  • In this paper, a novel split ring resonator is proposed for improvement of phase noise characteristics that is weak point of oscillator using planar type microstrip line resonator. Oscillator using proposed split ring resonator is designed, it has improved phase noise characteristics. At the fundamental frequency of 5.8GHz, 7.22dBm output power and -83.5 dBc@100kHz phase noise have been measured for oscillator with split ring resonator. The phase noise characteristics of oscillator is improved about 9.7dB compared to one using the general ${\lambda}/4$ microstrip resonator. Next, we designed voltage controlled oscillator using proposed split ring resonator with varactor diode. The VCO has 125MHz tuning range from 5.833GHz to 5.845GHz, and phase noise characteristic is -118~-115.5 dBc/Hz@100KHz. Due to its simple fabrication process and planar type, it is expected that the technique in this paper can be widely used for low phase noise oscillators for both MIC and MMIC applications.

  • This paper proposes a lane recognition CNN network using split-attention network as a backbone to extract feature. Split-attention is a method of assigning weight to each channel of a feature map in the CNN feature extraction process; it can reliably extract the features of an image during the rapidly changing driving environment of a vehicle. The proposed deep neural networks in this paper were trained and evaluated using the Tusimple data set. The change in performance according to the number of layers of the backbone network was compared and analyzed. A result comparable to the latest research was obtained with an accuracy of up to 96.26, and FN showed the best result. Therefore, even in the driving environment of an actual vehicle, stable lane recognition is possible without misrecognition using the model proposed in this study.

  • In order to investigate the strength recovery of fire-damaged concrete after post-fire curing, concrete specimens were heating at $2^{\circ}C/min$ or $5^{\circ}C/min$ to 400, 600 and $800^{\circ}C$, and these exposed specimens were soaked in the water for 24 hours and following by 29-day post-fire curing. The compressive strength and split tensile strength of the high-temperature-exposed specimens before and after post-fire curing were tested. The proportion of split aggregate in the split surfaces was analyzed to evaluate the mortar-aggregate interfacial strength. After the post-fire curing process, the split tensile strength of specimens exposed to all temperatures was recovered significantly, while the recovery of compressive strength was only obvious within the specimens exposed to $600^{\circ}C$. The tensile strength is more sensitive to the mortar-aggregate interfacial cracks, which caused that the split tensile strength decreased more after high-temperature exposure and recovery more after post-fire curing than the compressive strength. The mortar-aggregate interfacial strength also showed remarkable recovery after post-fire curing, and it contributed to the recovery of split tensile strength.

  • This paper overviews the design details of the cluster file system $\textrm{SANique}^{TM}$ on the SAN environment. $\textrm{SANique}^{TM}$ has the capability of transferring user data from shared SAN disk to client application without control of centralized file server. We, especially, focus on the characteristics and functions of recovery manager CRM of $\textrm{SANique}^{TM}$. The process component for failure detection and its overall procedure are described. We define the split-brain problem that cannot be easily detected in cluster file systems and also propose the recovery management method based on SAN disk in order to detect and solve the split-brain situation.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve the desalination performance by using split electrodes in the capacitive desalination process. The experiment was carried out by measuring the desalination efficiency of the NaCl aqueous solution according to the partitioning of the electrode at 20 mL/min flow rate, 1.2 V, 3 min adsorption conditions, and -1 V, 1 min desorption conditions. The desalination efficiency for the non-divided electrodes with a surface area of $146cm^2$ reached 40% while the divided electrode with a surface area of $133cm^2$ showed a desalination efficiency of 57%. The desalination efficiency of the same split electrode was 49% at 2 cm divided interval and 57% at 1cm divided interval. The desalination efficiency of the split electrode was higher than that of the normal CDI and narrower divided intervals increased the performance.

  • The power flow of an 8-speed automatic transmission was analyzed using a lever analogy for the manufacturing of planetary gears. From the analysis, we found that the engine power was split between the first and second double-pinion planetary gears (DPPG1 and DPPG2), and was then passed to the DPPG3 for the fourth speed. For the fifth speed, the engine power was split between the DPPG1 and DPPG3. For the speeds 6-8, the engine power was passed only to SPPG2, while the seventh speed contained the power circulation.

  • This paper describes the design process and the test of split wheel-mounted brake discs for high speed train with maximum speed 180km/h. A disc set composed 2 disc rings and individual rings are partitioned into 3 pieces with the same circumferential angle. Because partitioned disc rigs are exposed to severe centrifugal force as the vehicle speed increase, finite element analyses used in the design process to ensure mechanical safety. A prototype was verified its mechanical safety through the spin test up to 250km/h. 2 prototypes for 1 wheelset are mounted to Korean Tilting Train(TTX) and have been running over 15,000km

  • Moving object databases manage a large amount of past location data which are accumulated as the time goes. To retrieve fast the past location of moving objects, we need index structures which consider features of moving objects. The KDB-tree has a good performance in processing range queries. Although we use the KDB-tree as an index structure for moving object databases, there has an over-split problem in the spatial domain since the feature of moving object databases is to increase the time domain. Because the over-split problem reduces spatial regions in the MBR of nodes inverse proportion to the number of splits, there has a problem that the cost for processing spatial-temporal range queries is increased. In this paper, we propose the dynamic split strategy of the KDB-tree to process efficiently the spatial-temporal range queries. The dynamic split strategy uses the space priority splitting method for choosing the split domain, the recent time splitting policy for splitting a point page to maximize the space utilization, and the last division policy for splitting a region page. We compare the performance of proposed dynamic split strategy with the 3DR-tree, the MV3R-tree, and the KDB-tree. In our performance study for range queries, the number of node access in the MKDB-tree is average 30% less than compared index structures.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a plausible methodology based on experimental data how to set up darts and split lines on 3D parametric body dressed with tight-fit garment. The results were as following: Through the process of making convex hull, the concave parts were straightened to make a convex hull, especially in the center part of bust, under breast part and scapular part. To figure out the optimum positions of darts and split lines, the inflection points of curve ratio were searched along the horizontal polylines of waist and bust. This procedures produced reliable results with low deviation. Using Rapidform, CATIA and Unigraphics, six patches of bodice patterns were drawn and aligned. Paired t-test results showed the outline and area between 3D surface and 2D were not significantly different, meaning this method could be adaptable when flattening 3D surfaces. The amount of waist dart measured on the pattern showed that the highest portion was allocated on 2nd dart(back), followed by 1st dart(back), 1st dart(front), 2nd dart(front)/side dart, and center back dart. A series of findings suggested that curve ration inflection point could be used as a guide to set up darts and split line on 3D parametric model with low deviation.

  • Dual laser heat sources were used for polymer based material joining. An infrared camera and thermocouple DAQ system were used to correlate the temperature distribution to computer simulation. A 50 degree tilted pre-heating laser source was acting as a heating source to promote the temperature to minimize thermal shock by the following a welding heat source. Based on the experimental result, the skin depth was empirically estimated for computer simulation. The offsets of 3mm, 5mm and 10mm split by weld and preheat were effectively used to control the temperature distribution for the optimal laser joining process. The closer offset resulted in an excessive melting or burning caused by sudden temperature rising. The laser power was split by 50%, 75% and 100% of the weld power, and the best results were found at 50% of preheating. To accurately simulate the physical laser beam absorption and joining optical properties were experimentally measured for the computer FEM simulation. The simulation results showed close correlation between theoretical and experimental results. The developed dual laser process is expected to increase productivity and minimize the cost for the final products.
