  • This paper propose the new approach of the quantity effect by high efficiency inductor characteristic to the harmonic suppression of the lowpass filter. We applied the reliable de-embedding process in order to extract the precise elements values. Moreover, for the effective its application and comparison, the variable stepped impedance low pass filters with a same specification are designed. The proposed procedure is expected to handle the overall filter performance and to construct a synthesized equivalent circuit from its determined specification.

  • A W-band frequency octupler is implemented on 100-nm GaAs pHEMT process. The fabricated octupler can be used as a local oscillator or a signal source of W-band transceivers. Three common-source doublers are connected in cascade to multiply an input signal of 10.75 GHz to 83 GHz. A common-source amplifier is followed for each doubler to improve the conversion gain and suppress the unwanted harmonics. The fabricated octupler showes high output of more than 6 dBm in the 80 - 84 GHz band and achieved excellent spurious suppression performance over 20 dBc.

  • We demonstrate a $2.1\;{\times}\;1.0\;{\times}\;0.1cm^3$ sized compact transmitter using LTCC System-in-Package (SiP) technology for 60GHz-band wireless communication applications. For low-attenuation characteristics and resonance suppression of the SiP, we have proposed and demonstrated a coplanar double wire-bond transition and novel CPW-to-stripline transition integrating air-cavities as well as novel air-cavities embedded CPW line. The fabricated transmitter achieves an output of 13dBm at a RF frequency of 62GHz, an IF frequency of 2.4GHz, and a LO frequency of 59.6GHz. The up-conversion gain is 11dB, while the LO signal is suppressed with the image rejection mixer below -21.4dBc, and the image and spurious signals are also suppressed below -31dBc.

  • Harmonic band of bandpass filter(BPF) is suppressed using coupled mushroom structure. Between double positive (DPS) transmission line such as microstrip and double negative(DNG) transmission line such as one dimensional mushroom structure, strong coupling broadly arises in the cross range of dispersion curves of isolated microstrip and mushroom structure because of complex propagation constant in the cross range. Strong coupling inhibits wave propagation, so that this kind of structure can be utilized as bandstop filter(BSF). This BSF utilizes coupled transmission line instead of coupled resonator, resulting in broad bandwidth(>30 %), shan-rejection, and high rejection level. The strong coupling between DPS and DNG transmissionline makes it possible shorten coupling length, resulting in compact size. In this paper, parallel coupled BSF having center frequency of 4 GHz and 3 dB fractional bandwidth of 40 % is designed and utilized to suppressed spurious mode of two bandpass filters.

  • It is very important to design of QAM modulator of high spectral efficiency for high speed data transmission. In this paper, typical 16-QAM modulator is designed by modification design of DDFS(direct digital frequency synthesizer). DDFS generates sinusoidal waveform digitally to the frequency setting word. Phase modulation is accuratly made by control of a generated phase increment value and amplitude modulation is accomplished in the D/A converter output by control of amplitude level. For the suppression of harmonics and glitch, dual-structured DDFS is studied to improve the spurious characteristics. P-Spice is used for design and simulation in mixed mode. Also we can get the satisfactory results of designed 16-QAM modulator from the constellation output.

  • In this paper, a compact partial H-plane filter with periodic structure is proposed. Guided wavelength of periodic structure' is reduced by slow wave effect. Cross-section and length of partial H-plane filter with periodic structure are considerably reduced by 75% and 30%, respectively, as compared with conventional E-plane filter. In addition, spurious responses of the bandpass filter are improved. To design bandpass filter with periodic structure, we have analyzed a periodic structure of partial H-plane waveguide and derived equations of the periodic filter. Measured results are in good agreement with simulated results.

  • In this paper, a FFH-SS hybrid communication method using digital frequency synthesizer is proposed. This can simultaneously share the same frequency band with conventional band limited communication method without interference. In the experiment the selective hopping pattern is attained by some conbination of serial to parallel conversion of maximal code from pseudo random noise generater, and it is observed that the selective hopping band transition can be more easily achieved when the hop interval is nonuniform than it is uniform. Digital frequency synthesizer is now reported to have very poor spurious suppression ability below 50~60dB, the reason of this is observed from the experimental result, and the way of how to solve this problem is presneted.

  • In this paper, a microstrip dual mode band pass filter with doubly fed line is proposed. The proposed filter consists of a corner truncated patch with right crossed slots and doubly fed lines. In general, the resonator with the right crossed slots simultaneously has size reduction and spurious response suppression. In order to improve the rejection performance in out of its higher stop band, the dual mode resonator is excited by using doubly fed line. Details of the filter characteristics are described, and both simulated and measured results of the designed filter are presented.

  • In the RFID system using ISM-band, The tag mounted at the object has used the DC power by rectifying the RF signals of the small antenna for operating the micro-controller and memory. The performance of the tag would be reduced because of the second harmonics generated by the nonlinearity of the semiconductor and the spurious signal excited the high order mode of the antenna. This paper has realized the novel type low-pass filter with "the Stub-I type DGS slot structure" to improve the efficiency of the tag by suppressing the harmonics. The optimized frequency character at the pass-band/stop-band has obtained by tuning the stub width and slit width of I type slot. The measured result of the LPF has the cutoff frequency 3.25 GHz, the insertion loss about -0.29~-0.3 dB at pass-band 2.4 GHz~2.5 GHz, the return loss about -27.688~-33.665 dB at pass-band with a good performance, and the suppression character is about -19.367 dB at second harmonics frequency 4.9 GHz. This DGS LPF may be applied the various application as the RFID, WLAN to improve the efficiency of the system by suppressing the harmonics and spurious signals.
