  • In this paper ASIC design technique using VHDL is applied to MRAS based speed sensorless control of induction motor. ASIC for MRAS based speed sensorless control is designed through the description of speed estimator using FSM, stator voltage controller, flux angle detector, coordinate transformation, and inverter switching signal output. Finally the above system has been implemented on the FPGA (VERTEX XCV400HQ240). Simulation and experiment have been performed to verify the performance of the designed ASIC.

  • In this paper, simultaneous estimation of rotor speed and time constant for a voltage source inverter (VSI) fed induction motor drive are disccussed. The theory is based on the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). The identifier executes Simultaneous rotor speed and time constant so that vector control of the induction may be achieved in the rotor-flux oriented reference frame. Furthermore, to eliminate the offset error caused by the change in the stator resistance, a fuzzy resistance regulator is also designed which operates in parallel with the rotor speed and time constant identifier

  • This paper presents the rotor parameter identification based on the MRAS theory and the speed estimation using ANN for the sensorless vector control of induction motor. The motor speed is estimated using ANN model which contains the rotor parameter. And the rotor parameter is identified using MRAS scheme which contains the rotor speed. The rotor speed estimate converges to its actual value as the rotor parameter error converges toward the zero. The simulation using Matlab/Simulink is performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • A direct torque control(DTC) based sensorless speed control system which employs a new closed loop flux observer is proposed. The flux observer is an adaptive gain scheduling observer where motor speed is used as the scheduling variable. Adaptive nature comes from the fact that the estimates of stator resistance and speed are included as observer parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed flux observer gives better control and estimation results than conventional flux estimator specially in low speed region.

  • The longitudinal velocity (forward speed) having significant importance in proper running of railway wheelset on track, depends greatly upon the adhesion ratio and creep analysis by implementation of suitable dynamic system on contamination. The wet track condition causes slip and slide of vehicle on railway tracking, whereas high speed may also increase slip and skidding to severe wear and deterioration of mechanical parts. The basic aim of this research is to design appropriate model aimed estimator that can be used to control railway vehicle forward velocity to avoid slip. For the filtration of disturbance procured during running of vehicle, the kalman filter is applied to estimate the actual signal on preferered samples of creep co-efficient for observing the applied attitude of noise. Thus error level is detected on higher and lower co-efficient of creep to analyze adhesion to avoid slip and sliding. The skidding is usually occurred due to higher forward speed owing to procured disturbance. This paper guides to minimize the noise and error based upon creep coefficient.

  • This paper is proposed a ANN-based rotor position and speed estimation method for IPMSM by measuring the currents. Because the proposed estimator treats the estimated motor speed as the weights, it is possible to estimate motor speed to adapt back propagation algorithm with 2 layered neural network. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system. The operating characteristics controlled by neural networks control are examined in detail.

  • When the vector control, which does not need a speed signal from a mechanical speed sensor, it is possible to reduce the cost of the control equipment and to improve the control performance in many industrial application. This paper describes a rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of flux model reference adaptive system. The estimator execute the rotor speed identification so that the vector control of the induction motor may be achieved. The improved auxiliary variable of the two model are introduced In perform accurate rotor speed estimation. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and current controller using space voltage vector PWM technique. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by TMS320C31 digital signal processor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental result.

  • In wind power generating system connected in power grid, the value of stator flux has almost constant because the stator side of doubly fed induction machine(DFIM) is connected to power grid. Using the stator and rotor current, it is possible to estimate the slip angle and rotor speed. A stator flux orientation scheme and rotor slip estimator are employed to achieve control of generating power in stator side. To verify the theoretical analysis, a 5-hp DFIM prototype system and PWM power converter are built. Results of computer simulation and experiment are presented to support the discussion.

  • This paper concerns with a receding horizon estimator (RHE) for discrete-time linear systems subject to constraints on the estimate. In solving the optimization for every horizons, the past all measurement data outside the horizon is discarded and thus the arrival cost is not considered. The RHE in the current work is a finite impulse response (FIR) structure which has some good inherent properties. The proposed RHE can be represented in the simple matrix form for the unconstrained case. Various numerical examples demonstrate how including constraints in the RHE can improve estimation performance. Especially, in the application to the unknown input estimation, it will be shown how the FIR structure in the RHE can improve the estimation speed.
