Listening Decision Aid Simulator for Whistle Sound-Related Collision Accidents

  • This paper describes Listening Decision Aid Simulator (LDAS) to provide a decision-supporting tool that can reproduce real-like listening situations focused on the duty officer's two ears. The sound propagation mechanism from a whistle to listener's two ears is established at first, and the spatial transfer coefficients of a bridge door are measured at training vessel. Then, the construction works with the spatial transfer coefficients and its evaluation experiments with five collision accidents are carried out. As results from tests, the five cases can be judge by LDAS; it led to the insight of practical use of LDAS as one of the decision supporting system in collision accidents.

  • The paper is the second part on the 3-D sound-field creation implementing the Virtual Reality Ship Handling Simyulator(VRSHS). As mentioned in the previous part Ⅰ, the spatial impression, which arose from reproduced 3-D sound-field , give natural sound environmental context to a listener. This spatial impression is due to the reverberation by reflections and ,is can be obtain by using Head-Related Transfer Function(HRTF). In this work, we foumulate early and late reverberation models of the HRTF's with theoretical control factors based on the sound-energy distribution in an irregularly shaped enclosures. Using the reverberation models, we report results from psychophysical tests used to asses the validity of the proposed 3-D soud-field control method.

  • Spatial control of sound is essential to deliver better sound to the listener's position in space. As it can be experienced in many listening environments, the quality of sound can not be manifested over every position in a hall. This motivates us to control sound in a region we select. The primary focus of the developed method has to do with the brightness and contrast of acoustic image in space. In particular, the acoustic brightness control seeks a way to increase loudness of sound over a chosen area, and the contrast control aims to enhance loudness difference between two neighboring regions. This enables us to make two different kinds of zone - the zone of quiet and the zone of loud sound - at the same time. The other perspective of this study is on the direction of sound. It is shown that we can control the direction of perceived sound source by focusing acoustic energy in wavenumber domain. To begin with, the proposed approaches are formulated for pure-tone case. Then the control methods are extended to a more general case, where the excitation signal has broadband spectrum. In order to control the broadband signal in time domain, an inverse filter design problem is defined and solved in frequency domain. Numerical and experimental results obtained in various conditions certainly validate that the acoustic brightness, acoustic contrast, direction of wave front can be manipulated for some finite region in space and time.

이어도 주변해역에서 수중음속의 시공간적 변동성 (Temporal and Spatial Variability of Sound Speed in the Sea around the Ieodo)

  • The impact of sound speed variability in the sea is the very important on acoustic propagation for the underwater acoustic systems. Understanding of the temporal and spatial variability of ocean sound speed in the sea around the Ieodo were obtained using oceanographic data (temperature, salinity). from the Korea Oceanographic Data Center, collected by season for 17 years. The vertical distributions of sound speed are mainly related to seasonal variations and various current such as Chinese coastal water, Yellow Sea Cold Water (YSCW), Kuroshio source water. The standard deviations show that great variations of sound speed exist in the upper layer and observation station between 16 and 18. In order to quantitatively explain the reason for sound speed variations, Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) analysis was performed on sound speed data at the Line 316 covering 68 cruises between 2002 and 2018. Three main modes of EOFs respectively revealed 55, 29, and 5% the total variance of sound speed. The first mode of the EOFs was associated with influence of surface heating. The second EOFs pattern shows that contributions of YSCW and surface heating. The first and second modes had seasonal and inter-annul variations.

입체음향효과 향상을 위한 스테레오-10.2채널 블라인드 업믹스 기법 (Stereo-10.2Channel Blind Upmix Technique for the Enhanced 3D Sound)

