The Spread of Black Pine Bast Scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae (Hemiptera: Margarodidae) in Korea (우리나라에서 솔껍질깍지벌레의 분포확산)

  • The black pine bast scale, $Masucoccus$ $thunbergianae$ (Hemiptera: Margarodidae), is a serious pest of the Japanese black pine, $Pinus$ $thunbergii$, in Korea. The distribution of the black pine bast scale was examined, looking overall at 686 towns (eup), townships (myeon) or neighborhoods (dong). There were Japanese black pine ($Pinus$ $thunbergii$) forests in 91 cities, counties (gun) and borough (gu), in seven provinces and three metropolitan cities during 2010. Black pine bast scale were found in 64.8% of cities or counties or borough (59) in 7 provinces and 3 metropolitan cities, and were distributed in all South Costal regions, Pohang in East Costal region and Boryeong in West Costal region. Chungcheongbukdo, Daejeon and Jeju did not have black pine bast scale. All the gu regions in Busan had black pine bast scale, of which the area with the highest prevalence was Haenam in Jeollanamdo (1.713 crawlers/0.785 $cm^2$). Songji-myeon had the highest occurrence rate (6.36 crawlers/0.785 $cm^2$) from the towns, township and dong. The density of black pine bast scale in twigs was highly correlated with percentage of the sample with scale (Correlation coefficacy=0.89).

Adaptive Decision Feedback Equalizer using the hierarchical Feedback filter and Soft decision device (계층적 궤환 필터 구조와 연판정 장치를 갖는 적응형 결정 궤환 등화기)

  • Wireless transmission system using the multipath channel is affected ISI due to the delay spread. So we use a decision feedback equalizer which consist of decision part and feedback filter for remove the ISI effectively. In this paper, we propose a improved adaptive decision feedback equalizer to mitigate ISI effectively. The proposed adaptive decision feedback equalizer is construct by using soft decision device and hierarchical feedback filter based on MMSE sub-optimal equalizer using the LMS algorithm. Soft decision device mitigate the error propagation in feedback filter by incorrectly detected decision symbol and feedback filter which is divided two step independently mitigate the ISI by using a adaptive algorithm. As a result this structure shows better performance than conventional decision feedback equalizer by mitigating the error propagation in filter cause incorrectly detecting symbol. and we get the MSE more rapidly by using larger step-size due to reduce the number of feedback filter tap. In computer simulation, we compare the bit error rate performance of proposed decision feedback equalizer with conventional one on the S-V channel model for UWB system.

Quality Characteristics of Cookies added with Dropwort Powder (미나리 분말을 첨가한 쿠키의 품질특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality characteristics of cookies prepared with dropwort powder(0, 2, 4, 6, and 8%) for flour. The bulk density of cookie dough of groups with dropwort powder shows significantly differences when compared to the control group. The pH of cookie dough and cookies were decreased by addition of dropwort powder. The moisture content of the groups with dropwort powder was higher than that of the control group. The weight and width of the groups with dropwort powder was lower than those of the control group. The spread ratio of the groups with dropwort powder was lower but the loss rate of cookies was higher than those of the control group. In color, the L, a, and b value was decreased significantly by addition of dropwort powder. The hardness of the groups with 2% and 4% dropwort powder was higher than that of the control group. DPPH radical scavenging activity of the control group was 20.62%, whereas the groups with dropwort powder ranged from 32.11~65.10%. Sensory evaluation scores in terms of appearance, flavor, taste, texture, and overall preference of groups with 2% and 4% of dropwort powder did not show any significantly differences when compared to the control group. Based on the above results, using less than 4% of the dropwort powder would be proper to make cookies.

Trend analysis of new health technology in dentistry (치의학 분야의 신의료기술 동향 분석)

