  • The update of a high-precision map was carried out by modifying the geometric information using ortho-images or point-cloud data as the source data and then reconstructing the relationship between the spatial objects. These series of processes take considerable time to process the geometric information, making it difficult to apply real-time route planning to a vehicle quickly. Therefore, this study proposed a method to update the road network for route planning using a graph data structure and storage type of graph data structure considering the characteristics of the road network. The proposed method was also reviewed to assess the feasibility of real-time route information transmission by applying it to actual road data.

  • River cross-section measurement data is one of the most important input data in research related to hydraulic and hydrological modeling, such as flow calculation and flood forecasting warning methods for river management. However, the acquisition of accurate and continuous cross-section data of rivers leading to irregular geometric structure has significant limitations in terms of time and cost. In this regard, a primary objective of this study is to develop a methodology that is able to measure the spatial distribution of continuous river characteristics by minimizing the input of time, cost, and manpower. Therefore, in this study, we tried to examine the possibility and accuracy of continuous cross-section estimation by estimating the water depth for each cross-section through multiple linear regression analysis using RGB-based aerial images and actual data. As a result of comparing with the actual data, it was confirmed that the depth can be accurately estimated within about 2 m of water depth, which can capture spatially heterogeneous relationships, and this is expected to contribute to accurate and continuous river cross-section acquisition.

  • The spatial distribution of electromagnetic fields in the human body can be adjusted by using high dielectric materials. This method has a complementary compared to other methods. However, it can be used as a powerful dielectric shimming tool in certain applications. It can be manufactured in a geometrically free shape and a pad manufactured according to the purpose can be applied without any change of the system. Especially in ultrahigh magnetic field (UHF) MRI, the clinical high dielectric pad used to increase the intensity of the transmit (B1+) and receive (B1-) fields, which has low sensitivity due to the high operating frequency, has great potential. In addition, there are few studies applied to UHF MRI. Therefore, in this study, a high dielectric material pad made of calcium titanate suspension was developed in the laboratory. And the signal increase of clinically useful images was confirmed in various protocols of UHF 7T MRI.

  • A quality assurance of computed tomography(CT) have done seven items that were water attenuation coefficient, noise, homogeneity, spatial resolution, contrast resolution, slice thickness, artifact using by standard phantom. But there is no quality assurance items and methods for CT simulator at domestic institutions yet. Therefore the study aimed to access the CT dose index(CTDI), table tilting, image distortion, laser accuracy, table movement accuracy and CT seven items for CT simulator quality assurance. The CTDI at the center of the head phantom was 0.81 for 80 kVp, 1.55 for 100 kVp, 2.50 for 120 mm, 0.22 for 80 kVp at the center of the body phantom, 0.469 for 100 kVp, and 0.81 for 120 kVp. The table tilting was within the tolerance range of ±1.0° or less. Image distortion had 1 mm distortion in the left and right images based on the center, and the laser accuracy was measured within ±2 mm tolerance. The purpose of this study is to improve the quality assurance items suitable for the current situation in Korea in order to protect the normal tissues during the radiation treatment process and manage the CT simulator that is implemented to find the location of the tumor more clearly. In order to improve the accuracy of the CT simulator when looking at the results, the error range of each item should be small. It is hoped that the quality assurance items of the CT simulator will be improved by suggesting the quality assurance direction of the CT simulator in this study, and the results of radiation therapy will also improve.