  • 본 논문에서는 입체음향효과의 향상을 위한 스테레오-10.2채널의 블라인드 업믹스 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 최근에, 소비자들은 더 나은 입체음향효과나 3D 사운드를 즐기길 원하고 다양한 멀티채널 포맷의 등장으로 업믹스 알고리즘들이 연구 되어 왔다. 그러나 기존의 업믹스 알고리즘들은 공간정보를 왜곡하는 문제점을 가지고 있었다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기위해 전 후방 채널에 대한 이득 조절 및 10.2 채널의 각 채널별 믹싱 알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존의 상용화된 멀티채널 업믹스 알고리즘들과의 주관적 평가 실험결과 제안한 알고리즘은 입력신호의 공간정보를 유지하면서 입체음향효과를 향상시킨 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 이 연구에서는, 반사 음파 전달 특성에 의한 공간감 효과를 이용하여 음상 정위를 개선할 수 있는 HRTF 모델링 방법을 제안하였다. 실험 결과, 최적으로 평가된 반사 음파 전달 특성을 갖는 HRTF 모델은, 직접 음파 전달 특성만으로 구성된 HRTF 모델과 비교하여 음상 전위가 약 23% 이상 개선되었다. 그리고, 적절한 공간감이 음상 정위의 정확도를 증가시킬 수 있는 요소임을 알았다.

  • 본 논문에서는 가상환경에 위치한 청취자의 움직임에 대응하여 실시간으로 6DoF 공간음향을 제공하는 공간음향 렌더링 시스템에 대해 소개한다. 본 시스템은 MPEG-I Immersive Audio CfP 대응을 위하여 MPEG-I AEP를 개발환경으로 사용하여 구현되었으며 인코더와, 디코더를 포함하는 렌더러로 구성된다. 인코더는 인코더 입력 포맷(EIF) 파일에 포함된 가상공간 장면의 공간적 오디오 파라미터와, SOFA 파일로 제공되는 음원의 지향성 정보 등의 메타데이터를 오프라인으로 부호화하여 비트스트림으로 전달하는 역할을 하며, 렌더러는 전달된 비트스트림을 수신하여 청취자의 위치에 따라 실시간으로 6DoF 공간음향 렌더링을 수행한다. 개발된 렌더링 시스템에 적용한 주요 공간음향 처리 기술로는 음원 효과 및 장애물 효과 처리 기술이 있으며, 그 외 시스템 동작에 필요한 기술로는 도플러 효과 및 음장효과 처리 기술 등이 있다. 개발된 시스템에 대한 성능평가 결과로서 자체 주관평가 결과를 소개한다.

  • Including a TV set and a monitor, personal audio system is raising a great interest. In this study, we applied a method to make a good bright zone around the user and dark zone to other region by maximizing the ratio of sound energy between the bright and dark zone. It has been well known as acoustic contrast control. We have attempted to use a line loudspeaker array system to localize the sound in our listening zone. It depends on the size of the zone and array parameters, for example, array size, loudspeaker unit spacing, wave length of sound. We have considered these parameters as spatial variables and studied the effects. And we have found that each spatial variable has its own characteristic and shows very different effect. Genetic algorithms are introduced to find out the optimum value of spatial variables. As a result, we can improve the result of the acoustic contrast control by optimum value of spatial variables.

능동 소음제어를 이용한 잔향실의 저주파 특성 개선 가능성 (Improvements of Reverberation Chamber's Performance by using Active Noise Control)

  • An active method that improves low frequency characteristics of a reverberation chamber has been proposed. Spatial uniformity of sound pressure at low frequency has been increased by applying active noise control system. The system acts as frequency selective damping materials, which decreases resonance at low frequency and leave high frequency sound field as it is. Linearity of the chamber, which is essential for sound power measurement in the chamber, is guaranteed since fixed control logic has been adopted. Simple application and tests have been done in a small sized rectangular reverberation chamber which has 400Hz cutoff, Loud speakers were used to simulate a noise source and to construct an active noise control system. The spatial distribution of a sound field at 250Hz, 315Hz and 400Hz bands has been measured before and after control. The standard deviation of sound field has been decreased from 3.4dB to 2.5dB. The results show the possibility of active control system as a sound diffuser.

오디오 핑거프린팅기반 입체음향 재현 시스템 (Audio Fingerprinting Based Spatial Audio Reproduction System)

  • 본 논문에서는 오디오 핑거프린팅 방식과 스파셜 오디오 처리 방식을 결합한 오디오 핑거프린팅 기반 입체음향 재현 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템에서는 변조스펙트럼 기반의 명확한 오디오 정점 핑거프린트를 이용하여 잡음환경에서 오디오 핑거프린팅 시스템의 검색정확도를 향상시켰으며, 메타데이터로 제공되는 스파셜 오디오 정보는 청취자에게 소리가 실제로 녹음된 공간에서 소리를 듣는 것 같은 느낌을 준다.