  • Objectives : Currently, it is being reported that new health technology (HT) is introduced and spread throughout Korea at a very fast rate. However, the current status of new HT related to dentistry has not been known or studied. Therefore, this study aims to understand the present state and awareness on dentistry-related domestic new HT via surveys and research, and thus apply this as a reference to construct an effective new HT-related system in the field of dentistry. Methods : The assessment status of New Health Technology Assessment (nHTA) committee was searched on the website for any updates on new HT5). The cases were searched in the range between Jan 1 2012 and Jul 31 2016 by submission date and were analyzed by year, division of technology, progress and major operating practitioner. Among those, technologies utilized by dentists were additionally analyzed. The survey result was obtained by combining responses of 25 participants from the workshop for new HT application and 11 members of Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (KAOMS). The workshop was co-hosted by KAOMS and Clinical Translational Research Center for Dental Science (CTRC) under Seoul National University Dental Hospital (SNUDH). Results : Most of the respondents to the survey have heard of new health technology but were unaware of the application procedure. 'Safety and effectiveness' was selected the most for things to consider when introducing new HT, followed by 'scientific evidence of the technology.' For new dental HT status, submissions between 2012 and Jul 31 2016 were analyzed by major operating practitioner, including cases where there are multiple practitioners. Yet, only 19 cases (17 %) of dentists were reported. Among 385 cases approved by nHTA, only 2 cases included dentists. Conclusions : Active publicity by the government on new HT and its application procedure, and continued interest and research in the dental and medical community is likely to be required for the development of dentistry.

An Empirical Study on the Impact of Korea Wave on the number of Foreign Tourists to Korea by age (한류가 연령별 외국인 관광객 방한에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구)

  • The Korea Wave has been spread out all over the world since 1990s. Therefore, it can be seen that the Korea wave phenomenon is one of determinants of international tourism demand for Korea in addition to the macro factors such as population, GDP per capita, exchange rate, distance, etc. Existing studies have focused on analyzing the impacts of the Korea wave on the international tourism demand for Korea by using the aggregated data. However, the impacts of the Korea wave inducing tourism vary in different age groups. In this study, we conduct empirical analysis in order to explore how different the effects of Korea wave on the demand of foreign tourists visiting to Korea in different age groups are. The estimation results show that the Korea Wave influences most on international tourism demand for Korea in the age group of the under-20s. Noticeable is that the estimated effects of the Korea Wave on international tourism demand for Korea in the age group of the over-50s are higher than those in the 30s and 40s. This indicates that the parent generations visit Korea together with their young children who are most affected by the Korea Wave. Through this study, it is necessary to develop strategies for tourism marketing linked to children and parents, and to develop tourism products to increase the number of foreign visitors to Korea in the 30s and 40s.

Effects of young persimmon fruit powder on rice cookie quality (어린 감 과실 분말 첨가가 쌀쿠키의 품질특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to develop rice cookies added with young persimmon fruits. Effects of varying amounts (0-12%) of the fruit powder from a young astringent persimmon fruit (picked at July) on the quality characteristics of rice cookies were studied. Ingredients [rice (Oryza sativa subsp. japonica 'Ilpum') flours, persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb. 'Cheongdobansi') powder, sugar, butter, salt, baking powder, egg] were mixed, cut (thickness 3 mm, diameter 35 mm), baked at $170-180^{\circ}C$ for 9 min, cooled, and packaged in polyethylene/nylon bags. The loss rate and spread factor after baking of cookies increased and then decreased with an increase in the amount of fruit powder added. The moisture content and color values ($L^*$ and $a^*$) of cookies decreased with an increase in the amount of the persimmon powder added. Phenolic compounds content and DPPH radicals scavenging activity increased with an increase in persimmon powder content; in particular, the DPPH activity of the cookies sharply increased after the addition of 3% persimmon powder. These results suggest that the addition of the young persimmon fruit powder affected the quality characteristics of rice cookies and this fruit powder (approximately 3%) can be utilized as an additive during rice cookie processing.

  • With the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy has stagnated and our daily lives have changed. The rural economy is also experiencing damage, such as an average of 65% or more decrease in the number of visitors to rural experience resort villages due to the spread of COVID-19. In order to minimize the damage arising from the prolonged coronavirus, a hospitality system in response to changes in rural tourism behavior and consumer demand is needed to revitalize rural areas and maintain continuous economic independence. Therefore, this study attempted to find ways to utilize landscape resources such as education, culture, history, and ecology in order to complement the existing experience programs in connection with local resources and local environment. Wibong Village, which is the subject of the study, attempted to revitalize the village using the resources through the "Creative village creation" project in 2015. Due to poor management of historical resources, difficulty in operating experience programs, and response to changes in the natural environment, the rate of implementation of the project plan was very low. Currently, the demand for experience is also decreasing due to the COVID-19 effect, so it was judged that it was necessary to develop an experience village program suitable for the needs of experienced visitors by discovering additional local resources for the continuous operation of the experience village. In order to solve the problem of the use of landscape resources and the spatial composition of the study site, additional investigations of local resources were made, and an experience program course that could be operated by theme was proposed by configuring a space suitable for the use of landscape resources. By dividing the additionally investigated landscape resources into history, ecology, and region, an experiential course was created to separate the traffic lines, and the space composition for large-scale experienced visitors that had been previously operated was constructed in a form suitable for the post-corona era. In addition, at least two experiential tour courses that can be operated by period were proposed to maintain economic effects. Starting with this study, if further research on the creation and spatial composition of a rural experience village centered on the connection with the region, it will be used as research results that can be referenced in projects such as village creation, rural space planning, and living area analysis. It is expected that it will be able to effectively cope with the construction of a rural area suitable for the post-corona era, where demand is expected to increase in the future.

