A Pilot Study on Installation Criteria of Speed Change Lanes according to the Implementation of Safety Speed "5030" in the Urban Area (도심내 안전속도 "5030"시행에 따른 변속차로 설치기준에 관한 기초연구)

  • The speed change lane is installed at the point where the roads are connected on the urban roads, reducing the relative speed to facilitate traffic communication. However, in the case of the speed limit of 30 km/h in accordance with the implementation of the safe speed "5030" in the city, the standard is ambiguous, and there are criticisms about the installation of the transmission lane. This study conducted a pilot study on the traffic patterns of the speed change lanes, focusing on the section where the safe speed "5030" policy was scheduled to be implemented after theoretical consideration of the speed change lanes. After on-site investigation, as a result of analyzing the traffic pattern according to the travel speed of the main road according to road conditions and traffic conditions, the effectiveness of the speed change lane according to the safety speed "5030" was analyzed. In this study, the installation criteria for speed change lane by speed were presented. The criteria is that "speed change lanes should not be installed when the speed limit is 30 km/h, and speed change lanes should be installed when the speed limit is 50 km/h." The criteria will be considered as a reference when establishing engineering standards for connection of other facilities in urban areas in the future. It is expected that unnecessary restrictions on individuals' exercise of private property rights will be minimized, smooth traffic flow and secure safety by the installation of speed change lanes and expansion of turning radius.

Characteristics of Geometric Conditions Affecting Freeway Travel Speed : Focused on Speed Limit Change (고속도로 주행속도 변화에 영향을 미치는 도로기하구조 특성분석 : 제한속도 상향전후 비교를 중심으로)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the effectiveness of speed limit change that is defined as the amount of increased travel speed. METHODS : A ordered logit model was adopted to analyze the relationship between the change in travel speed and contributing factors. A stretch of Kyungbu freeway was selected for the analysis because the Korea expressway corporation has raised speed limit from 100km/h to 110km/h since September 1st in 2010. RESULTS : The results showed that geometric design elements, speeding cameras, and section length were identified as factors contributing the effectiveness. Contributing geometric design elements include the number of horizontal curves and vertical curves that do not meet the design requirement with 110km/h speed limit. CONCLUSIONS : The outcome of this study will be used for establishing various traffic operations and control strategies for freeway speed management.

The Research about Engine Speed change Effect on HCCI Engine Combustion by Numerical Analysis (엔진회전속도의 변화가 HCCI엔진연소에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • In HCCI Engine, combustion is affected by change of compression speed corresponding to engine speed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism of influence of engine speed on HCCI combustion characteristics by using numerical analysis. At first, the influence of engine speed was shown. And then, in order to clarify the mechanism of influence of engine speed, results of kinetics computations were analyzed to investigate the elementary reaction path for heat release at transient temperatures by using contribution matrix. In results, as engine speed increased, in-cylinder gas temperature and pressure at ignition start increased. And ignition start timing was retarded and combustion duration was lengthened on crank angle basis. On time basis, ignition start timing was advanced and combustion duration was shortened. High engine speed showed higher robustness to change of initial temperature than low engine speed. Because of its high robustness, selecting high engine speed was efficient for keeping stable operation in real engine which include variation of initial temperature by various factors. The variation of engine speed did not change the reaction path. But, as engine speed increased, the temperature that each elementary reaction would be active became high and reaction speed quicken. Rising the in-cylinder gas temperature of combustion start was caused by these gaps of temperature.

  • Speed of a diesel engine is usually controlled by the hydraulic governor which uses the centrifugal force of rotating fly balls for sensing the error speed. But for a recently developed high efficient, low speed and long stroke 2 cycle marine diesel engine, this governor doesn't work well enough because of too much changes of toraring force during one revolution of engine and too long uncontrollable time due to small numbers of cylinder. For improvement of jiggling phenomena and unstability various studies are being carried out, but they are not enough for a steep load change in a small ship's generator plant or at rough sea condition in a propulsion engine. In this paper, authors propose a new method to control a fuel before the change of angular velocity due to load change by feedforward the change of load, and find that the proposed method shows quite a good control performance in comparision to the customary PID control method by simulation using a digital computer for the various load change.

