The purpose of this study was to develop the color matching program with the excellent camouflage capacity in the near infrared range($\~$1100nm) including the visible light range for cotton fabrics. It was measured IR spectral reflectance in the range of $380\~1,100nm$ after dyed with vat dyes, and we made database for reflectance with various concentration on vat dyes which have a low reflectance value in the infrared range. The color matching algorithm that could be simulated in both the human visible light and the near infrared range was constructed by numerical analysis method using the database. In this study we also developed the dyeing conditions and dyeing process through the continuous-dyeing experiment with the vat dyes for cotton fabrics.
Aluminum nitride (AlN) powders were synthesized by using a mixture of an aluminum nitrate or sulfate salt and carbon (mole ratio of $Al^{3+}$ to carbon=L : 30). The AlN was obtained by calcining the mixture under a flow of nitrogen in the temperature range 1100-1$600^{\circ}C$ and then burning out the residual carbon. The process of conversion of the salt to AlN was monitored by XRD and $^{27}$ Al magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy. The salt decomposed to ${\gamma}$-alumina and then converted to AlN without phase transition from ${\gamma}$-to-$\alpha$-alumina. $^{27}$ Al MAS NMR spectroscopy shows that the formation of AlN commenced at 110$0^{\circ}C$. AlN powders obtained from the sulfate salt were superior to those from the nitrate salt in terms of homogeneity and crystallinity. A very small amount of AlN whiskers was obtained by calcining a mixture of an aluminum sulfate salt and carbon at 115$0^{\circ}C$ for 40 h, and the growth of the whiskers is well explained by the particle-to-particle self-assembly mechanism.

Skutterudite materials show PGEC (phonon glass electron crystal) characteristics which is an optimal strategy for designing high performance thermoelectric materials. Now two methods are in parallel to control thermal conductivity of skutterudites, a rattler-atoms doping method and a process for nanostructured bulk materials. Amount of rattler atoms in p-type skutterudite are depends on a Fe/Co ratio of matrix, and the optimal Fe/Co ratio has been reported about from 3:1 to 3.5:0.5 in $R(Fe,Co)_4Sb_{12}$ structure. In this paper, our discussion for rattler doping research was concentrated on double-rattler systems and DD-doped systems in p-type skutterudites. A melt spinning precess combined with high energy ball milling were suggested as a strategy for nanostructured bulk materials with PGEC (phonon glass electron crystal) characteristics in p-type skutterudites.
Porous PVDF hollow fiber membranes were prepared by hybrid process of TIPS(thermally induced phase separation) and stretching for membrane distillation. The tests were conducted to investigate that permeability of the membrane could be enhanced by reducing membrane wall thickness. During fiber spinning, dope discharge rate from nozzle was reduced and flow rate of bore fluid increased to make the wall thickness thinner. As dope discharge rate from nozzle was reduced and flow rate of bore fluid increased, the membrane wall thickness was reduced. As a result, air permeability, water permeability and vapor permeability of the membranes increased.
In the present study, the effect of yttrium addition on the microstructure and mechanical property of rapidly solidified AZ91 alloy by melt spinning process is estimated. As yttrium was added, the microstructure of RS ribbons and extrudates became finer than those of AZ91, and RE related phases $(Al_2RE)$ were formed. In the case of the addition of 3wt%Y, the microstructure of extrude showed the finest grain size. At room temperature, the AZ91 + 3wt%Y alloy showed the highest tensile strength, 352 MPA due to precipitation of ${\beta}(Mg_{17}Al_{12})$ phase and $Al_2RE$ phase. At the elevated temperature, the mechanical property of AZ91 + 3wt%Y alloy was higher than those of other Mg alloys. The reasons were that $Al_2Y$ compound was thermally stable and suppressed the grain growth. In contrast with $Al_2Y$ compounds, ${\beta}$ phase was thermally unstable and could not suppress the grain growth at the elevated temperature. Therefore, $Al_2Y$ phase contributed to improve the thermal stability of RS AZ91 alloy.
