Design and Implementation of a 3-dimensional GIS Data Provider System (3차원 GIS 데이터제공자 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • The 3-dimensional GIS data provider system manages and retrieves 2, 3-dimensional spatial and time data. This system provides the standard interfaces which help developers to omit additional works to do modify or convert a format of 2 or 3-dimensional spatial data, which has been already accumulated, into that dependent on a specified system. This system consists of a data provider and data access component. The former deals with the connections with some databases and manages the meta data, so that the various GIS or software can access to 3-dimensional spatial and time data via the same method, and the latter takes charge of index management and spatial operations on GIS data for consumers. The system offers the diverse spatial operations and analysis functions for 3-dimensional GIS.

A Study on Developing Traffic Data Converting Algorithm for FM DARC (FM DARC용 교통정보 변환알고리즘 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a converting algorithm for providing real-time traffic information through the FM DARC(DAta Radio Channel). The converting algorithm based on the GIS node-link system enables raw traffic data to be a standard traffic information. The standard traffic information in data quality, quantity and format is an essential to construct the FM DARC traffic information system effectively. We have developed the algorithm and applied it to the FM DARC system. After introducing FM DARC briefly, this paper presents GIS DB, the converting algorithm and the client/server FM DARC system.

The Conversion Scheme of GML Document into Spatial Database using the Directed Schema Graph Mapping Rules (방향성 스키마 그래프 매핑 규칙을 이용한 GML 문서의 공간 데이터베이스 변환 기법)

  • GML (Geography Markup Language) has become the widely adopted standard for transport and storage of geographic information. So, various researches such as modeling, storage, query, and etc have been studied to provide the interoperability of geographic information in web environments. Especially, there are increased needs to store semi-structured data such as GML documents efficiently. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement a GML repository to store GML documents on the basis of GML schema using spatial database system. GML Schema is converted into directed GML schema graph and the schema mapping technique from directed schema graph to spatial schema is presented. Also, we define the conversion rules on spatial schema to preserve the constraints of GML schema. GML repository using spatial database system is useful to provide the interoperability of geographic information and to store and manage enormous GML documents.

  • The development of modern science and technology has a tremendous impact on culture and communication. Therefore a library that typically serves to collect, arrange and provide information is required to perform more diversified roles to stay abreast with changing modern society. Recent surge in demand for public library construction or remodeling is expected, but we still are in an actual condition that there is no model about the library spatial operation which considers the type and a service size of library. the purpose of this study is to examine the conditions for the rational and systematic spatial management of public library in today`s changing information society, to make a case study on the state of spatial management, and to suggest the efficient rearrangement of spatial component as a solution. In this study, for rapid assembly and remodeling business plan of the library can be referred to, we should do following things for the development of a standard model which has a rational space operations that correspond to the library features and services size. Firstly, analyze the space configuration of our nation's public libraries. Secondly, collect and analyze the libraries' spatial configuration in our nation and at abroad. Thirdly, define the next stretch of public library buildings by their types and develop a reasonable model as to the spatial configuration and present it.

A Fast Inter-prediction Mode Decision Algorithm for HEVC Based on Spatial-Temporal Correlation

  • Many new techniques have been adopted in HEVC (High efficiency video coding) standard, such as quadtree-structured coding unit (CU), prediction unit (PU) partition, 35 intra-mode, and so on. To reduce computational complexity, the paper proposes two optimization algorithms which include fast CU depth range decision and fast PU partition mode decision. Firstly, depth range of CU is predicted according to spatial-temporal correlation. Secondly, we utilize the depth difference between the current CU and CU corresponding to the same position of adjacent frame for PU mode range selection. The number of traversal candidate modes is reduced. The experiment result shows the proposed algorithm obtains a lot of time reducing, and the loss of coding efficiency is inappreciable.

  • The Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) has been constructing a nationwide soil information DB since 2000, as basic data for the construction of 'underground geographical information,' a project under the 2nd National Geo-spatial Information System (NGIS) master plan. The inputted soil information includes not only underground conditions such as the layer depth, type, color, and groundwater level, but also engineering information that can be applied to construction work design, such as on the standard penetration test and the compression test. It is difficult to use this information in soil analysis and design, however, because only the test results are currently available. A web-based geo-spatial information system was developed in this study to facilitate the effective application of the soil information database (DB). First, the space information, layer information, and engineering test information were loaded from the soil information DB in real time, and the earth volume, bearing capacity, and settlement were calculated to develop a web client that will evaluate the ground softness and liquefaction. It seems that the soil information DB can be actively applied to the planning and design of construction works using this system.

  • In this study, and taking into consideration of previous studies a trend of BIM was noticed, related to BIM software analysis and problems. Also, Geo-spatial information technology presented layered standard direction for BIM built harbor structures. Thoughts of this study, existing of two-dimensions and BIM problems based on architecture needs for applications were identified. Also, harbor structures targeting civil-BIM layer of technology-based GIS projects, and Busan International Ferry Terminal to target existing BIM comparison with harbors in the field based on GIS civil engineering-BIM standardization and direction of application could be presented.

  • Recently, local governments in Korea are promoting the rapid development of marine for delineating jurisdictional sea area. The importance of a maritime boundary has being emphasized, as jurisdictional sea area disputes among local governments have been increasing. The absence of the delineating standard of maritime boundary has become a source of contention between neighborhood local governments. So the delineating standard of maritime boundary in Korea will be required. The purpose of this study is to derive an improvement plan for the scientific delimitation standard of maritime boundary by analyzing "A hydrographic survey guideline for confirmation of maritime boundary". The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, we defined the concept of the delimitation standard of maritime boundary. Secondly, we set the boundary, factors and processes of the delineating standard of maritime boundary through classifying them in detail. Lastly, we suggested the makeup of a conflict adjustment committee for preventing jurisdictional sea area disputes among local governments.

  • This paper suggests design and implementation of moving objects management system using GML which is the XML encoding standard of geographic data. The proposed system integrates spatial data and moving objects data, utilizing the concept of Web Feature Services. While integrating data, standard data model and interfaces, proposed by OGC, are used. Since GML is standard for storing and transferring spatial/non-spatial data, interoperability and extendibility can be obtained.
