  • Safety in sports is important because if an athlete has an accident, he may not be able to lead an everyday life for the rest of his life. The safety of sports facilities is very effective in creating people's sports activities, with the benefits of staying away from physical injury, enjoying sports, and mental peace. Everyone has the right to participate in sports and recreation and to ensure that they want a safe environment. This study prepares a very good Nickel-Cobalt -Silicon carbide (Ni/Co-SiC) nanocomposite with convenient geometry on the leg press machine rod, employing the pulse electrodeposition technique to reduce the rod's wear and increase the durability of sports equipment and control sports damages. The results showed that the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite formed at 2 A/dm2 shows extraordinary microhardness. The wear speed for the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite created at 4 A/dm2 was 15 mg/min, showing superior wear resistance. Therefore, the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite can reduce sports equipment's wear and decrease sports injuries. Ni-Co/SiC nanocomposite layers with various scopes of silicon carbide nanoparticles via electrodeposition in a Ni-Co plating bath, including SiC nanoparticles to be co-deposited. The form and dimensions of Silicon carbide nanoparticles are watched and selected using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).

  • Background: Physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality and is associated with increased breast cancer diagnosis and recurrence. Purpose: To examine the association between adult lifetime physical activity and breast cancer risk in a case-control analysis. Materials and Methods: This study involved 122 cases of breast cancer and 121 controls in the state of Kelantan in Malaysia. A comprehensive measure of lifetime physical activity was used to assess occupational, household, and recreational/sports activity. For every type of activity, a metabolic equivalent (MET) score was assigned using the compendium of physical activities. MET-hours/week per year for all types of activities at different levels of intensities for different age groups were calculated. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate odds ratios between various measures of physical activity and breast cancer risk. Conclusions: The mean MET-hours/week per year for all activities were 120.0 and 132.9 of MET-hours/week per year for cases and controls respectively. Household activities accounted for about 70% of the total lifetime physical activities. Only about 2.5% of the total lifetime physical activities were in the form of recreational/sports. This study found no association between lifetime occupational and recreational/sports physical activities with breast cancer risk among Kelantanese women. However, higher intensity lifetime household activities seemed to significantly reduce risk of breast cancer.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the effects of middle school students' participation in after-school sports on psychological well-being. A survey was conducted on 280 students in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades attending two middle schools in Gongju-si, Chungnam, for one month from September 8 to October 17, 2019. The scale developed by Ryff (1995) was used to measure psychological stability. Subfactors including self-acceptance (6 questions), positive interpersonal relationships (5 questions), autonomy (6 questions), environmental control (5 questions), purpose of life (5 questions), and personal growth (5 questions) comprised a total of 32 questions measured on the Likert 5-point scale. The internal fit score (Cronbach's alpha) was .76-.83, with 146 students (52.1%) participating in after-school sports activities. The effect was high in the participant group. All variables, including the six subfactors, were verified statistically. These findings are consistent with the studies of Kang Myung-hwa (2011) and Kim Pan-su (2012), which reported that the sports activities of middle school students directly affect the development of emotions. This study verified the need to strengthen after-school sports activities and to engage problem children. After-school sports activities should be reviewed in the context of social issues that are becoming increasingly serious.

  • A rash guard, also known as rash vest or rashie, is functional sportswear that protects the wearer's skin from various dangers during outdoor sports activities. It is durable and comfortable since it is designed considering muscle movement. In modern society, more and more people enjoy leisure activities due to an increase in income level and increased leisure hours. Water leisure activities are increasingly enjoyed in the summer. As the way people think of leisure evolves, people are more inclined toward dynamic leisure sports rather than static facility tourism. Therefore, more research on rash guards is required. By identifying and analyzing the design preferences and purchase behaviors of young adults on rash guards, this study aims to provide basic data on the actual sportswear behaviors concerning those who are most active in water sports, people in their 20s and 30s. Furthermore, the study aims to contribute to a healthy exercise lifestyle for women who enjoy water sports and the growth of the water sportswear market. In the study, a survey was conducted using a questionnaire to investigate the wearing behaviors and purchase preferences as well as the wearing satisfaction on rash guards. For the study, 200 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and collected to be used as analysis data. The questionnaire consisted of 36 questions, 6 about demographic characteristics, 11 about purchase preferences, and 19 about wearing satisfaction. The collected data was analyzed using the statistical program SPSS 8.0. The study results can be used as basic data to investigate the design preferences and wearing behaviors of rash guards of women in their 20s and 30s. The results found numerous complaints on comfortableness and durability, which suggests more concern and improvements are necessary in those areas when designing patterns for rash guards.

  • This study explores how unmarried workers use their leisure time according to the 2009 Korean Time Use Survey. The purposes of this study are: 1) to investigate leisure time as it relates to leisure participation rates and leisure participation time and 2) to analyze the effect of socio-demographic variables on leisure time and leisure participation by unmarried workers. The following is a summary of the major findings. First, leisure participation differed with variations in leisure activities. Unmarried workers participated in media contact, human relations activities, and hobby activities more than other activities. Participation in learning activities was higher on weekdays than on Sunday. Men participated in sports and outdoor activities more than women on Sundays. The participation rate of media contact was the highest, while the participation rate of volunteer activities was the lowest. Second, influencing factors on leisure time included gender, age, monthly income, and gender role attitudes when work time was controlled. For example, unmarried workers with egalitarian attitudes spent less leisure time. Third, gender was the strongest determinant of leisure participation. The probability of women's leisure participation was higher than men except in regards to sports and outdoor activities, and hobby activities.
