A Study on Attitude Estimation of UAV Using Image Processing (영상 처리를 이용한 UAV의 자세 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, researchers are actively addressed to utilize Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAV) for military and industry applications. One of these applications is to trace the preceding flight when it is necessary to track the route of the suspicious reconnaissance aircraft in secret, and it is necessary to estimate the attitude of the target flight such as Roll, Yaw, and Pitch angles in each instant. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating in real time the attitude of a target aircraft using the video information that is provide by an external camera of a following aircraft. Various image processing methods such as color space division, template matching, and statistical methods such as linear regression were applied to detect and estimate key points and Euler angles. As a result of comparing the X-plane flight data with the estimated flight data through the simulation experiment, it is shown that the proposed method can be an effective method to estimate the flight attitude information of the previous flight.

  • The railway system is an interface industry that can be safely operated by organically operating the lines, vehicles, controls, etc. Various data are generated in the operation and maintenance activities of the railway system. These data are utilized in cooperation with safety and maintenance activities in each field, but amount of data is insufficient for data analysis of safety management due to relevant data being produced without any synchronous criteria such as time or space. In particular, reference data such as location and time of failure data for each field are set to different criteria according to the work characteristics in each field. So, it is not easy to analyze data integrally based on location and time. Therefore, mapping of reference data can be required for integrated analysis of data defined in different formats. By selecting data mapping tools and verifying the results of safety relevant data with the same criteria, the purpose of this paper is to enable integrated analysis of railway safety management data occurring in different fields based on location and time.

Information Transfer Method of Dangerous Road Condition (도로 위험 상황의 전송 방법)

  • Developed safety system which transfers danger information to rear cars for accident prevention when drivers detect a accident, a dropping or a freezing during driving on the high way. To prevent an accident, each vehicles mount OBU which is made up of a GPS unit and a transmitter-receiver and the trace of road is always renewed and saved in OBU per a regular past distance. When the driver see dangerous situation, transfer a danger pattern and a trace information by pressing button. All cars which receive information compare the received data with the original data. And then, only cars which are located at the rear in a regular distance respond and occur a warning. Performed a road test at the rate of $30{\sim}50$ kilometer a hour using two test cars which saved about 120meter's space between them were mounted OBU which had 447Mhz transceiver. As a result of the experiment, communication between test cars had no problem. Accordingly, it can use a safety driving device because driver can notice a danger situation and set themselves ready for it using this system in advance.

  • The development of a staged combustion cycle engine with higher perfomance is essential to provide higher transport capability of space launch vehicles. The combustor head of engine has a cone-shaped head and its manifold of combustor has a very complicated structure. The head and manifold have been manufactured by casting or machining methode. Metal 3D printing technologies are recently known as one of promising methods to improve manufacturing process for them because they are possible to over come limitations of the two methods. In this paper, a selective laser sintering method is used to make test materials and their physical properties are studying by changing its operation parameters to establish the better processing conditions. It is found that the 3D printing method is acceptable to manufacturing the head or manifold of combustor for staged combustion cycle engine.

A Maximum Likelihood Estimator Based Tracking Algorithm for GNSS Signals

  • This paper presents a novel signal tracking algorithm for GNSS receivers using a MLE technique. In order to perform a robust signal tracking in severe signal environments, e.g., high dynamics for navigation vehicles or weak signals for indoor positioning, the MLE based signal tracking approach is adopted in the paper. With assuming white Gaussian additive noise, the cost function of MLE is expanded to the cost function of NLSE. Efficient and practical approach for Doppler frequency tracking by the MLE is derived based on the assumption of code-free signals, i.e., the cost function of the MLE for carrier Doppler tracking is used to derive a discriminator function to create error signals from incoming and reference signals. The use of the MLE method for carrier tracking makes it possible to generalize the MLE equation for arbitrary codes and modulation schemes. This is ideally suited for various GNSS signals with same structure of tracking module. This paper proposes two different types of MLE based tracking method, i.e., an iterative batch processing method and a non-iterative feed-forward processing method. The first method is derived without any limitation on time consumption, while the second method is proposed for a time limited case by using a 1st derivative of cost function, which is proportional to error signal from discriminators of conventional tracking methods. The second method can be implemented by a block diagram approach for tracking carrier phase, Doppler frequency and code phase with assuming no correlation of signal parameters. Finally, a state space form of FLL/PLL/DLL is adopted to the designed MLE based tracking algorithm for reducing noise on the estimated signal parameters.

