Characteristics of Marine Debris collected from the Coastline of Sandbar in the Nakdong River Estuary (낙동강 하구 사주 해안에서 수거한 쓰레기 종류 및 분포량 추정)

  • This study investigated the spatial distribution of the marine debris in Jinudo in the Nakdong river estuary. Types of marine debris in Jinudo are analyzed through sampling around some portion of its sandbar shoreline. The present study and its main results are summarized as follow: 1) Monitoring system, for evaluating the volume of marine debris, was established in the coastal region of $50\;m\;{\times}\;50\;m\;(=0.002\;km^2)$ over the southern part of Jinudo. All the marine debris of conceivable form are collected and their amount was also estimated. 2) During the $1^{st}$ collection in May 2007, the total weight of the marine debris was 1,110 kg in this site, which means the density of marine debris around the shoreline is $444\;ton/km^2$. After one month later, the collected marine debris was 23.75 kg and so we have the average density of $9.5\;ton/km^2$. From these results, it is suggested that the marine debris of 316.67kg was being accumulated per day over unit area($1\;km^2$). 3) The most frequent marine debris collected during monitoring campaigns was wooden material amounting to 85.86% of the whole collection; the rest were fishing gears such as nets and buoys(5.13%), household waste(2.34%), glass(0.94%) and metals(0.27%).

Development of Field Scale Model for Estimating Garlic Growth Based on UAV NDVI and Meteorological Factors

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has several advantages over conventional remote sensing techniques. They can acquire high-resolution images quickly and repeatedly. And with a comparatively lower flight altitude, they can obtain good quality images even in cloudy weather. In this paper, we developed for estimating garlic growth at field scale model in major cultivation regions. We used the $NDVI_{UAV}$ that reflects the crop conditions, and seven meteorological elements for 3 major cultivation regions from 2015 to 2017. For this study, UAV imagery was taken at Taean, Changnyeong, and Hapcheon regions nine times from early February to late June during the garlic growing season. Four plant growth parameters, plant height (P.H.), leaf number (L.N.), plant diameter (P.D.), and fresh weight (F.W.) were measured for twenty plants per plot for each field campaign. The multiple linear regression models were suggested by using backward elimination and stepwise selection in the extraction of independent variables. As a result, model of cold type explain 82.1%, 65.9%, 64.5%, and 61.7% of the P.H., F.W., L.N., P.D. with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 7.98 cm, 5.91 g, 1.05, and 3.43 cm. Especially, model of warm type explain 92.9%, 88.6%, 62.8%, 54.6% of the P.H., P.D., L.N., F.W. with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 16.41 cm, 9.08 cm, 1.12, 19.51 g. The spatial distribution map of garlic growth was in strong agreement with the field measurements in terms of field variation and relative numerical values when $NDVI_{UAV}$ was applied to multiple linear regression models. These results will also be useful for determining the UAV multi-spectral imagery necessary to estimate growth parameters of garlic.

Migration Characteristic Analysis on Red Tide Using GIS (지리정보시스템을 이용한 적조의 이동특성분석)

  • The research on red tide is generally in progress through field work, such as the naked eye and sampling. It was difficult to forecast exactly the course, from appearance of red tide to disappearance. with the established ways of investigation and analysis. Accordingly it is need to analyze environmental factors in time and space, the appearance of red tide and the path of its migration by more objective and scientific methods. In this study, GIS is applied to analyse the space character of red tide and the interpolation of IDW(Inverse Distance Weight) is applied to assume the density distribution of red tide after gather data by using Arc/Info. After IDW interpolation, the sea area occurred over 1,000 cells/ml of red tide density is extracted with CON and SUM Function of Grid Module, and the density of the sea area is accumulated daily. As a result of this study, the distribution condition of red tide is found timely and spacially by applying GIS to the sea area of red tide, the results indicated that the spatial density and the cumulative frequency about the origin of red tide using GIS, the sea area demonstrated that the maximum density and the maximum frequency varied significantly over the Nammyun of Namhae-Is. with the maximum frequency being 49 times. accordingly if data about the areas of red tide will occur from the present are accumulated, the shifting route of red tide occurrence and extinction can be predicted.

