The surface energy control capability of electrohydrodynamic force provides electrospraying with various potential advantages such as simple particle size control, mono-dispersity, high recovery, and mild processing conditions. Herein, the one step nano-encapsulation of protein drugs using electrospraying was developed. The major processing parameters such as the conductivity of spraying liquids, flow rate, the distance between electric potentials, etc were examined to obtain the maximum efficiency. The recovery of particles was found relatively high as could be conjectured based on the principle of electrospraying. When organic solvents were employed, the processing windows of electrospraying were relatively narrow than water systems. Efficient nano-encapsulation of BSA with polymers was conveniently achieved using electrospraying at above 12 kV.
For the development of more effective insecticides for aphids, including the cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, control released insecticides were developed and tested as new type of formulation for the cotton aphid. Etofenprox is a target-of-control-released formulation that is toxic to insects with piercing-sucking type mouths including aphids and hoppers. The insecticidal effect of etofenprox is distinguished among others; however, continuance period of the effect of insecticide is shorter than other insecticides. In addition, the control effect of control released etofenprox on the cotton aphid was examined. The results show that control released etofenprox induced no control effects to the cotton aphid within 5 days of treatment. The cotton aphid's population was increased, and their reproduction rate was also high. However, control effect was shown to have very low levels 7 days after treatment, and it increased to higher effect. It is supposed that it is possible to control the cotton aphid using the type of control released etofenprox with a kitosan carrier. It is necessary to develop a more effective carrier type to release more of the insecticidal ingredient on the leaf after spraying.

In this paper, nanocrystallization of CuNiTiZr bulk metallic glass (BMG) subjecting to a kinetic spraying, dependent on impact velocity, was investigated by numerical and experimental approaches. The crystallization fraction and nucleation activation energy of initial feedstock and as-deposited coating were estimated by DSC and Kissinger method, respectively. The results of numerical modeling and experiment showed that the crystalline fraction and nucleation activation energy in BMG coatings were depended on kinetic energy of incident particle. Upon impact, the conversion of particle kinetic energy leads to not only decreasing free energy barrier but also increasing the driving force for an amorphous to crystalline phase transformation. The nanocrystallization of BMGs is associated with the strain energy delivered by a plastic deformation with a high strain rate.
Titanium alloy has been widely used in the aerospace industry because of its high strength and good corrosion resistance. During cutting, the low thermal conductivity and high chemical reactivity of titanium generate a high cutting temperature and accelerates tool wear. To improve cutting tool life, cryogenic machining by using a liquid nitrogen (LN2) jet is suggested. In cryogenic jet cooling, evaporation of LN2 in the tank and transfer tube could cause pressure fluctuation and change the cooling rate. In this work, cooling uniformity is investigated in terms of liquid nitrogen jet pressure in cryogenic jet cooling during titanium alloy turning. Fluctuation of jet spraying pressure causes tool temperature to fluctuate. It is possible to suppress the fluctuation of the jet pressure and improve cooling by using a phase separator. Measuring tool temperature shows that consistent LN2 jet pressure improves cryogenic cooling uniformity.
In this study, we used the ESD method to prepare the protein microarrays for observation the stem cell responses to pattern size, space and shapes. The ESD method allows a reduction in spot size, high efficiency of substance transfer, and high rate in fabrication as a result of ability to simultaneously deposit thousands of identical spots. Typical electro spraying conditions for the deposition of proteins were a voltage of $3{\sim}5keV$ and the humidity under 30%. The patterns of masks have a variety of shapes, spaces, and hole sizes from 10 um to $300{\mu}m$. Three kinds of proteins(collagen, fibronectin, and vitronectin dissolved in PBS) are deposited in a dry state, preserving the functional activity of proteins. Stem cells were cultured on each protein patterned sample at $37^{\circ}C$ for 1day.