  • FANET is an ad hoc network formed among the unmanned aircraft in the three-dimensional space for data transfer. Most of the research on FANET application has focused on the use of the camera sensor mounted on the unmanned aircraft to collect data from the ground, and process and delivery of the data for a specific purpose. However, the research on the fusion of WBAN and FANET that collects the data of the human body and passes through the FANET has not been studied much until now. Therefore, in this study, we study the data transmission system that collects the human body data of people working in the areas that are vulnerable to communication difficulties and passes the collected data through the FANET. In particular we analyze the possible methods to transfer the emergency data of the body in the fusion network of WBAN and FANET and provide a data transfer model that can be transmitted most efficiently.

A Hierarchical Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network Architecture Utilizing AUVs' Optimal Trajectory Movements (수중 무인기의 최적 궤도 이동을 활용하는 계층적 수중 음향 센서 네트워크 구조)

  • Compared to terrestrial RF communications, underwater acoustic communications have several limitations such as limited bandwidth, high level of fading effects, and a large underwater propagation delay. In this paper, in order to tackle those limitations of underwater communications and to make it possible to form a large underwater monitoring systems, we propose a hierarchical underwater network architecture, which consists of underwater sensors, clusterheads, underwater/surface sink nodes, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). In the proposed architecture, for the maximization of packet delivery ratio and the minimization of underwater sensor's energy consumption, a hybrid routing protocol is used. More specifically, cluster members use Tree based routing to transmit sensing data to clusterheads. AUVs on optimal trajectory movements collect the aggregated data from clusterhead and finally forward the data to the sink node. Also, in order to minimize the maximum travel distance of AUVs, an Integer Linear Programming based algorithm is employed. Performance analysis through simulations shows that the proposed architecture can achieve a higher data delivery ratio and lower energy consumption than existing routing schemes such as gradient based routing and geographical forwarding. Effect of Process Parameters on Friction Stir Welds on AA2219-AA2195 Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys (마찰교반접합의 공정변수가 AA2219-AA2195 이종 알루미늄 접합에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the optimum condition of a friction stir welding process for a joint of AA2219-T87 and AA2195-T8 dissimilar aluminum alloys. These alloys are known to have good cryogenic properties, and as such to be suitable for use in fuel tanks of space vehicles. The welding parameters include the travelling speed, rotation speed and rotation direction of the tool. The experiment was conducted under conditions in which the travelling speed of the tool was 120-300 mm/min and the rotation speed of the tool was 400-800 rpm. To investigate the effect of the rotation direction of the tool, the joining was performed by switching the positions of the two dissimilar alloys. After welding, the microstructure was observed and the micro-hardness were measured; non-destructive evaluation was carried out to perform tensile tests on defect-free specimens. The result was that the microstructure of the weld joint underwent dynamic recrystallization due to sufficient deformation and frictional heat. The travelling speed of the tool had little effect on the properties of the joint, but the properties of the joint varied with the rotation speed of the tool. The conditions for the best joining properties were 600 rpm and 180-240 mm/min when the AA2219-T8 alloy was on the retreating side(RS).

Behavior of the Segment Lining due to the Middle Slab and the Lateral Pressure Coefficient in Duplex Tunnel (복층터널에서 중간슬래브와 측압계수에 따른 세그먼트 라이닝의 거동분석)

  • We analyzed the behavior of the lining segments considering the middle slab and lateral pressure coefficients when planning the construction of a duplex tunnel for the underground network. Reviewed segment lining analysis for research, the analytical model was determined for duplex tunnel. Also reviewed the vertical load, and a load of middle slab is considered the static load and the live load by vehicles. Section force by middle slabs a load applied was mainly generated in the lower tunnel had the greatest effect on the bending moment. In addition, the bending moment acting direction changes appeared with a large variable, and the section force according to the load applied to the middle slab is relatively constant and the effect on the segment lining from the smallest section force of the lateral pressure coefficient of 1.00 was found to occur appears most significantly. As a result of this research to identify the behavior of the slab and the segment lining by the effect of the lateral pressure coefficient (K) of the duplex tunnel will be able to present a method of the duplex tunnel structure is reasonable and economical design.

Expansion of Sample OD Based on Probe Vehicle Data in a Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경의 프로브 차량 정보를 활용한 표본 OD 전수화 (제주시 시범사업지역을 대상으로))

  • Information collection systems and applications in a ubiquitous environment has emerged as a leading issue in transportation and logistics. A productive application example is a traffic information collection system based on probe vehicles and wireless communication technology. Estimation of hourly OD pairs using probe OD data is a possible target. Since probe OD data consists of sample OD pairs, which vary over time and space, computation of sample rates of OD pairs and expansion of sample OD pairs into static OD pairs is required. In this paper, the authors proposed a method to estimate sample OD data with probe data in Jeju City and expand those into static OD data. Mean absolute percentage difference (MAPD) error between observed traffic volume and assigned traffic volume was about 22.9%. After removing abnormal data, MAPD error improved to 17.6%. Development of static OD estimation methods using probe vehicle data in a real environment is considered the main contribution of this paper.
