Comparison of Physical Therapy Field Preferences of Students and Physical Therapists

  • PURPOSE: This study compared the preferences of students majoring in physical therapy (PT) and those of physical therapists regarding various PT fields. METHODS: Two hundred and sixty-two participants (students: 161, physical therapists: 101) were recruited, and their preferences for seven fields of the PT (musculoskeletal system, nervous system, children and adolescents, cardiopulmonary system, sports, and pelvic and women's health) were surveyed using a Likert five-point scale. An independent t-test was conducted to compare the preference scores of each field between the PT student and physical therapist groups. RESULTS: PT for the musculoskeletal system was the most preferred by PT students and physical therapists. In contrast, PT for children and adolescents had the lowest preference. A comparison of the preferences of various PT fields in the two groups revealed PT students to have a significantly higher preference for PT on the musculoskeletal system, children and adolescents, and the nervous system compared with the physical therapists. CONCLUSION: These results could provide the basic information for various PT fields.

A Study of Design Preference and Purchase Behavior by Segmentation of Fashion images on Sportive style (스포티브 스타일의 패션 이미지 세분화에 따른 선호도 및 구매행동 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the fashion images on sportive style, to find out the difference between the image of sportive style which consumers prefer and the image of sportive style which they want to show and, finally, to analyze their purchase behavior. This research is done with survey method. The subjects of the survey are 835 females in their twenties or their thirties in Pusan area. The data are analyzed with factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, $X^2$-test, and frequency analysis. The results of this study are as follows: first, sportive style is classified into Sexy, Romantic, Active and Modem image. Second, the results of analysis on consumers' preferring image and their wanting-to-show image to the above-mentioned image classification are as follows: firstly, the subjects' most preferring image and the image which they most want to show is Modem in1age. The second is Sexy image. But the subjects preferred having Modem image. Secondly, consumers' Individuality and apparel's Function are the important reasons to choose the sportive style. Thirdly, Modem image is the most preferred in the images of street wear. Sexy image and Active image are the preferred in the images of sports wear. Third, It is a vivid tone and a dark tone that is the color tone of sportive wear which consumers prefer. They prefer a logo- patterned sports wear, too. The consumers obtain most information on sports wear from sports wear stores. Silhouette is the most decisive design element in consumers' purchasing. The sports wear brands which the subjects prefer are Adidas and Nike.

  • The prevalence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is continuously increased due to sports activities and traffic accident. Simultaneously ACL reconstruction operations are on the increase. Several kinds of autografts and allografts are used in ACL reconstruction. Although ACL reconstruction using an autogenous bone-patellar tendon-bone graft is the good standard, it might have potential morbidity, anterior knee pain and minimal extension loss. To minimize the complications and disadvantages on each graft and to select appropriate graft for each patient, it is necessary to understand the unique characteristics of each graft for biomechanical aspect, morbidity and disadvantage. Selecting the appropriate graft depends on numerous factors including surgeon's preference and experience, patient's activity level and age, extent of ligament injury, tissue availability, and patient's selection for graft .

The Effect of Trainer's Communication Style on Rehabilitation Ability and Rehabilitation Satisfaction of Elite Athletes

  • The purpose of this study was to objectively explore and discuss the effect of trainer's communication style on rehabilitation ability and rehabilitation satisfaction of elite athletes. we observed the relationship between rehabilitation trainers and injured athletes and found that communication between them plays an important role. In this study, we criticized that most of the studies related to rehabilitation were conducted from the point of view of natural science. The results of this study emphasized that rehabilitation-related research should broadly accept social science positions such as business administration. The main research findings are as follows. As a result of analyzing the relationship between trainer's communication style and rehabilitation ability, first, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects emotional factors of injured players. Second, the trainer's cooperative and controlled communication style affects the cognitive factors of injured players. Third, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects the behavioral factors of injured players. Fourth, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects the rehabilitation satisfaction of injured players. Based on these results, this study was conducted to validate the necessity of discussing the trainer's communication style preference according to the individual background such as the injured player's gender, personality, and injury level, and the classification and composition of communication styles that match Korean culture and sentiment. As suggestions for follow-up research, active sharing of problems with adjacent disciplines such as sports sociology, sports education, and sports marketing, and parallel qualitative research centered on individual cases were suggested

  • This study is for a search for methods of development of marine leisure sports. As worldwide trend of marine leisure sports is developing rapidly and people more concern about their quality of life and leisure in Korea, the ear of marine leisure sports should be coming in Korea soon. This study is for a search for methods of development though the SWOT analysis. The results of the study are as below. First, the Strength of enlargement of the base in Korea are elation of concern of government and local governments, expanding local event of marine leisure sports with existing facilities and various programs. Second, the weakness of enlargement of the base in Korea are lack of awareness of marine leisure sports, frequent accident occurrence and lack of experts of marine leisure sports. Third, the Opportunity of enlargement of the base in Korea are more budget due to elation of concern of government and local governments and more preference of people in Korea. Fourth, the Threaten of enlargement of the base in Korea are low efficiency of high cost investment construction from government and local governments, huge fee of using facilities due to high cost investment construction and requiring treatment improvement of instructors of leisure sports facilities.