Edge-adaptive demosaicking method for complementary color filter array of digital video cameras (디지털 비디오 카메라용 보색 필터를 위한 에지 적응적 색상 보간 방법)

  • Complementary color filter array (CCFA) is widely used in consumer-level digital video cameras, since it not only has high sensitivity and good signal-to-noise ratio in low-light condition but also is compatible with the interlaced scanning used in broadcast systems. However, the full-color images obtained from CCFA suffer from the color artifacts such as false color and zipper effects. These artifacts can be removed with edge-adaptive demosaicking (ECD) approaches which are generally used in rrimary color filter array (PCFA). Unfortunately, the unique array pattern of CCFA makes it difficult that CCFA adopts ECD approaches. Therefore, to apply ECD approaches suitable for CCFA to demosaicking is one of the major issues to reconstruct the full-color images. In this paper, we propose a new ECD algorithm for CCFA. To estimate an edge direction precisely and enhance the quality of the reconstructed image, a function of spatial variances is used as a weight, and new color conversion matrices are presented for considering various edge directions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional method with respect to both objective and subjective criteria.

Floating Photovoltaic Plant Location Analysis using GIS (GIS를 활용한 수상 태양광 발전소 입지 분석)

  • Global consumption of fossil fuels continues to increase. As developing countries use fossil fuel as much as the existing fossil fuel using countries, the total amount of fossil fuel consumed has risen. The finite fossil energy depletion insecurity have become serious. In addition, fossil energy is caused by environmental pollution, economic and social problems remain in assignments that need to be addressed. Although solar power is clean and has many benefits, there are several problems in the process of installing a solar power plant. To solve these problems, floating photovoltaic plants has emerged as an alternative. This floating photovoltaic plants location analysis has not been made yet. In this study, the conditions of the floating photovoltaic plants location is analyzed with the Analytic Hierarchy Process using the terrain and climate factors. The score is assigned to the attribute information of each factor by the classification table. After multiplied by the weight the result is analyzed by visualization of the score. As the result, the score of the northen part of Gyeongsangbuk-do province is higher than the southern part of Gyeongsangbuk-do province. Especially Andongho lake in Andong City and the reservoir in Yeongyang-Gun are extracted as the optimal location. The score of the river boundary is low not the center of the river stream. It is expected that this study would be a more accurate floating solar power plant location analysis.

Organization of Profitable Cattle Husbandry Through Exploiting Favourable Environment Factors (환경요인을 적절하게 이용한 경제성 있는 축산조직 -헝가리의 사례연구-)

  • Through manifestation of the principles of commodity production spatial sharing of labour can be observed in the agriculture as well as in cattle production. Better adjustment of the production structure to the environment factors brings higher yields and more effective production. In being able to maximize the profit the entrepreneurs opt for producing output that closely matches to their featuring conditions. In contrary to the relatively high "mobility" of crop production animal husbandry and within this cattle production - as known - is strictly chained to forage production. On the basis of our economic research and as a result of multivariable analysis(factor analysis) it can be concluded that two variable groups(factors) are highly dominant in organizing profitable cattle production. First of them is the crop site factor (indicated by gold crown value), the second is the forage production feature(forage and grassland area and the yield of them). During recent years the weight of environmental factors suffered from devaluation. As a result of the central economic administration differentiating effects were suppressed and the chances of equalizing concepts strengthened. The outcome can be observed even today. In the regions, for example, being predominantly suitable for grass and forage cropping the milk and slaughter cattle production decreased. The same is ture for com and pig production regions. Unexploitment of local environmental features can be observed mainly in grassland management. Branches being potential user of grasslands hardly take them into consideration. Main method of rational use of grasslands is pasturing. Presence of pastures and the usage of them through cattle production is highly important not only for profitable production but also for maintaining ecological stability.

Salinity and Distribution of Zooplankton in the Estuarine System of Mankyong River and Dongjin River (만경 동진강 하구계의 동물플랑크톤의 분포와 염분)