Gallium nitride (GaN) powders and nanowires were prepared by using tris(N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamato)gallium(III) (Ga(DmDTC)$_3$) and tris(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato)gallium(III) (Ga(DeDTC)$_3$) as new precursors. The GaN powders were obtained by reaction of the complexes with ammonia in the temperature ranging from 500 to 1100 ${^{\circ}C}$. The process of conversion of the complexes to GaN was monitored by their weight loss, XRD, and $^{71}$Ga magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy. Most likely the complexes decompose to $\gamma$ -Ga$_2$S$_3$ and then turn into GaN via amorphous gallium thionitrides (GaS$_x$N$_y$). The reactivity of Ga(DmDTC)$_3$ with ammonia was a little higher than that of Ga(DeDTC)$_3$. Room-temperature photoluminescence spectra of asprepared GaN powders exhibited the band-edge emission of GaN at 363 nm. GaN nanowires were obtained by nitridation of as-ground $\gamma$ -Ga$_2$S$_3$ powders to GaN powders, followed by sublimation without using templates or catalysts.
Highly alloyed high speed tool steels(ASP steels) were rapidly solidified by melt spinning process, and the microstructures of melt spun tool steel ribbons were examined by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscope. The microstructure of melt spun tool steel ribbon was found to be consisted of ${\delta}-ferrite$ cells surrounded by austenite and V-rich MC carbides. The size of ${\delta}-ferrite$ cells and intercellular MC carbides were about $0.4{\mu}m$ or less and 30nm or less, respectively. From the melt spun tool steel ribbons, only the MC type carbide phase was observed, instead of $M_2C$, $M_{23}C_6$ and $M_6C$ carbides which were generally observed in other rapidly solidified high speed steels. Such a change in type of carbide phase formed could be attributed to the increase in alloying content of vanadium and carbon. However, changes in microsturcture of melt spun tool steels with alloying content of cobalt, vanadium and carbon were not observed.
Among the four kinds of silk glands in the funnel-web spider Agelena limbata, the ampullate gland for dragline silk production is the most predominate one in both sexes, and is composed of three functional parts-excretory duct, storage ampulla and convoluted tail regions. Two pairs of major ampullate glands send secretory ductules to the anterior spinnerets, and another two pairs of minor ampullate glands supply the middle spinnerets. There are no apparent differences between the major and minor ampullate glands not only the external spigots but also their internal silk glands. However, the microstructure is very unique in this spider, because each gland has spherical shaped storage sac with twig-like branched tails. Nevertheless, the wall of the secretory region is similarly composed of a single layer of epithelial cells. The mature secretory silks in glandular epithelium are closely packed and accumulated as electron-opaque vesicles. Most of the secretory products which originated from the rough endoplasmic reticula(rER) are grown up by fusion with the surrounding small vesicles however, the Golgi complex does not seem to play an important role in this process of secretion.
Gallium nitride (GaN) powders were prepared by calcining a gallium(III) nitrate salt in flowing ammonia in the temperature ranging from 500 to 1050 $^{\circ}C$. The process of conversion of the salt to GaN was monitored by X-ray diffraction and $^{71}Ga$ MAS (magic-angle spinning) NMR spectroscopy. The salt decomposed to ${\gamma}-Ga_2O_3$ and then converted to GaN without ${\gamma}-{\beta}Ga_2O_3$ phase transition. It is most likely that the conversion of ${\gamma}-Ga_2O_3$ to GaN does not proceed through $Ga_2O$ but stepwise via amorphous gallium oxynitride ($GaO_xN_y$) as intermediates. The GaN nanowires and microcrystals were obtained by calcining the pellet containing a mixture of ${\gamma}-Ga_2O_3$ and carbon in flowing ammonia at 900 $^{\circ}C$ for 15 h. The growth of the nanowire might be explained by the vapor-solid (VS) mechanism in a confined reactor. Room-temperature photoluminescence spectra of as-synthesized GaN powders obtained showed the emission peak at 363 nm.

The removal of dissolved oxygen(DO) from water was studied using a poly(vinyliene fluoride)(PVDF) hollow fiber membrane contactor(HFMC) with the vacuum degassing process(VDP), Asymmetric porous PVDF hollow fiber membranes (HFM) for membrane contactor were prepared by a wet phase inversion method. In spinning of these PVDF hollow fibers, dimethy lacetamide (DMAc), LiCl and pure water were used as a solvent, a pore-forming additive and internal/external coagulant, respectively. The characteristics of the structure(pore size, porosity etc.) of the prepared PVDF HFMs as a function of concentration of pore-forming additive in polymer dope solution were studied. Also, the removal efficiency of DO from water according to flow rates of water, using PVDF HFMC with VDP, was studied. The performance of the asymmetric porous PVDF HFMC and a symmetric porous PP HFMC commercialized were compared. As a result, the asymmetric porous PVDF HFMC showed higher removal efficiency of DO than that of a symmetric porous PP HFMC.