The overall objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of spraying sulfuric acid solution, and adding corn meal or molasses to reed canarygrass silage on digestibility of dry matter (DM) and fibrous components in ruminant. DM content of molasses or corn meal treated silages were higher than control. Whereas, sulfuric acid treated silage showed lower DM content compared with untreated control. Acid detergent fiber content was similar among treatments, but neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and hemicellulose concentration were higher in treated silages than those of control. Organic acids content were also increased in treated silages. In contrast, silage pH were lower in treated silages. Treated silages increased both rate and extent of DM and NDF in situ digestibility compared to control at all incubation times. Especially, 7 % molasses and 0.4 % sulfuric acid treated silages increased DM and NDF digestibility significantly after 12 hours of incubation compared with control. In nitro DM and NDF digestibility showed similar trend to in situ incubation. Also treated silages(mo1asses or sulfuric acid treated) incubated in situ had higher particle-associated carboxymethylcellulase activity throughout the incubation except 72 hours.
This study was carried out from January 1998 to December 1999 to report the revegetation of cutting-rock slopes and a design standard in the highway cut-slopes. The field data was collected from the 67 sites cutting-rock slopes of highways, local roads, and field test. As the result of analyze, cutting-rock slopes revegetation measures were 16 types. There were Vine planting(3 types), Hydroseeding measures with seed-fertilizer-soil materials(5 types), Vegetaion-base spraying measures(5 types), and Stability measures(3 types). The factors affecting the plant coverage rates of cutting-rock slopes were the slope gradient, the slope width and direction. The plant coverage rate decreases in the condition of steep slope and long slope width and length(height). In addition, the plant coverage rates of the westward and southward were lower than that of the northward and eastward. Most dominant species were Zoysia japonica, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya, Lespedeza cuneata, Rubus crataegifolius, Miscanthus sinensis, Arrundinella hirta, Themeda triandra, and Oenothera odorata. Exotic species were Eragrostis curvula(Weeping lovegrass), Dactylis glomerata Orchardgrass), Lolium perenne(Perennial ryegrass), and Festuca arundinacea(Tall fescue). It is recommended to adjust the proposed factor as environment, topsoil, classification of rock, field condition and characteristic related with revegetation measures on slopes for the presentation of revegetation standard.
The use of ozone gained acceptance in the production of ultrapure water because of its powerful oxidizing ability. Ozone is currently used to deactivate microorganisms and remove organic contaminants. However, interest also exists in using radical species, which arc stronger oxidants than ozone, in such processes. One means of producing radical species is by corona discharge. This work investigates the use of a novel pulseless corona-discharge system for the removal of organic substances in ultrapure water production. The method combines corona discharge with electrohydrodynamic spraying of oxygen, forming microbubbles. Experimental results show that pulseless corona discharge effectively removes organics, such as phenol and methylene blue, in deionized water. The corona-discharge method is demonstrated to be comparable to the direct use of ozone at a high-applied voltage. The results also show that a minimum applied voltage exists for operation of the corona-discharge method. In this work, the minimum applied voltage is approximately 4.5 kV. The kinetic rate or phenol degradation in the reactor is modeled. Modeling results show that the dominant species of the pulseless corona-discharge reactor are hydroxyl radical and aqueous electron. Several radical species produced in the pulseless corona-discharge process are identified experimentally. The. major species are hydroxyl radical, atomic hydrogen species, and ozone.
Commercial flake graphite cast iron substrate was coated with titanium powder by low pressure plasma spraying and was irradiated with a $CO_2$ laser to produce the wear resistant composite layer. From the experimental results of this study, it was possible to composite TiC particles on the surface layer by direct reaction between carbon existed in the cast iron matrix and titanium with thermal sprayed coating by remelting and alloying them using laser irradiation. The cooling rate of laser remelted cast iron substrate without titanium coating was about $1{\times}10^4$ K/s to $1{\times}10^5$ K/s in the order under the condition used in this study. The microstructure of alloyed layer consisted of three zones, that is, TiC particule crystallized zone (MHV $400{\sim}500$), the mixed zone of TiC particule+ledebulite (MHV $650{\sim}900$) and the ledebulite zone (MHV $500{\sim}700$). TiC particules were crystallized as a typical dendritic morphology. The secondary TiC dendrite arms were grown to the polygonized shape and were necking. And then the separated arms became cubic crystal of TiC at the slowly solidified zone. But in the rapidly solidified zone of fusion boundry, the fine granular TiC particules were grouped like grape.