Relationship between Fashion Style and Music, Recreation, Lifestyle and Value of Male College Students (남자 대학생의 착용 패션스타일과 음악·여가·라이프스타일·가치관과의 관계)

  • The main objectives of this study were to empirically examine the relationship between the preference of fashion styles of male college students and their individual taste in other areas including music styles and recreation types. Life style and values were also examined for their relationship with the fashion style preferences. Survey questionnaires were distributed to male college students in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-do during May and June of 2011, and a total of 256 responses were used in the final analysis. The results showed that there were three segments according to the fashion styles - 'modern-dandy', 'resistance style', 'no-individuality' groups - and there were significant differences between groups in terms of their preferred music styles and choice of recreational activities. Modern-dandy group preferred R&B, dance music and ballad, while resistance style group preferred hiphop, dance and reggae music. No-individuality group did not show any preference for a particular type of music. Both modern-dandy and resistance style groups liked sports, while resistance style group showed the lowest preference for hobby and culture. There were also significant differences in lifestyles and values according to the fashion styles of the three groups.

  • The change from people's work-centered values to their leisure-centered values leads into the change in their life styles. In the circumstance, people's participation into sports activities seems to be an important means to improve their quality of life. Along with the change of the times, more people take part in water leisure sports including kayak. As a result, people's needs for various designs of water leisure goods are on the rise. In this sense, it is necessary to come up with strategies to actively respond to such a change. In this paper, we proposed a user decision-making support system for designing kayaks for leisure. Based on the previous studies and literatures and a questionnaire survey with consumers, it chose the sensitivity related to design. By conducting factor analysis and evaluation, it drew sensitivity and proposed kayak design layouts in the aspect of customer sensitivity preference. It is expected that the result of this study will be used not only for kayak design, but as a design guide for the equipment of water leisure sports, and will be applied for user-friendly design.

A Proposal for Standardization of Label Design on the Sports apparel -based on the visual information design- (스포츠 의류 라벨의 표준화 디자인 제안 -시각 정보디자인을 중심으로-)

  • This study set the standard for label standardization of foreign sports apparel. Based on the theory of labels, the labels were scanned around the internal T-shirt of sports apparel brands. Based on the plan, 32 young men and women surveyed 32 tentative labels. As a result, The survey revealed that the respondents preferred the information of size, fit, washing symbol mark, and function. Based on these results, the complementary labels were designed for balance, simplicity, coherency, cognitive, and harmonization. The study interviewed 12 men and women in their 20s and 30s. As a result, the subjects indicated that they selected cognitive preference for labels because of the maximum, minimum spacing, and emphasis on information representative.

A Study on the Design Development of Lady′s Down Wear

  • The rapid development of science technology during the 20th century has greatly lowered the hours for labour, thus giving members of society extra time for leisure. With the increasement of leisure activities, sports casual wear has become one of the foremost leading items in the fashion industry, and among such sports casual, down wear has become the F/W season's most popular item. Because it generates high profits, many recognize it as a very important factor in lady's wear. Since the 1990's, down wear was widely applied to various sections of lady's, men's, and children's wear, and it has ceased to be limited to sports casual only. The purpose of this study was to fully understand the characteristics of down, and to develop crossover garments design desired not only in the F/W season but also the S/S season. It has been taken into consideration that many restrictions in sewing technique and material selection in manufacturing down as a fashion product exist when choosing a means of manufacture. That was why this study focused on the history and characteristics of down while analysing the works of domestic and foreign designers to concretely applicate them in fashion products. This study has divided the resulting down wear products according to consumer preference: vest, jacket, coat, one-piece, and skirt to applicate design manufacture of lady's wear in general, while designing and making artistically expressed down wear. There were 48 works developed as a result of this study, of which 41 were ready-to-wear, and the remaining 7 works were creative art wear.

Analysis on the Differences of the Occupation Values Towards the Individual Characteristics of the Students Majoring in Sports at Junior Colleges (전문대학 체육전공자의 개인특성에 따른 직업가치관 차이 분석)

  • This research target students who are majoring in sports at junior colleges and it purpose lies in analyzing the differences in the perspectives towards sports related occupations following the individual characteristics of the students. First, when it comes to the difference of the interest in an organization, sophomore shows more difference than freshman and students who are more than 23 years old shows more difference than students who are 21 or 22 years old. Second, when it comes to the difference in economic incomes, sophomore shows more difference than freshman and students who are more than 23 years old shows more difference than students who are 19 or 20 years old. Third, when it comes to the difference in societal status, sophomore shows more difference than freshman. Fourth, when it comes to the difference in the sense of pride towards one's occupation, male students shows more difference than female students, freshman shows more difference than sophomore and students who are more than 23 years old shows more difference than students who are 21 or 22 years old and 19 or 20 years old. Fifth, when it comes to the difference in preference, male students shows more difference than female students. Sixth, when it comes to the rise of social position, there is no difference in sex, school year or age.
