A CubeSat platform has become a popular choice due to inexpensive commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and low launch cost. However, it requires more power-efficient and higher-data rate downlink capability for space applications related to remote sensing. In addition, the platform is limited by the size, weight and power (SWaP) constraints as well as the regulatory issue of licensing the radio frequency (RF) spectrum. The requirements and limitations have put optical communications on promising alternatives to RF communications for a CubeSat platform, owing to the power efficiency and high data rate as well as the license free spectrum. In this study, we analyzed the performance of optical downlink communications compatible with CubeSat platforms in terms of data rate, bit error rate (BER) and outage probability. Mathematical models of BER and outage probability were derived based on not only the log-normal model of atmospheric turbulence but also a transmitter with a finite extinction ratio. Given the fixed slot width, the optimal guard time and modulation orders were chosen to achieve the target data rate. And the two performance metrics, BER and outage data rate, were analyzed and discussed with respect to beam divergence angle, scintillation index and zenith angle.

It is high level of management activity for the fixed property of building to operating spaces for education in university campus. Therefore, this study is focused on definition of the factors for analyzing the actual conditions of space operation and application of them to C university campus in Gyeongbuk in the aspect of infrastructure of university and efficiency of space operation. These analytical factors are the rate of lecture and experimentation room, the rate of theoretical and experimental subject in curriculum and unit area for infrastructure and the rate of use, turnover rate and occupation rate per lecture for space operation. If the analytical factors of space operation are systemized as program module for space operation, the space management system of university campus will be characterized on the foundation of university information system. And it will be able to support the decision making about space management. It needs to integrate various type of information and data of university to increase the efficiency of decision making.
We investigate a relative contribution from short to long-term flaring rate to predicting M and X-class flare probabilities. In this study, we consider magnetic parameters summarizing distribution and non-potentiality by Solar Dynamics Observatory/Helioseimic and Magnetic Imager and flare list by Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites. A short-term rate is the number of major flares that occurred in an given active region (AR) within one day before the prediction time. A mid-term rate is a mean flaring rate from the AR appearance day to one day before the prediction time. A long-term rate is a rate determined from a relationship between magnetic parameter values of ARs and their flaring rates from 2010 May to 2015 April. In our model, the predicted rate is given by the combination of weighted three rates satisfying that their sum of the weights is 1. We calculate Brier skill scores (BSSs) for investigating weights of three terms giving the best prediction performance using ARs from 2015 April to 2018 April. The BSS (0.22) of the model with only long-term is higher than that with only short-term or mid-term. When short or mid-term are considered additionally, the BSSs are improved. Our model has the best performance (BSS = 0.29) when all three terms are considered, and their relative contribution from short to long-term rate are 19%, 23%, and 58%, respectively. This model seems to be more effective when predicting active solar ARs having several major flares.

