The piezoelectric bimorph film, which, as an actuator, can generate more effective displacement than the usual PVDF film, is used to control the turbulent boundary-layer flow. The change of wall pressures inside the turbulent boundary layer is observed by using the multi-channel microphone array flush-mounted on the surface when actuation at the non-dimensional frequency $f_b^+$:=0.008 and 0.028 is applied to the turbulent boundary layer. The wall pressure characteristics by the actuation to produce local displacement are more dominantly influenced by the size of the actuator module than the actuation frequency. The movement of large-scale turbulent structures to the upper layer is found to be the main mechanism of the reduction in the wall- pressure energy spectrum when the 700$700{\nu}/u_{\tau}$-long bimorph film is periodically actuated at the non- dimensional frequency $f_b^+$:=0.008 and 0.028. The biomorph actuator is triggered with the time delay for the active forcing at a single frequency when a 1/8' pressure-type, pin-holed microphone sensor detects the large-amplitude pressure event by the turbulent spot. The wall-pressure energy in the late-transitional boundary layer is partially reduced near the convection wavenumber by the open-loop control based on the large amplitude event.

In this paper, we propose a cooperative multi-relay scheme for a secondary system to achieve spectrum access along with a primary system. In the primary network, a primary transmitter (PT) transmits the primary signal to a primary receiver (PR). In the secondary network, N secondary transmitter-receiver pairs (ST-SR) selected by a centralized control unit (CCU) are ready to assist the primary network. In particular, in the first time slot, PT broadcasts the primary signal to PR, which is also received by STs and SRs. At STs, the primary signal is regenerated and linearly combined with the secondary signal by assigning fractions of the available power to the primary and secondary signals respectively. The combined signal is then broadcasted by STs in a predetermined order. In order to achieve diversity gain, STs, SRs and PT will combine received replicas of the primary signal, using selection combining technique (SC). We derive the exact outage probability for the primary network as well as the secondary network. The simulation results are presented to verify the theoretical analyses.

Intercell interference coordination (ICIC) is considered as a promising technique to increase the spectral efficiency of OFDMA cellular systems. The soft frequency reuse (SFR) and fractional frequency reuse (FFR) are representative and efficient management techniques for ICIC. Herein, to enhance the performance of the SFR scheme, we propose a call admission (CAC) scheme. In this CAC scheme, called Spectrum handoff-SFR(S-SFR), the spectrum handoff technique is applied to the user equipment (UE) located near the cell center. We derive the traffic analysis model to describe the S-SFR. In addition, a two-dimensional (2-D) Markov chain and an outage analysis are used in our analytical model. From the traffic analysis, the significant performance measures are the outage probability, call blocking probability, system throughput and resource utilization. Based on those, the outage probability and system throughput are obtained using resource utilization as an interference pattern. The analytical results are verified with computer simulation results. Finally, we compare our proposed scheme with other ICI schemes.
This paper introduces the development of the iterative multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation system using a rotator that can control the direction of antenna for the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) interference. The system calculates the spatial spectrum according to the noise eigenvector of all dimensions to measure the number of signals (NOS). Also, to detect the false peak, the system adjusts the array antenna's direction and checks the change's peak angles. The phase delay and gain correction values for system calibration are calculated in consideration of the chamber's structure and the characteristics of radio waves. The developed system estimated DOAs of interferences located about 1km away. The field test results show that the developed system can estimate the DOA without NOS information and detect the false peak even though the inter-element spacing is longer than the half-wavelength of the interference.
In this study, the dynamic instabilities of a nonlinear elastic system subjected to follower forces are investigated. The two-degree-of-freedom double pendulum model with nonlinear geometry, cubic spring, and linear viscous damping is used for the study. The constant, the initial impact forces acting at the end of the model are considered. The chaotic nature of the system is identified using the standard methods, such as time histories, power density spectrum, and Poincare maps. The responses are chaotic and unpredictable due to the sensitivity to initial conditions. The sensitivities to parameters, such as geometric initial imperfections, magnitude of follower force, direction control constant, and viscous damping, etc., are analysed. Dynamic buckling loads are computed for various parameters, where the loads are changed drastically for the small change of parameters.

This paper describes the parameter convergence properties of an adaptive system to identify a single-input single-output plant model. It is demonstrated that, by using power spectrum analysis, the persistency of excitation (PE) condition in order to guarantee the exponential stability of the adaptive control system can be transformed into the positive definite behavior for the auto-correlation function matrix of adaptive signal. The existence of parameter nominal values can be analyzed by this condition and the convergence rates of parameter are determined by examining the auto-correlation function. We may use the sufficient richness (SR) of input spectrum instead of the PE condition to analyze the parameter boundedness. It can be shown that the eigen values of the auto-correlation function are always related with adaptive gain, input amplitude and positions or numbers of input spectra. In each case, the variation of parameter convergence rate can be also verified.

Some of the steel works and machine tool manufacturers representing the whole spectrum of these industries in Korea are surveyed with a viewpoint from total quality control. The operation of quality control system in these fields has been found to be unsatisfactory partly because these industries are relatively young compared with those in advanced foreign countries, and partly because there have been insufficient financial and top management support. Some suggestions are made for the improvement of steel and machine tools quality. One of them is introducing the industrial engineering techniques, with additional quality control costs and full management support, into the company-wide quality control system.
Vibration test fixture is used in random vibration control testing. The specified reference spectrum should be transmitted equally to the specimen attachment points on the fixture. In most practical cases, however, spectrum at each of specimen attachment points may be quite different from the specified reference spectrum because of the dynamic characteristics of vibration test fixture. This paper proposes the method of experimental dynamic modification of fixture system for vibration test so that the reference spectrum can be transmitted to the specimen attachment points without distortion. The stiffness of mounts of specimen and the thickness of fixture are considered as design variables. The frequency response functions of specimen used for input data are obtained from vibration testing, and the frequency response functions of fixture are obtained from finite element modeling. The sensitivities of frequency response functions at specimen attachment points to the mount stiffness are derived from synthesis method of transfer function. And the sensitivities to the thickness of fixture are also derived from finite element modeling. The presented method is verified by computer simulation and vibration testing.

The CBTC(Communication based Train Control) system employed on 2.4GHz ISM band adopt the IEEE802.11.x standard. Therefor communication time delay, distortion and data losses will be produced. To overcome these problems, CPSK(Continuous Phase shift keying) modulated DS/SS(Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) transmitter with 908MHz carrier frequency is proposed. Through the eye diagram and scatter diagram the performance is analysed. And the phase noise characteristic of the local oscillator is measured about 60dBc/Hz, this means that the phase noise performance is very good compared to the signal. Reference frequency suppression of the 2nd local oscillator is 50dB below compared to the signal. Through the polarities of the complementary signal equally probable, the line spectrum of the output spectrum is eliminated. The nonlinear effects which introduce the spectral spreading or spectral regeneration is reduced remarkably.

In this paper the existence of chaotic signal is probed in adaptive dead beat control law for nonlinear dynamic system. These chaotic signal makes the system unstable and difficult to control, but it broaden the range of application, confirms the robustness of system and gives a lot of information. Considering of low correlation between chaotic signals, robust adaptive control method which uses for parameter estimation is proposed. With this algorithm the parameters converges stable rapidly. Finally the superiority of it is proved by computer simulation.
