  • Sangju, a city in the North Gyeongsang Province, is well known as "Three Whites", representing its three main agricultural products: rice, silkworm, and dried persimmons. Therefore, development of a variety of dishes or products that can promote the consumption of dried persimmons is an urgent requirement for this region. This study was designed to provide fundamental information for revitalizing community-based specialized agriculture through scientific inquiry into medicinal foods and to develop a medicinal food menu based on the results of previous research and pre-survey. The pre-survey results and incompatibility revealed that palatability influenced people's decision to consume dried persimmons far more than pharmacological functionality. Therefore, palatability played an important part in the development of dried persimmon puddings with acceptable texture. These dishes are in high demand as they suit the tastes of variety of consumers. The inclusion of various additives lowered the sugar content in the developed foods and made the products alkalescent (pH > 7), thereby improving functionality. Unique color and flavor additives were also important criteria that determined the selection attributes of the developed medicinal foods. In addition, the additives had a positive effect on the fragrance and texture of the foods. In conclusion, the results suggested that use of additives provides significant advantages in promoting the consumption of Sangju-dried persimmons by improving both functionality and palatability.

The boom of IoT will come when there exist diversified and personalized services. In general, we might admit that it is needed that the more privatized services than the overall serviced. Jeju Island is the only one special self-governing province in Republic of Korea and deserves to be proud of the unique culture from its long historical background. One of the very regional culture which performs by women divers, Haenyeo activity or culture, was registered as Intangible Cultural Heritage. When authors were researched Jeju Haenyeo as a worthy reserving service, we recognized that it has never considered to use any point of ICT/IoT yet. Because IoT holds the high potentiality to create any service scenario between interesting groups. We will design a few services for Haenyeo which covers their job territory or daily life, adopts up-to-date technology or method such as sensored network, smart contract and App/Web. In this paper, we intent to show the simplicity and easiness of the application of IoT not to much inconspicuous target. So, we suggest a specialized IoT service for the reservation and promotion of Haenyeo Culture. This service would be composed of sensors, IoT network and App/Web at home and office. This service can be used among interesting groups : Haenyeo, policy maker, manufacturer, service provider and culture consumer.

  • In this paper, a feature-based registration technique is proposed for pre-contrast and post-contrast lung CT images. It utilizes three dimensional(3-D) features with their descriptors and estimates feature correspondences by nearest neighborhood matching in the feature space. We design a transformation model between the input image pairs using a free form deformation(FFD) which is based on B-splines. Registration is achieved by minimizing an energy function incorporating the smoothness of FFD and the correspondence information through a non-linear gradient conjugate method. To deal with outliers in feature matching, our energy model integrates a robust estimator which discards outliers effectively by iteratively reducing a radius of confidence in the minimization process. Performance evaluation was carried out in terms of accuracy and efficiency using seven pairs of lung CT images of clinical practice. For a quantitative assessment, a radiologist specialized in thorax manually placed landmarks on each CT image pair. In comparative evaluation to a conventional feature-based registration method, our algorithm showed improved performances in both accuracy and efficiency.

  • North Korea has been striving to promote a national informatization strategy after getting through the period of 'Arduous March'in the 1990s. First of all, North Korea has made organizations required for implementing the national informatization strategy. They reorganized and created the Science & Education Ministry, the Machine & Industry Ministry, and the 21 bureau under the Workers' Party of Korea while making special units in the Royal Mail, Royal electron & industry, National Academy of Sciences under cabinet. Then they completed all the essential organizational system for informatization including newly built specialized agencies: 'Korea Computer Center; KCC' & 'Pyongyang Informatics Center: PIC'. But North Korea's informatization system has a rigid hierarchy. All the organizations in the hierarchical system are controlled by the Workers' Party of Korea. It means that North Korea consider IT as a tool for the centralized control of the Party and the government. So, these characteristics of North Korea's informatization system clearly give us a picture that tells us what they want from the national informatization and where they're going.
