Outlier detection techniques play an important role in enhancing the reliability of data communication in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Considering the importance of outlier detection in WSNs, many outlier detection techniques have been proposed. Unfortunately, most of these techniques still have some potential limitations, that is, (a) high rate of false positives, (b) high time complexity, and (c) failure to detect outliers online. Moreover, these approaches mainly focus on either temporal outliers or spatial outliers. Therefore, this paper aims to introduce novel algorithms that successfully detect both temporal outliers and spatial outliers. Our contributions are twofold: (i) modifying the Hampel Identifier (HI) algorithm to achieve high accuracy identification rate in temporal outlier detection, (ii) combining the Gaussian process (GP) model and graph-based outlier detection technique to improve the performance of the algorithm in spatial outlier detection. The results demonstrate that our techniques outperform the state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and work well with various data types.
The characteristics of neighborhood correlation images for change detection were explored at different spatial resolution scales. Bi-temporal QuickBird datasets of Las Vegas, NV were used for the high spatial resolution image analysis, while bi-temporal Landsat $TM/ETM^{+}$ datasets of Suwon, South Korea were used for the mid spatial resolution analysis. The neighborhood correlation images consisting of three variables (correlation, slope, and intercept) were evaluated and compared between the two scales for change detection. The neighborhood correlation images created using the Landsat datasets resulted in somewhat different patterns from those using the QuickBird high spatial resolution imagery due to several reasons such as the impact of mixed pixels. Then, automated binary change detection was also performed using the single and multiple neighborhood correlation image variables for both spatial resolution image scales.

Ship detection is widely used in areas such as maritime security, maritime traffic, fisheries management, illegal fishing, and border control, and ship detection is important for rapid response and damage minimization as ship accident rates increase due to recent increases in international maritime traffic. Currently, according to a number of global and national regulations, ships must be equipped with automatic identification system (AIS), which provide information such as the location and speed of the ship periodically at regular intervals. However, most small vessels (less than 300 tons) are not obligated to install the transponder and may not be transmitted intentionally or accidentally. There is even a case of misuse of the ship'slocation information. Therefore, in this study, ship detection was performed using high-resolution optical satellite images that can periodically remotely detect a wide range and detectsmallships. However, optical images can cause false-alarm due to noise on the surface of the sea, such as waves, or factors indicating ship-like brightness, such as clouds and wakes. So, it is important to remove these factors to improve the accuracy of ship detection. In this study, false alarm wasreduced, and the accuracy ofship detection wasimproved by removing wake.As a ship detection method, ship detection was performed using machine learning-based random forest (RF), and convolutional neural network (CNN) techniquesthat have been widely used in object detection fieldsrecently, and ship detection results by the model were compared and analyzed. In addition, in this study, the results of RF and CNN were combined to improve the phenomenon of ship disconnection and the phenomenon of small detection. The ship detection results of thisstudy are significant in that they improved the limitations of each model while maintaining accuracy. In addition, if satellite images with improved spatial resolution are utilized in the future, it is expected that ship and wake simultaneous detection with higher accuracy will be performed.
This paper proposes an efficient collision detection method in the dynamic spatial subdivisions for the MMORPG engine which requires realtime interactions. An octree is a suitable structure for static scenes or terrain processing. An octree spatial subdivision enhances rendering speed of scenes. Current spatial subdivisions tend to be highly optimized for efficient traversal, but are difficult to update quickly for a changing geometry. When an object moves to the outside extent for the spatial subdivisions, the acceleration structure would normally have to be rebuilt. The OSP based on a tree is used to divide dynamically wide outside which is the subject of 3D MMORPG. TBV does not reconstruct all tree nodes of OSP and has reduced rebuilding times by TBV information of a target node. A collision detection is restricted to those objects contained in the visibility range of sight by using the information established in TBV. We applied the HBV and ray tracing for an efficient collision detection.
A quick and automatic detection with no harm to the goods is very important task for improving quality control, process control and labour reduction. In real fields of industry, defect detection is mostly accomplished by skillful workers. A narrow band eliminating spatial filter having characteristics of removing the specified spatial frequency is developed by the author, and it is proved that the filter has an excellent ability for on-line and real time detection of surface defect. By the way,. this spatial filter shows a ripple phenominum in filtering characteristics. So, it is necessary to remove the ripple component for the improvement of filter gain, moreover efficiency of defect detection. The spatial filtering method has a remarkable feature which means that it is able to set up weighting function for its own sake, and which can to obtain the best signal relating to the purpose of the measurement. Hence, having an eye on such feature, theoretical analysis is carried out at first for optimal design of narrow band eliminating spatial filter, and secondly, on the basis of above results spatial filter is manufactured, and finally advanced effectiveness of spatial filter is evaluated experimentally.
Energy-resolved neutron imaging is an effective way to investigate the internal structure and residual stress of materials. Different sample sizes have varying requirements for the detector's imaging field of view (FOV) and spatial resolution. Therefore, a dual-mode energy-resolved neutron imaging detector was developed, which mainly consisted of a neutron scintillator screen, a mirror, imaging lenses, and a time-stamping optical fast camera. This detector could operate in a large FOV mode or a high spatial resolution mode. To evaluate the performance of the detector, the neutron wavelength spectra and the multiple spatial resolution tests were conducted at CSNS. The results demonstrated that the detector accurately measured the neutron wavelength spectra selected by a bandwidth chopper. The best spatial resolution was about 20 ㎛ in high spatial resolution mode after event reconstruction, and a FOV of 45.0 mm × 45.0 mm was obtained in large FOV mode. The feasibility was validated to change the spatial resolution and FOV by replacing the scintillator screen and adjusting the lens magnification.

