced steel frame subjected to repeated horizontal forces. The obtained results by this program were in accordance with existing experimental and analytical results respectively.

This paper proposes a speech processing system based on a model of the human auditory system and a noise reduction neural network with fast Fourier transform (FFT) amplitude and phase spectrums for noise reduction under background noise environments. The proposed system reduces noise signals by using the proposed neural network based on FFT amplitude spectrums and phase spectrums, then implements auditory processing frame by frame after detecting voiced and transitional sections for each frame. The results of the proposed system are compared with the results of a conventional spectral subtraction method and minimum mean-square error log-spectral amplitude estimator at different noise levels. The effectiveness of the proposed system is experimentally confirmed based on measuring the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In this experiment, the maximal improvement in the output SNR values with the proposed method is approximately 11.5 dB better for car noise, and 11.0 dB better for street noise, when compared with a conventional spectral subtraction method.

In this paper, we propose a new fast algorithm for effective scene change detection. The proposed algorithm exploits Otsu threshold matching technique, which was proposed earlier. In this method, the current and the reference frames are divided into square blocks of particular size. After doing so, the pixel histogram of each block is generated. According to Otsu method, every histogram distribution is assumed to be bimodal, i.e. pixel distribution can be divided into two groups, based on within-group variance value. The pixel value that minimizes the within-group variance is said to be Otsu threshold. After Otsu threshold is found, the same procedure is performed at the reference frame. If the difference between Otsu threshold of a block in the current frame and co-located block in the reference frame is larger than predefined threshold, then a scene change between those two blocks is detected.
The objective of the present work is to evaluate the influence of two different methods of improving the ductility of Reinforced Concrete Frames and their influence on the full range behavior of the frames with M40 grade of concrete. For this purpose one fourth scale reinforced concrete square frames are experimentally tested subjected to static cyclic loading for three cases and monotonic loading for one case. The parameters are varied as method introducing ductility to the frame viz. (i) by using conventional concrete (ii) adding 1% of steel fibres by volume of concrete at hinging zones (iii) using self-compacting concrete with fibres at hinging zones. The energy absorption by ductile and non-ductile frames has been compared. The behavior of frames tested under cyclic loading have revealed that there is a positive trend in improvement of ductility of frames when fibrous concrete is used along with self-compacting concrete.
Operational modal analysis is being widely used in aerospace, mechanical and civil engineering. Common research fields include optimal design and rehabilitation under dynamic loads, structural health monitoring, modification and control of dynamic response and analytical model updating. In many practical cases, influence of noise contamination in the recorded data makes it difficult to identify the modal parameters accurately. In this paper, an improved frequency domain method called Enhanced Least Square Complex Frequency (eLSCF) is developed to extract modal parameters from noisy recorded data. The proposed method makes the use of pre-defined approximate mode shape vectors to refine the cross-power spectral density matrix and extract fundamental frequency for the mode of interest. The efficiency of the proposed method is illustrated using an example five story shear frame loaded by random excitation and different noise signals.
The IMS (Infrared or Intermediate-wide, Medium-deep Survey) program for the search of z~7 quasars has been running since last year. In order to discover enough number of quasars at z~7, a strategy sufficing both survey area (~150 square deg.) and image depth (23 AB mag in J filter), together with using existing multi-wavelength data is chosen. We have been carrying imaging observations with the UKIRT 4m telescope, now covering ~50 square deg. (including UKIDSS survey area) of J-band data. We then used selection in color-color space to choose high-z quasar candidates having the rest-frame Ly-alpha break, and to exclude contamination from stars and galaxies at low-z. We show quasar candidates of redshift z~7 and z~6, out of 25 square deg. data analyzed, and note implications and future plans.
In a speech coding system using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be involved a distortion of speech quality in case coexist with a voiced and an unvoiced consonants in a frame. So, I propose TSIUVC(Transition Segment Including Unvoiced Consonant) searching and extraction method in order to uncoexistent with a voiced and unvoiced consonants in a frame. This paper present a new method of TSIUVC approximate-synthesis by using Least Mean Square and frequency band division. As a result, this method obtain a high quality approximation-synthesis waveforms within TSIUVC by using frequency information of 0.547KHz below and 2.813KHz above. The important thing is that the maximum error signal can be made with low distortion approximation-synthesis waveform within TSIUVC. This method has the capability of being applied to a new speech coding of Voiced/Silence/TSIUVC, speech analysis and speech synthesis.

In this study, a square rounding sidewalk block frame was developed considering the simplicity of construction and the superiority of aesthetics. In addition, it is possible to prevent damage, deformation, and settlement of adjacent sidewalk blocks due to plastic deformation during car impact load of installed bollad. A non-linear structural analysis was performed through finite element analysis to examine the performance of a car crash to which this was applied. Structural safety was confirmed through car crash simulation according to the direction of impact, and it is estimated that the function can be restored by replacing some parts in case of damage due to impact.
When precast concrete infill panels are connected to steel frames at discrete locations, interaction at the structural interface is neither complete nor absent. The contribution of precast concrete infill panels to the lateral stiffness and strength of steel frames can be significant depending on the quality, quantity and location of the discrete interface connections. This paper presents preliminary experimental and finite element results of an investigation into the composite behaviour of a square steel frame with a precast concrete infill panel subject to lateral loading. The panel is connected at the corners to the ends of the top and bottom beams. The Frame-to-Panel-Connection, FPC4 between steel beam and concrete panel consists of two parts. A T-section with five achor bars welded to the top of the flange is cast in at the panel corner at a forty five degree angle. The triangularly shaped web of the T-section is reinforced against local buckling with a stiffener plate. The second part consists of a triangular gusset plate which is welded to the beam flange. Two bolts acting in shear connect the gusset plate to the web of the T-section. This way the connection can act in tension or compression. Experimental pull-out tests on individual connections allowed their load deflection characteristics to be established. A full scale experiment was performed on a one-storey one-bay 3 by 3 m infilled frame structure which was horizontally loaded at the top. With the characteristics of the frame-to-panel connections obtained from the experiments on individual connections, finite element analyses were performed on the infilled frame structures taking geometric and material non-linear behaviour of the structural components into account. The finite element model yields reasonably accurate results. This allows the model to be used for further parametric studies.
