In this paper, we will examine a Korean large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR) system for broadcast news speech. The combined vowel and implosive unit is included in a phone set together with other short phone units in order to obtain a longer unit acoustic model. The effect of this unit is compared with conventional phone units. The dictionary units for language processing are automatically extracted from eojeols appearing in transcriptions. Triphone models are used for acoustic modeling and a trigram model is used for language modeling. Among three major speaker groups in news broadcasts-anchors, journalists and people (those other than anchors or journalists, who are being interviewed), the speech of anchors and journalists, which has a lot of noise, was used for testing and recognition.

In general it has been considered to be the difficult problem that we divide continuous speech into short interval with having identical phoneme quality. In this paper we used Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) related to probability density to divide speech into phonemes, an initial, medial, and final sound. From them we peformed continuous speech recognition. Decision boundary of phonemes is determined by algorithm with maximum frequency in a short interval. Recognition process is performed by Continuous Hidden Markov Model(CHMM), and we compared it with another phoneme divided by eye-measurement. For the experiments result we confirmed that the method we presented is relatively superior in auto-segmentation in korean speech.

Surrounding noise often affects the performance of speech recognition system when it is used in office or home. Especially situation is more serious when colored and nonstational noise such as an sound from television or other audio equipment is introduced. The authors proposed a voice control system for television set using an adaptive noise canceler, and it works well even is sound of television set has comparable level of speech. In this paper, a new front-end of speech recognition is introduced for the voice control system. This font-end utilizes a simplified masking model to reduce the effect of residual noise. According to experimental results, 90% correct recognition is achieved even if the level of television sound is almost 15dB higher than one of speech.
In this paper, we propose a scheme to improve discriminative property in the feature compensation method for robust speech recognition under noisy environments. The estimation of noisy speech model used in existing feature compensation methods do not guarantee the computation of posterior probabilities which discriminate reliably among the Gaussian components. Estimation of Posterior probabilities is a crucial step in determining the discriminative factor of the Gaussian models, which in turn determines the intelligibility of the restored speech signals. The proposed scheme employs minimum classification error (MCE) training for estimating the parameters of the noisy speech model. For applying the MCE training, we propose to identify and determine the 'competing components' that are expected to affect the discriminative ability. The proposed method is applied to feature compensation based on parallel combined mixture model (PCMM). The performance is examined over Aurora 2.0 database and over the speech recorded inside a car during real driving conditions. The experimental results show improved recognition performance in both simulated environments and real-life conditions. The result verifies the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for increasing the performance of robust speech recognition systems.
Lip-reading technology that is studied them is used to compensate speech recognition degradation in noise environment in bi-modal's form. The most important thing is that search for correct lips area in this lip-reading. But, it is hard to forecast stable performance in dynamic environment. Used RASTA filter that show good performance to remove noise in the speech to compensate. This filter shows that improve performance of using time domain of digital filter. To this experiment observes performance of speech recognition only using image information, service chooses possible 22 words and did recognition experiment in car. We used hidden Markov model by speech recognition algorithm to compare this words' recognition performance.

This paper describes an speaker-adaptive speech recognition system which make a reliable recognition of speech signal for new speakers. In the Proposed method, an speech spectrum of new speaker is adapted to the reference speech spectrum by using Parameters of a 1st linear transformation network at the front of phoneme classification neural network. And the recognition system is based on semicontinuous HMM(hidden markov model) which use the multilayer perceptron as a fuzzy vector quantizer. The experiments on the isolated word recognition are performed to show the recognition rate of the recognition system. In the case of speaker adaptation recognition, the recognition rate show significant improvement for the unadapted recognition system.

The recent research has been focused on fusion of audio and visual features for reliable speech recognition in noisy environments. In this paper, we propose a neural network based model of robust speech recognition by integrating audio, visual, and contextual information. Bimodal Neural Network(BMNN) is a multi-layer perception of 4 layers, each of which performs a certain level of abstraction of input features. In BMNN the third layer combines audio md visual features of speech to compensate loss of audio information caused by noise. In order to improve the accuracy of speech recognition in noisy environments, we also propose a post-processing based on contextual information which are sequential patterns of words spoken by a user. Our experimental results show that our model outperforms any single mode models. Particularly, when we use the contextual information, we can obtain over 90% recognition accuracy even in noisy environments, which is a significant improvement compared with the state of art in speech recognition. Our research demonstrates that diverse sources of information need to be integrated to improve the accuracy of speech recognition particularly in noisy environments.
In this paper, we propose a method of extracting speech features for phoneme recognition based on spikegram. The Fourier-transform-based features are widely used in phoneme recognition, but they are not extracted in a biologically plausible way and cannot have high temporal resolution due to the frame-based operation. For better phoneme recognition, therefore, it is desirable to have a new method of extracting speech features, which analyzes speech signal in high temporal resolution following the model of human auditory system. In this paper, we analyze speech signal based on a spikegram that models feature extraction and transmission in auditory system, and then propose a method of feature extraction from the spikegram for phoneme recognition. We evaluate the performance of proposed features by using a DNN-based phoneme recognizer and confirm that the proposed features provide better performance than the Fourier-transform-based features for short-length phonemes. From this result, we can verify the feasibility of new speech features extracted based on auditory model for phoneme recognition.

This paper proposes an algorithm and a model topology for the connected speech recognition using Discrete Hidden Markov Models. A proposed model uses diphone and triphone model which consider the recognition rate and recognisable vocabulary. Considering more exact inter- phoneme segmentation and execution speed of algorithm, 4 states have to exist in diphone model where the first state and the last state are keeping a steady state, the other states hold a transient state. 7 states have to exist in triphone model where 7 states are specified and improved to 3 steady states and 4 transition states. Also, the proposed speech recognition algorithm is designed to detect the inter-phoneme segmentation during the recognition processing.
Existing Speech feature extracting method in speech Signal, there are incorrect recognition rates due to incorrect speech which is not clear threshold value. In this article, the modeling method for improving speech recognition performance that combines the feature extraction for speech and silence characteristics normalized to the non-speech. The proposed method is minimized the noise affect, and speech recognition model are convergence of speech signal feature extraction to each speech frame and the silence feature normalization. Also, this method create the original speech signal with energy spectrum similar to entropy, therefore speech noise effects are to receive less of the noise. the performance values are improved in signal to noise ration by the silence feature normalization. We fixed speech and non speech classification standard value in cepstrum For th Performance analysis of the method presented in this paper is showed by comparing the results with CHMM HMM, the recognition rate was improved 2.7%p in the speech dependent and advanced 0.7%p in the speech independent.
