  • In a satellite gravimetry mission similar to GRACE, the precision of inter-satellite ranging is one of the key factors affecting the quality of gravity field recovery. In this paper, the impact of ranging precision on the accuracy of recovered geopotential coefficients is analyzed. Simulated precise orbit determination (POD) data and inter-satellite range data of formation-flying satellites containing white noise were generated, and geopotential coefficients were recovered from these simulated data sets using the crude acceleration approach. The accuracy of the recovered coefficients was quantitatively compared between data sets encompassing different ranging precisions. From this analysis, a rough prediction of the accuracy of geopotential coefficients could be obtained from the hypothetical mission. For a given POD precision, a ranging measurement precision that matches the POD precision was determined. Since the purpose of adopting inter-satellite ranging in a gravimetry mission is to overcome the imprecision of determining orbits, ranging measurements should be more precise than POD. For that reason, it can be concluded that this critical ranging precision matching the POD precision can serve as the minimum precision requirement for an on-board ranging device. Although the result obtained herein is about a very particular case, this methodology can also be applied in cases where different parameters are used.

  • In a game, the visual environment element is a means of expressing the intention of the developer, and is mediums that enable the player to gain to play experience of interaction. In this paper, the player's reaction to the visual environmental elements of the adventure game was patterned with a collection and analysis process by empirical experiments. The data collected through the experiment were about 10,000, and as a result of the analysis, 24 types of player reaction patterns were found in total. This can be used as a guideline for game space design by matching the properties of visual environment elements and the reactions against players occurring in the game play process to examine the play experience.

  • Recently, high-performance HMDs (Head-Mounted Display) are becoming wireless due to the growth of virtual reality technology. Accordingly, environmental constraints on the hardware usage are reduced, enabling multiple users to experience virtual reality within a single space simultaneously. Existing multi-user virtual reality platforms use the user's location tracking and motion sensing technology based on vision sensors and active markers. However, there is a decrease in immersion due to the problem of overlapping markers or frequent matching errors due to the reflected light. Goal of this study is to develop a multi-user virtual reality moving platform in a single space that can resolve sensing errors and user immersion decrease. In order to achieve this goal hybrid sensing technology was developed, which is the convergence of vision sensor technology for position tracking, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor motion capture technology and gesture recognition technology based on smart gloves. In addition, integrated safety operation system was developed which does not decrease the immersion but ensures the safety of the users and supports multimodal feedback. A 6 m×6 m×2.4 m test bed was configured to verify the effectiveness of the multi-user virtual reality moving platform for four users.

  • The information retrieval domain deals with the retrieval of unstructured data such as text documents. Searching documents is a main component of the modern information retrieval system. Locality Sensitive Hashing (LSH) is one of the most popular methods used in searching for documents in a high-dimensional space. The main benefit of LSH is its theoretical guarantee of query accuracy in a multi-dimensional space. More enhancement can be achieved to LSH by adding a bit to its steps. In this paper, a new Dynamic Locality Sensitive Hashing (DLSH) algorithm is proposed as an improved version of the LSH algorithm, which relies on employing the hierarchal selection of LSH parameters (number of bands, number of shingles, and number of permutation lists) based on the similarity achieved by the algorithm to optimize searching accuracy and increasing its score. Using several tampered file structures, the technique was applied, and the performance is evaluated. In some circumstances, the accuracy of matching with DLSH exceeds 95% with the optimal parameter value selected for the number of bands, the number of shingles, and the number of permutations lists of the DLSH algorithm. The result makes DLSH algorithm suitable to be applied in many critical applications that depend on accurate searching such as forensics technology.

  • This paper aims to examine ceramic shade prescriptions for work authorizations in all its aspectclincal information, recording information, technical considerations, extended application, practical applications. The results are as follows : 1. The basic application provides essential data for ceramic veneer fabrication. 2.Three-dimensional information divides the space for body and enamel components. 3. The second body shade selection improves shade matching in the middle one-third of the tooth and enhences the appearance of the enamel component. 4. Ceramists are encouraged to recognize the influence each component has upon the total shade composition. 5. A format is established for recording clinical information. 6. The use of available ceramic systems is seemingly unlimited. The method presented provides flexisility for recording the most detailed shade information in simple graphic and verbal terms. 7. Technical simplification is a by-product of complete, precise work information.

  • Feedback from accreting BH (AGN) is thought to be responsible for the co-evolution of BHs and galaxies. It is likely to be prominent in the most luminous dust-obscured quasars, particularly those containing radio sources too luminous to be powered by starbursts. In order to investigate the feedback mechanism in detail, we select a unique sample containing ~ 200 of the most luminous obscured QSOs by cross-matching the WISE catalog with the FIRST and NVSS radio surveys. We present overall statistics for the observed range of colors and radio/mid-IR flux density ratio. We also present our efforts to understand the physical and evolutionary nature of these extreme feedback candidates using various telescopes such as Magellan, SOAR, Herschel, and ALMA.

  • We consider multiscale mortar mixed finite element discretizations for slightly compressible Darcy flows in porous media. This paper is an extension of the formulation introduced by Arbogast et al. for the incompressible problem [2]. In this method, flux continuity is imposed via a mortar finite element space on a coarse grid scale, while the equations in the coarse elements (or subdomains) are discretized on a fine grid scale. Optimal fine scale convergence is obtained by an appropriate choice of mortar grid and polynomial degree of approximation. Parallel numerical simulations on some multiscale benchmark problems are given to show the efficiency and effectiveness of the method.

  • We propose a sliding surface design method for linear systems with mismatched uncertainties in the state space model. In terms of LMIs, we derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a linear sliding surface such that the reduced-order equivalent sliding mode dynamics restricted to the linear sliding surface is not only stable but completely invariant to mismatched uncertainties. We give an explicit formula of all such linear switching surfaces in terms of solution matrices to the LMI existence condition. We also give a switching feedback control law, together with a design algorithm. Additionally, we give some hints for designing linear switching surfaces guaranteeing pole clustering constraints or linear quadratic performance bound constraints. Finally, we give a design example in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

  • In this study, stereo vision system is applied to a mobile manipulator for effective tasks. The robot can recognize a target and compute the position of the target using a stereo vision system. While a monocular vision system needs properties such as geometric shape of a target, a stereo vision system enables the robot to find the position of a target without additional information. Many algorithms have been studied and developed for an object recognition. However, most of these approaches have a disadvantage of the complexity of computations and they are inadequate for real-time visual servoing. However, color information is useful for simple recognition in real-time visual servoing. In this paper, we refer to about object recognition using colors, stereo matching method, recovery of 3D space and the visual servoing.

  • Korean Text to Sign Language Traslator could be applied to learn letters for both the deaf and hard-of-hearing people, and to have a conversation with normal people. This paper describes some useful dictionaries for developing korean text to sign language translator; Base sign language dictionary, Compound sign language dictionary, and Resemble sign language dictionary. As korean sign language is composed entirely of about 6,000 words, the additional dictionaries are required for matching them to korean written language. We design base sign language dictionary which was composed of basic symbols and moving picture of korean sign language, and propose the definition of compound isng language dictionary which was composed of symbols of base sing language. In addition, resemble sign language dictionary offer sign symbols and letters which is used same meaning in conversation. By using these methods, we could search quickly sign language during korean text to sign language translating process, and save storage space. We could also solve the lack of sign language words by using them, which are appeared on translating process.