To address unsolved issues of change detection in animated choropleth maps, we proposed the concept of 'gross change detection' and performed an experiment that empirically verifies the incidence of change blindness stems from the 'magnitude of change (MOC)', spatial distribution in animated choropleth maps. We generated experimental materials using the change-characterization arrays and the global Moran's I. Participants had 108 cases of changing maps with time duration (1 to 3 sec) and had questions. The results showed that MOC and duration affect gross change detection, but the most interesting result from our experiment was that different spatial distributions between two adjacent choropleth maps may lead the map reader to under- or over-estimate the level of gross change in the map. It implies that we should consider spatial distribution of change when we design animated choropleth maps.
In this paper, we developed a forest fire detection algorithm which uses a regression function between NDVI and land surface temperature. Previous detection algorithms use the land surface temperature as a main factor to discriminate fire pixels from non-fire pixels. These algorithms assume that the surface temperatures of non-fire pixels are intrinsically analogous and obey Gaussian normal distribution, regardless of land surface types and conditions. And the temperature thresholds for detecting fire pixels are derived from the statistical distribution of non-fire pixels’ temperature using heuristic methods. This assumption makes the temperature distribution of non-fire pixels very diverse and sometimes slightly overlapped with that of fire pixel. So, sometimes there occur omission errors in the cases of small fires. To ease such problem somewhat, we separated non-fire pixels into each land cover type by clustering algorithm and calculated the residuals between the temperature of a pixel under examination whether fire pixel or not and estimated temperature of the pixel using the linear regression between surface temperature and NDVI. As a result, this algorithm could modify the temperature threshold considering land types and conditions and showed improved detection accuracy.

The emergence of high resolution satellite images and the evolution of spatial resolution facilitate various studies using high resolution satellite images. Above all, target detection algorithms are effective for monitoring of traffic flow and military surveillance and reconnaissance because vehicles, airplanes, and ships on broad area could be detected easily using high resolution satellite images. Recently, many satellites are launched from global countries and the diversity of satellite images are also increased. On the contrary, studies on comparison about the spatial resolution or target detection, especially, are insufficient in domestic and foreign countries. Therefore, in this study, effects of spatial resolution on target detection are analyzed using the PSO target detection algorithm. The resampling techniques such as nearest neighbor, bilinear, and cubic convolution are adopted to resize the original image into 0.5m, 1m, 2m, 4m spatial resolutions. Then, accuracy of target detection is assessed according to not only spatial resolution but also resampling method. As a result of the study, the resolution of 0.5m and nearest neighbor among the resampling methods have the best accuracy. Additionally, it is necessary to satisfy the criteria of 2m and 4m resolution for the detection of airplane and ship, respectively. The detection of airplane need more high spatial resolution than ship because of their complexity of shape. This research suggests the appropriate spatial resolution for the plane and ship target detection and contributes to the criteria of satellite sensor design.
By adding user interface to the usual router, an improved functional router is implemented in this paper. Due to the massive amount of spatial data processing, spatial information processing area has been rapidly grown up in recent years based on powerful computer hardware and software development. Spatial index structures are the core engine of geographic information system(GIS). Analyzing and processing of spatial information using GIS has a lot of applications and the number application will be increased in the future. However, study on the under ground is in its infancy due to invisible characteristic of this information. This paper proposes the sub-surface fault detection system using the sub-surface layer information gathered from elastic wave. Detection of sub-surface fault provides very important information to the safety of above and sub-surface man made structures. Development of sub-surface fault detection system will serve as a pre-processing system assisting the interpretation of the geologist.
