  • This paper shows a method to design complementary filter using least square. The complementary filter is one of useful filters estimating angle. The basic concept of this filter is to enhance advantages of each sensor that angle detecting using a gyroscope has good accuracy at a high frequency and an accelerometer at a low frequency. When designing complementary filter, the most commonly used method is using cut-off frequency. However, it may be not easy to obtain a cut-off frequency. This paper presents a systematic method to determine the coefficients of the complementary filter using well-known linear least squares minimizing error between estimating angle and true angle.

  • This study presents steady-state finite element analysis of three-dimensional hot extrusion of sections through square dies. The objective of this study is to develop a steady-state finite element method for hot extrusion through square dies, and to provide theoretical basis for the optimal die design and process control in the extrusion technology. In the present work, steady-state assumption is applied to both analyses of deformation and temperature. The analysis of temperature distribution includes heat transfer. Convection like element is adopted for the heat transfer analysis between billet and container, and also billet and die. Distributions of temperature, effective strain rate, velocity and mean stress are discussed to design extrusion die effectively.

  • In recent years, new construction methods have been required to reduce the construction cost and increase the available area in an environment where construction work is frequently performed in a narrow urban area like Korea. As a result of these studies, slim floor composite beam has been suggested. Slim floor composite beam can reduce required depth because web of steel beam is embedded in the slab, so it is effective to reduce floor height and increase the available area. The purpose of this study is the floor height reduction evaluation by comparing system consisting of reinforced concrete, steel, and slim floor using square-shape steel pipe. After doing structural design for a typical plan, checked effectiveness by comparing each design plan. It is proven that slim floor composite beam can reduce required depth effectively comparing required materials of other system.

  • In square die extrusion, flow guide and ide land play important roles for controlling the metal flow in die design. In the present work, the flow guide and the die land are considered for the die construction. Based on ALE description , rigid-viscoplastic finite element analysid is carried out to assess the effects of process and die design parameters. The thermal state affects greatly the product quality in hot extrusion. in the present work, the temperature distribution is also analyzed in theframwork of rigid-viscoplastic finite element computation. As a computational example, hot square die extrusion with flow guide and die land has been analyzed for the profile of a H section.

  • We present a state-space approach to design a passivity-based dynamic output feedback control of a finite collection of non-square linear systems. We first determine a squaring gain matrix and an additional dynamics that is connected to the systems in a feedforward way, then a static passivating (i.e. rendering passive) control law is designed. Consequently, the actual feedback controller will be the static control law combined with the feedforward dynamics. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the parallel feedfornward compensator (PFC) is given by the static output feedback fomulation, which enables to utilize linear matrix inequality (LMI). The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by some examples including the systems which can be stabilized by the proprotional-derivative (PD) control law.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of the Dressing-Room lay-out in brand-apartments as the strategy for the differentiation. The 441 floor-plans are collected by searching web-sites of the 5 main construction companies. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) The Dressing-Rooms are designed in the 331 cases among 441 the floor-plans including the Dressing-Room are generally over 30 Pyeong(about 99 square meters). In addition, the entire cases above 60 Pyeong(about 198 square meters) include the Dressing-Room. (2) The size of the Dressing-Room is increased in proportion to the square meter. However, the ratio is the small range of fluctuation. (3) The types of Dressing-Room units are classified 4 categories : a dressing-room joined powder room, a dressing-room separated from bathroom, a dressing room without powder room, a powder room centering with dressing room and bathroom.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Hangul font on reading speed when texts are displayed on the computer screen. Background: Reading performance is influenced by fonts. However, there are few studies of Hangul font from a cognitive perspective. Fonts could affect reading performance directly and indirectly, interacting with other visual-perceptual factors such as size, word spacing, and line spacing. Method: In experiment 1, two variables were manipulated; a frame condition(square frame non-square frame) and a stroke condition(serif sans-serif). According to each condition, one of the four fonts was applied to the texts. The height of the four fonts was controlled. The participants were asked to read aloud the presented texts. In experiment 2, the non-square frame fonts were adjusted to have approximately the same size, width, letter spacing, and word spacing as the square frame fonts. The experimental design and task used in experiment 2 were identical with experiment 1. Results: In general, reading speed was faster in the square frame fonts than in the non-square frame fonts. The reading speed was not significantly different across stroke conditions. Conclusion: The frame of Hangul font significantly influenced reading speed. These results suggest that the type of Hangul font is a factor to affect reading performance. Application: The frame of fonts should be considered in designing of new fonts. The square frame fonts should be the preferred choice to enhance legibility.

  • In $4{\times}4$ graeco-latin square design, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect are superior to powers of parametric statistic without regard to the effect structure with equally or unequally spaced effect levels as well as the type of population distributions such as exponential, double exponential, normal and uniform distribution. As numbers of block effect or effect sizes are decreased, powers of rank transformed statistic are much higher than powers of parametric statistic. In case that block effects are smaller than a main effect or one block effect is higher than other block effects, powers of rank transformed statistic are much higher than powers of parametric statistic in $4{\times}4$ graeco-latin square design with three block effects and one main effect.

  • In this study, a structural concrete square beam was developed using the centrifugal molding technique. In order to secure the bending stiffness of the cross section, the hollow rate of the cross section was set to 10% or less. Instead of using the current poor mixture of concrete, a special formwork for producing a centrifugal square beam was manufactured, and a concrete mixing ratio with a high slump (150-200) and a design strength of 100 MPa or more was developed and applied. The produced centrifugally formed rectangular beams were subjected to performance tests according to the standard bending and shear test standards for centrifugally formed members. The static load test results for the four specimens exceeded both the nominal bending strength and nominal shear strength, which are design values through structural design, proving the structural reliability of the ultra-high-strength centrifugally formed square beam.

  • A multiple vector reductive processing occurs during the vector inner product operation ([C] = [A] $\bigodot$,$\square$ [B]) and proceeds at the hardware dyadic pipeline unit. Every scalar result has to be generated with the component merging delay time in the multiple vector reduction($\bigodot$). In this paper we propose a new design method by which the component merging time could be eliminated from the multiple reduction and the scalar results from the reduction($\bigodot$) could be generated nearly in the almost same condensed time as the input components are fel>ded in the dyadic pipeline unitlo) or the output components are drained out of the dyadic pipeline unit($\square$), so called a dedicated chained pipeline unit for only a inner product operation.