A Study on the Systematic Improvement of Civil Aviation Safety (민간항공 안전의 체계적 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Korea's economic development plans instituted in the 1970's, affected by the growth centered policy and rapid industrialization, have prevailed without having aviation safety management system, along with the safety of the other various means of transportation, settled in its place, and subsequently, the aviation accidents occurred until the beginning of year 2000 have incurred an enormous social expense, not to say of a massive loss of human lives. Especially, with regard to the causal factors of accidents, most of recent accidents have been associated with human factor of airmen, thus, only if this can be detected in advance and prevented, the aircraft accident rate will be reduced by a large margin. Therefore, in order to develope improvement methods on the safety system of civil aviation, in this study, safety management system has been divided into three stages: an advance preventive system, a handling system at an accident's occurrence and a post accident handling system, and thereby improvement methods on aviation safety have been suggested for each stage. The threatening factors agatinst aviation safety have been found to be the absence of management standards and regulations, the indifference to or the lack of the law abiding apirit as major factors, and in order to improve on which, it is required that the settlement of the institutional safety management system should precede, and that the Government and the aviation industry should also make a continuous effort to identify the threatening factors against aviation safety, and to provide incentives for the law abiding spirit and the attitude of giving top priority to safety to spread among all the employees.

Evaluation of Biological Critical Control Points Using Escherichia coli Genotyping (Escherichia coli Genotype을 이용한 생물학적 Critical Control Point의 적합성 평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of biological critical control points using the genetic profile of Escherichia coli isolates from pork cutting plants. Samples were collected from carcasses, equipment (knife, table, glove, transport belt, boning and skinning machine), the environment (wall and floor), and meat cuts during the cutting process from two plants. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) was used to characterize the E. coli isolates. An identical genotype was detected from the carcasses, equipment, environment, and final meat cuts, and showed that the incoming carcasses, which were contaminated during transportation from slaughterhouses, were a major source of E. coli that was spread throughout processing. Also, consistent cross-contamination due to improper cleaning and disinfection procedures was another possibility. As a result, incoming carcasses and cleaning procedures should be considered critical control points in pork cutting plants, since a heating step is not used to inactivate microorganisms. Furthermore, the high rate (59.6%) of E. coli isolation indicates E. coli can be a good indicator in livestock processing plants even though it has genetic diversity.

A study on Implementation Factors of Infrastructure Expansion Policy in Long-term Care Service - Focus on Long-term care facility - (장기요양보장 인프라 확대정책의 집행요인에 관한 연구 - 노인요양시설을 중심으로 -)

  • As of June 2008, the government's expansion policy for the long-term care service infrastructure has achieved an outstanding 96.4% occupancy rate of facilities across the country. Despite such achievement, practical issues including the physical lack of facilities, disproportional regional spread and decline in government accountability have raised concerns about the effectiveness of the policy's implementation. This study was aimed at defining the implementation procedure of expansion policy for long-term care service infrastructure, analyzing variables that affect it, examining the problems revealed in implementation procedure, and suggesting improved plan on that policy. Research methods were to review literatures on infrastructure expansion policy, to conduct case studies on K province, C city and 4(2 corporations and 2 privately owned) facilities in C city for studying practical implementation procedure on a local government level, and to use Alexander(1985)'s framework for analyzing variables of policy implementation. As a result of this study, policy variables including the clarity and adequacy of policy goal, nature of service providers, task and responsibility between government authorities, and implementation variables such as propensity toward budget allocation, financial restraint, swift utilization of budgets and the streamlining of involved procedures and inter-agency relations stood out as the main factors affecting policy implementation. In adddition, this study suggested several improvement measures such as accounting facilities need based on real local demand and supporting to private participation and so on.