  • This paper proposes a method to solve problems that may occur when SPIHT(set partition in hierarchical trees) is used in a dedicated codec for compressing complex holograms with ultra-high resolution. The development of codecs for complex holograms can be largely divided into a method of creating dedicated compression methods and a method of using anchor codecs such as HEVC and JPEG2000 and adding post-processing techniques. In the case of creating a dedicated compression method, a separate conversion tool is required to analyze the spatial characteristics of complex holograms. Zero-tree-based algorithms in subband units such as EZW and SPIHT have a problem that when coding for high-resolution images, intact subband information is not properly transmitted during bitstream control. This paper proposes a method of dividing wavelet subbands to solve such a problem. By compressing each divided subbands, information throughout the subbands is kept uniform. The proposed method showed better restoration results than PSNR compared to the existing method.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the status of quality control using multipurpose phantom of ultrasound equipment used in hospital of veterinary college in South Korea by using ATS-539 multipurpose phantom so as to examine quantitative and objective new image evaluation method. Specialists discussed and analyzed multipurpose phantom images acquired by using convex transducer of 10 ultrasound imaging devices, currently used in 9 veterinary colleges, at 4.0-6.0 MHz. Total 8 items that can be measured with ATS-539 multipurpose phantom including dead zone, vertical and horizontal measurement, axial/lateral resolution, sensitivity, focal zone, functional resolution and gray scale/dynamic range were evaluated. For qualitative evaluation, valid decisions were made based on dead zone, axial/lateral resolution, and gray scale/dynamic range which are resolution index, and coefficient of variation (COV) and blind referenceless image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) were found to increase objectivity. As a result of experiment, all the targeted ultrasonic devices were found appropriate from qualitative evaluation items of dead zone, axial/lateral resolution, and gray scale/dynamic range. In other evaluation items, they were found to be appropriate from focal zone and vertical measurement of quantitative evaluation while inappropriate from horizontal measurement, sensitivity, and functional resolution. COV value was 0.12 ± 0.04, and BRISQUE value was 47.77 ± 2.77, both analysis results show that the noise level of all ultrasonic devices was located within tolerance range. Upon image examination using ATS-539 multipurpose phantom, they were 100% appropriate with inspection standards of dead zone, axial/lateral resolution, and gray scale/dynamic range, and besides, focal zone and functional resolution can be used as evaluation items. In the field of veterinary medicine, 8 standard items using ATS-539 multipurpose phantom and image evaluation items using COV and BRISQUE can be used as standards for quality control of ultrasonography machine.

  • As part of strengthening energy security and responding to climate change, the government has promoted various renewable energy measures to increase the development of renewable energy facilities. As a result, small-scale solar installations in rural areas have increased rapidly. The number of complaints from local residents is increasing. Therefore, in this study, deep learning technology is applied to high-resolution aerial images on the internet to detect solar power plants installed in rural areas to determine whether or not solar power plants are installed. Specifically, I examined the solar facility detector generated by training the YOLO(You Only Look Once) v2 object detector and looked at its usability. As a result, about 800 pieces of training data showed a high object detection rate of 93%. By constructing such an object detection model, it is expected that it can be utilized for land use monitoring in rural areas, and it can be utilized as a spatial data construction plan for rural areas using technology for detecting small-scale agricultural facilities.

  • Computed radiography (CR) systems, which convert an analog signal recorded on a cassette into a digital image, combine the characteristics of analog and digital imaging systems. Compared to digital radiography (DR) systems, CR systems have presented difficulties in evaluating system performance because of their lower detective quantum efficiency, their lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and lower modulation transfer function (MTF). During the step of energy-storing and reading out, a baseline offset occurs in the edge area and makes low-frequency overestimation. The low-frequency offset component in the line spread function (LSF) critically affects the MTF and other image-analysis or qualification processes. In this study, we developed the method of baseline correction using mathematical morphology to determine the LSF and MTF of CR systems accurately. We presented a baseline correction that used a morphological filter to effectively remove the low-frequency offset from the LSF. We also tried an MTF evaluation of the CR system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the baseline correction. The MTF with a 3-pixel structuring element (SE) fluctuated since it overestimated the low-frequency component. This overestimation led the algorithm to over-compensate in the low-frequency region so that high-frequency components appeared relatively strong. The MTFs with between 11- and 15-pixel SEs showed little variation. Compared to spatial or frequency filtering that eliminated baseline effects in the edge spread function, our algorithm performed better at precisely locating the edge position and the averaged LSF was narrower.

  • Compared with two-stage object detection algorithms, one-stage algorithms provide a better trade-off between real-time performance and accuracy. However, these methods treat the intermediate features equally, which lacks the flexibility to emphasize meaningful information for classification and location. Besides, they ignore the interaction of contextual information from different scales, which is important for medium and small objects detection. To tackle these problems, we propose an image pyramid network based on dual attention mechanism (DAIPNet), which builds an image pyramid to enrich the spatial information while emphasizing multi-scale informative features based on dual attention mechanisms for one-stage object detection. Our framework utilizes a pre-trained backbone as standard detection network, where the designed image pyramid network (IPN) is used as auxiliary network to provide complementary information. Here, the dual attention mechanism is composed of the adaptive feature fusion module (AFFM) and the progressive attention fusion module (PAFM). AFFM is designed to automatically pay attention to the feature maps with different importance from the backbone and auxiliary network, while PAFM is utilized to adaptively learn the channel attentive information in the context transfer process. Furthermore, in the IPN, we build an image pyramid to extract scale-wise features from downsampled images of different scales, where the features are further fused at different states to enrich scale-wise information and learn more comprehensive feature representations. Experimental results are shown on MS COCO dataset. Our proposed detector with a 300 × 300 input achieves superior performance of 32.6% mAP on the MS COCO test-dev compared with state-of-the-art methods.