Telemetry link requires high data rate to transmit the multimedia data for lunar explorations in space communications. In this paper, we analyze a data rate with the modulation and channel coding schemes based on Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) in S, X, Ku and Ka bands, respectively. Then, we suggests modulation and channel coding schemes to meet the link margins and have a maximum data rate for lunar explorations in telemetry links.
This is an attempt to improve a formula to predict variations of geomagnetic storm indices (Dst) from solar wind parameters. A formula which is most widely accepted was given by Burton et al. (1975) over 30 years ago. Their formula is: dDst*/dt = Q(t) - Dst*(t)/$\tau$, where Q(t) is the Dst injection rate given by the convolution of dawn-to-dusk electric field generated by southward solar wind magnetic field and some response function. However, they did not clearly specify the response function. As a result, misunderstanding seems to be prevailing that the injection rate is proportional to the dawn-to-dusk electric field. In this study we tried to determine the response function by examining 12 intense geomagnetic storms with minimum Dst < -200 nT for which solar wind data are available. The method is as follows. First we assume the form of response function that is specified by several time constants, so that we can calculate the injection rate Q1(t) from the solar wind data. On the other hand, Burton et al. expression provide the observed injection rate Q2(t) = dDst*/dt + Dst*(t)/$\tau$. Thus, it is possible to determine the time constants of response function by a least-squares method to minimize the difference between Q1(t) and Q2(t). We have found this simple method successful enough to reproduce the observed Dst variations from the corresponding solar wind data. The present result provides a scheme to predict the development of Dst 30 minutes to 1 hour in advance by using the real time solar wind data from the ACE spacecraft.
This research is the trial for the computation of the ease-rate for the bodice pattern. The result of the analysis about the cross section figures of garment space by using a 3-D measuring instrument is that: The garment space of each bodice by each body size is definite. In the figure of cross section of the basic lines, an area of cross section of garment space and length of cross section of garment space are not increased in proportion to an area of cross section of the body. The ease rate is the same no matter that flat-rate of the body is same or different. The ease-rate is computed by length of cross section of garment space that is in proportion to the radius of the body.
In this study, the space gamma dose rates in the apartments structured with concrete were measured in accordance with construction year. In addition, the environmental radiation rates coming from the subway platforms and the road tunnels were analyzed in the equivalent dose by multiplying the absorbed dose with the radiation weighting factors. The space gamma dose rates measured in apartments were higher than those of outdoor which was $0.08{\sim}0.11uSv/h$ in the natural conditions. Especially, the older construction year is, the higher becomes space gamma dose rate. The average gamma dose rates in the subway platforms were measured. In the case of Busan and Daegu subway, the earlier the opening year is, the higher becomes dose rate. However, the dose rates of Seoul subway Lines were high overall, regardless of opening year. Seoul subway Line 6 showed the highest value of 0.21uSv/h. The gamma dose rate in road tunnels was higher than one of the outdoor and increased with opening year like as apartment. In dose rate comparison of the concrete structures with the outdoor, therefore, the space gamma dose rate of indoor is higher than one of the outdoor and the older structures have a higher dose rate.

Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) has been operating SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) system with 2kHz repetition rate for satellite precise orbit and spin determination as well as space geodesy. But the SLR system was improved to be capable of laser ranging with high repetition rate, up to 10kHz by developing new operation software and novel range gate generator, called HSLR-10. The HSLR-10 will contribute to the accurate spin rate determination of geodetic satellites and geodetic research due to its largest repetition rate in the world. In this study, the development methodology and configuration of operation software are addressed, and its validation results are also presented.

In this paper, the hybrid state space self-tuning control technique Is studied within the framework of fuzzy systems and dual-rate sampling control theory. We show that fuzzy modeling techniques can be used to formulate chaotic dynamical systems. Then, we develop the hybrid state space self-tuning fuzzy control techniques with dual-rate sampling for digital control of chaotic systems. An equivalent fast-rate discrete-time state-space model of the continuous-time system is constructed by using fuzzy inference systems. To obtain the continuous-time optimal state feedback gains, the constructed discrete-time fuzzy system is converted into a continuous-time system. The developed optimal continuous-time control law is then convened into an equivalent slow-rate digital control law using the proposed digital redesign method. The proposed technique enables us to systematically and effective]y carry out framework for modeling and control of chaotic systems. The proposed method has been successfully applied for controlling the chaotic trajectories of Chua's circuit.
The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of the building, site, and region characteristic factors on the annual average price rising rate of apartment housing in Seoul. The data were consisted of 272 apartment units in Seoul. A survey included checking the drawing documents and interview with apartment maintenance staffs and real estate agencies from October 2006 to February 2007. Data were analyzed with descriptives, frequency, crosstabs, and linear regression by SPSS/PC for Window. The linear regression model was employed to evaluate the price rising rate in apartment housing. Following results were obtained. The price rising rate for pyeong ($3.3m^2$) of apartment housing was determinated by the district zone, the construction company's brand name, the building age, the building stories, the floor space index, the building-to-land ratio, the green space rate, and the distance from the downtown. Especially, the district zone was the most important factor that affected the price rising of apartment housing in Seoul. Therefore, the policy has to focus to solve the imbalance between autonomous districts with the collaborated tax.
