  • How high-mass stars form is currently unclear. Calculations suggest that the radiation pressure of a forming star can halt spherical infall, preventing further growth when it reaches $10M_{\odot}$. Two major theoretical models on the further growth of stellar mass have been proposed. One model suggests the merging of less massive stellar objects, and the other is through accretion, but with the help of a disk. Inflow motions are key evidence for how forming stars gain further mass to build up massive stars. Recent developments in technology have boosted the search for inflow motion. A number of high-mass collapse candidates were obtained with single dish observations, and mostly showed blue profiles. Infalling signatures seem to be more common in regions which have developed radiation pressure than in younger cores, which is the opposite of the theoretical prediction and is also very different from observations of low mass star formation. Interferometer studies so far confirm this tendency with more obvious blue profiles or inverse P Cygni profiles. Results seem to favor the accretion model. However, the evolution of the infall motion in massive star forming cores needs to be further explored. Direct evidence for monolithic or competitive collapse processes is still lacking. ALMA will enable us to probe more detail of the gravitional processes.

  • We present [$Fe\;{\small{II}}$] ${\lambda}1.257{\mu}m$ spectra toward the interacting binary UY Aur with 0".14 angular resolution, obtained with the Near infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) combined with the adaptive optics system Altair of the GEMINI observatory. In the [$Fe\;{\small{II}}$] emission, UY Aur A (primary) is brighter than UY Aur B (secondary). The blueshifted and redshifted emission between the primary and secondary show a complicated structure. The radial velocities of the [$Fe\;{\small{II}}$] emission features are similar for UY Aur A and B: ${\sim}-100km\;s^{-1}$ and ${\sim}+130km\;s^{-1}$ for the blueshifted and redshifted components, respectively. Considering the morphologies of the [$Fe\;{\small{II}}$] emissions and bipolar outflow context, we concluded that UY Aur A drives fast and widely opening outflows with an opening angle of ${\sim}90^{\circ}$ while UY Aur B has micro collimated jets.

  • We carried out near-IR photometric and optical spectroscopic observations of V582 Aur, which is a FU Orionis type object, to investigate any periodic and/or aperiodic variations. We obtained light curves on the scale of a night and a year, in J, H and Ks bands with KASINICS (KASI Near Infrared Camera System) attached to the BOAO (Bohyun-san Optical Astronomy Observatory) 1.8-m reflector in Youngcheon, South Korea and examined photometric variations on the two time scales. So far we have not found any periodic brightness variations on the scale of a night. On the other hand, we have found that there seems to be a periodic brightness variation with a period of approximately 45 days. In addition, high-resolution optical spectroscopic observations of V582 Aur were performed from February 2013 to May 2014 with the high-resolution echelle spectrograph BOES attached to the BOAO 1.8-m reflector. We analyzed several spectral lines to understand the physical state of V582 Aur. The P Cyg profiles are clearly shown in the $H{\alpha}$ line and Na I D line.

  • Several entomopathogenic fungi have been exploited to be developed into biological control agents in insect pest management. The beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua, is a serious insect pest infesting various crops, but not effectively controlled by commercial chemical pesticides due to its high insecticide resistance. A fungal isolate was isolated from S. exigua larvae collected from cabbage field in Andong, Korea. The fungus could be cultured in potato dextrose agar. Larvae of S. exigua injected with the cultured conidia showed a potent entomopathogenicity. To identify the fungus isolate, its internal transcribed space (ITS) and surrounding partial 18S/28S regions were sequenced. The ITS sequence was highly matched (99%) to that of Nomuraea rileyi. Morphological characters of its hyphae and conidia were well fit to those of known N. rileyi. This study reports the first record of an entomopathogenic fungus, N. rileyi, in Korea.

  • We propose an improved Diffie-Hellman(DH) key agreement protocol over a radio link in peer-to-peer networks. The proposed protocol ensures a secure establishment of the shared key between two parties through distance bounding(DB). Proposed protocol is much improved in the sense that we now reduce the number of messages exchanged by two, the number of parameters maintained by four, and 2(7682(k/64)-64) of XOR operations, where k is the length of the random sequence used in the protocol. Also, it ensures a secure reusability of DH public parameters. Start after striking space key 2 times.

  • In this paper, we propose a digital watermarking method using Multi-resolution Characteristic of 2D CAT (2D cellular automata transform). Firstly, we select the gateway values to generate a basis function and the basis function transforms images into cellular automata space. Then, we embed the random bit sequence as watermark in specific parts of cellular automata transform coefficients. The proposed method not only verifies higher fidelity than the existing method but also stronger stability on JPEG lossy compression, filtering, sharpening and noise through tests for robustness. Moreover, the proposed scheme allows only one 2D CAT basis function per gateway value. Since there are $2^{96}$ possible gateway values.

  • In this paper, we present a snake-based scheme for tracking object contour using disparity information taken from a stereo image sequence with cluttered background. The proposed method is composed of two steps. First, 3-D motion of object is estimated and candidate snake points are selected in disparity space. Second, object contour is extracted by using a modified snake algorithm with disparity information. The proposed algorithm can successfully extract the concave contour of objects and track the object contour in complex image. Performance of the proposed algorithm has been verified by simulation.

  • For real-time recognizing of the load vehicles a new Neural Network algorithm is proposed. The proposed neural network technique is the real time computation method through the inter-node diffusion. In the network, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a Processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of vehicles, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through severa simulation experiments, real time reconstruction nonlinear image information is Processed. 1-D hardware has been composed and various experi with static and dynamic signals have implemented.

  • We devised a method to control the temperature of a liquid bath as low as $-100^{\circ}C$ using the duty cycle control of a solenoid valve. The solenoid valve controls the flow of liquid nitrogen that we used as a cryogen in this system. By controlling the duty cycle of a solenoid valve using feedback from the measured temperature of the liquid bath, we were able to achieve temperature stability within ${\pm}19mK$ around $-100^{\circ}C$. We also demonstrated that by taking average values of the temperature readings for sequence of measurements from more than one thermometer, it is possible to use this system for the calibration of thermometers within 3 mK. This system and the control method can be used for the precise temperature control in the range between $0^{\circ}C$ and $-100^{\circ}C$, where commercially available precision baths are much expensive and hard to be built in customized configurations.

  • The proposed flood forecasting system combines a flood routing model with a parameter estimation model. In the parameter estimation model system states and parameters are treated with the extended state-space formulation. The extended Kalman filter is adopted to estimate the states and parameters. A sensitivity analysis is used to investigate the relative significance of the parameters. Insensitive parameters are treated as constants and parameters that are mutually correlated are combined in a simplified form. The developed estimation methodology is applied todam sites of the multi-purpose reservoirs in Korea. The forecasted hydrographs from the extended Kalman filter satisfactorily coincide with the observed. From the time sequence plots of estimated parameters, it is found that the storage coefficient is almost constant, but exponent varies appreciably in time.