Variability of Future Wind and Solar Resource Over the Korean Peninsula Based on Climate Change Scenario (기후변화 시나리오에 근거한 한반도 미래 풍력·태양-기상자원 변동성)

  • This study examines the future variability of surface wind speed and solar radiation based on climate change scenario over the Korean Peninsula. Climate change scenarios used in this study are RCP 4.5 and 8.5 with a 12.5 km horizontal resolution. Climate change scenario RCP 4.5 and 8.5 reproduce the general features of wind speed over the Korean Peninsula, such as strong wind speed during spring and winter and weak wind speed during summer. When compared with the values of wind speed and solar radiation of the future, they are expected to decrease current wind and solar resource map. Comparing the resource maps using RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios, wind speed and solar radiation decrease with increasing greenhouse gas concentration. Meteorological resource maps of future wind and solar radiation should be improved with high resolution for the industrial application.

  • Affected by external factors, errors in time series data collected by sensors are common. Using the traditional method of constraining the speed change rate to clean the errors can get good performance. However, they are only limited to the data of stable changing speed because of fixed constraint rules. Actually, data with uneven changing speed is common in practice. To solve this problem, an online cleaning algorithm for time series data based on dynamic speed change rate constraints is proposed in this paper. Since time series data usually changes periodically, we use the extreme learning machine to learn the law of speed changes from past data and predict the speed ranges that change over time to detect the data. In order to realize online data repair, a dual-window mechanism is proposed to transform the global optimal into the local optimal, and the traditional minimum change principle and median theorem are applied in the selection of the repair strategy. Aiming at the problem that the repair method based on the minimum change principle cannot correct consecutive abnormal points, through quantitative analysis, it is believed that the repair strategy should be the boundary of the repair candidate set. The experimental results obtained on the dataset show that the method proposed in this paper can get a better repair effect.

  • Because the speed limit affects moving speed, it is closely related to traffic accidents as well as traffic flow. The existing speed limit calculation methods consider various engineering factors such as lanes, intersection spacing, driveways, crosswalks, 85 percentile speed, land uses, and roadway geometric characteristics etc. However, it can be said that the engineering analysis is insufficient because the traffic impact analysis considering traffic volume is not carried out. In addition, only 85 percentile speed, which is the spot speed, does not reflect the characteristics of the traffic flow on the road. In this paper, the effect of the speed limit change on the moving speed and the travel speed was analyzed in detail accordinr to the variation of intersection spacing and traffic volume. And by using the results, we proposed a speed limit calculation method that maintains the same service level as before the speed limit change, thereby increasing the speed improvement effect and reducing the difference between moving speed and travel speed. In addition, a variable speed limit operation method according to the change in traffic volume was also suggested. This method is expected to be effective in terms of safety by reducing the speed difference, which affects the severity of traffic accidents, while securing the speed improvement effect, and increasing the speed limit compliance rate of drivers by operating the speed limit that reflects the speed change due to the variation of traffic volume.

  • Generally PI controller is used to control the speed of an induction motor. It has the good performance of speed control in case of adjusting the control parameters. But it occurred the problem to change the control parameters in the change of operation condition. In order to solve this problem, Fuzzy control or Artificial neural network is introduced in the speed control of an induction motor. However, Fuzzy control have the problems as the difficulties to change the membership function and fuzzy rule and the remaining error Also Neural network has the problem as the difficulties to analyze the behavior of inner part. Therefore, the study on the combination of two controller is proceeded. In this paper, Fuzzy-neural controller to make up these controllers in parallel is proposed and the speed control of an induction motor is performed using the proposed controller Through the experiment, the fast response and good stability of the proposed speed controller is proved.

  • When biped robots speed up to run and reduce speed to walk after running, it needs stable speed translation. This paper proposed simple speed translation using the modified LIPM (Linear Inverted Pendulum Mode). We can change stride and period time of a biped robot in some bounded sets with this propose algorithm. This method is simple and effective in simulation.