  • Zooplankton were sampled horizontally with a standard net from the surface layer of the estuarine system of Mankyong River and Dongjin River in October, 1989, March, May, and July, 1990. Among dominant taxa of the zooplankton community, copepods were predominant in October, 1989 and March, 1990 and Noctiluca scintillans in May and July, 1990. Abundance of zooplankton showed considerable spatial and temporal fluctuations with a range of $12~9,256ind./m^3$ in wet weight. In the copepod community, Pseudodiaptomus inopinus and Paracalanus inducus were predominant in October, 1989: Acartia hudosonica and P. inducus in March, 1990; A. hudosonica and Centropages abdoinalis in May, 1990; A. pacifica, P. indicus and Tortanus spinicaudatus in July. 1990. In summer (July),there were large seasonal changes in salinity ($0.7~28.9\textperthousand$), due to monsoonal flooding, and associated changes in community structured of copepods. There were eight species of copepods in the mixo-mesohaline zone ($5.0~28.8\textperthousand$), namely Acartia pacifica, A. hudosonica, Centropages tenuiremis, C. abdominalis, Labidocera Euchaeta, Tortanus spinicaudatus, corycaeus affinis and Paracalanus indicus. On the other hand, Thermocouple hyalinus, Pseudodiaptomus inopinus and Sinocalanus tenellus occurred in the mixo-oligohaline zone ($0.5~5.0\textperthousand$), showing more tolerant of low salinity than any of the other species. In the mixoeuhaline zone ($>28.0\textperthousand$), Labidocera bipinnata, Oithona similes, Calanus sinicus, Acartia omorii and Tortanus forcipatus were founded.

A Method for Optimal Moving Pattern Mining using Frequency of Moving Sequence (이동 시퀀스의 빈발도를 이용한 최적 이동 패턴 탐사 기법)

  • Since the traditional pattern mining methods only probe unspecified moving patterns that seem to satisfy users' requests among diverse patterns within the limited scopes of time and space, they are not applicable to problems involving the mining of optimal moving patterns, which contain complex time and space constraints, such as 1) searching the optimal path between two specific points, and 2) scheduling a path within the specified time. Therefore, in this paper, we illustrate some problems on mining the optimal moving patterns with complex time and space constraints from a vast set of historical data of numerous moving objects, and suggest a new moving pattern mining method that can be used to search patterns of an optimal moving path as a location-based service. The proposed method, which determines the optimal path(most frequently used path) using pattern frequency retrieved from historical data of moving objects between two specific points, can efficiently carry out pattern mining tasks using by space generalization at the minimum level on the moving object's location attribute in consideration of topological relationship between the object's location and spatial scope. Testing the efficiency of this algorithm was done by comparing the operation processing time with Dijkstra algorithm and $A^*$ algorithm which are generally used for searching the optimal path. As a result, although there were some differences according to heuristic weight on $A^*$ algorithm, it showed that the proposed method is more efficient than the other methods mentioned.

Post-Historical Description and Spatial Attribute - Focusing on the Movie Paradise in Service - (탈역사 서술과 공간의 표상 - 영화 <군중낙원>을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the narrative-building method and the post-historical descriptive aspects of the movie Paradise in Service, which deals with the modern history of Taiwan. Although Paradise in Service tells the history of a certain time period, it focuses on the anguish and agony felt by people who lived during that age rather than on the meaning of historical events or interpretation of the past in terms of official historical discourse. That is, as it avoids looking at the present by composing a narrative in the descriptive historical context and from bearing weight from the viewpoint of realism, it gains the possibility of establishing a new field of discourse through a post-historical discussion using descriptive historical texts. However, the movie tries to create fantasy through a special type of licensed prostitution as a means of post-historical description. In other words, when this movie tries to reproduce the microscopic history of common people in trouble because of a historical tragedy, it considers only men and excludes "weak" women. Thus, although Paradise in Service has meaning in that it gives an example of how movies can disrupt official historical discourse and group memory and rewrite history by focusing on individuals, it is limited by its male-centrism.

Variation Characteristics of Wave Field around Three-Dimensional Low-Crested Structure (3차원저천단구조물(LCS) 주변에서 파동장의 변동특성)

  • In recent years, countries like Europe and Japan have been involved in many researches on the Low-Crested Structure (LCS) which is the method to protect beach erosion and it is regarded as an alternative to the submerged breakwaters, and compiled its results and released the design manual. In the past, studies on LCS have focused on two-dimensional wave transmission and calculating required weight of armor units, and these were mainly examined and discussed based on experiments. In this study, three-dimensional numerical analysis is performed on permeable LCS. The open-source CFD code olaFlow based on the Navier-Stokes momentum equations is applied to the numerical analysis, which is a strongly nonlinear analysis method that enables breaking and turbulence analysis. As a result, the distribution characteristics of the LCS such as water level, water flow, and turbulent kinetic energy were examined and discussed, then they were carefully compared and examined in the case of submerged breakwaters. The study results indicate that there is a difference between the flow patterns of longshore current near the shoreline, the spatial distribution of longshore and on-offshore directions of mean turbulent kinetic energy in case of submerged breakwaters and LCS. It is predicted that the difference in these results leads to the difference in sand movement.
