  • Nowaday, almost of practical energy is come from the fossil fuel, such as coal, oil and gas those are limited and caused the environmental pollution. For these reason. solar energy is come into notice as a new alternative energy source to overcome the shortage of electricity in the $future^{(1)}$. In this paper, small PV system using photo sensor for tracking sun is developed and is verified by experiments.

  • This paper has been studied the impact of the distance between the signal source and the antenna under test on the antenna measurements such as gain and pattern (Phase). The concept and principles of the far-field in the antenna measurement are reviewed at first. The analysis on the impact has been focused on the 11 m parabola antenna system which will be used in the ground telemetry station for tracking and receiving the S-band ($2200\~2400MHz$) signal of KSLV-I. Also, the impact of the distance on the tracking performance of the antenna system has been analyzed.

  • In controlling servomechanism, such as X-Y tables, friction is one of the most significant source of tracking error. Existing friction models work well when the direction of the motion does not change. However, when the direction of motion changes such as traversing a circular profile, relatively large tracking errors referred to as 'quadrant glitches' are introduced. In this paper, a new friction model, which has a term that can compensate the effect of the quadrant glitches, is proposed. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed model are evaluated through the experimental work. The results show that the controlling servomechanism with the proposed model completely remove the quadrant glitches.

  • A technology of ultrasonic biotelemetry for tracking fish behavior is investigated. The ultrasonic biotelemetry system is constituted by a transmitter and a receiving system. Because a pinger was mainly used for the transmitter, the capability for pinger to possess was investigated and the efficient usage for pinger was examined. A source pressure level and a frequency were synthetically examined so that pinger could realize small size, a light weight, and a long life time. The receiving system is divided roughly into directional hydrophone systems and acoustic positioning systems by the receiving method. The directional hydrophone system is divided into single beam and multiple beam with the number of hydrophone, and the acoustic positioning systems is divided into LBL (Long Base Line), SBL (Short Base Line), and SSBL (Super Short Base Line) on the basis of base line. The present situation, the merits and demerits, and the principle of each receiving method were investigated in detail, and the efficient usage for each receiving method were examined.

  • In this paper, we developed not only a reliable sound localization system including a VAD(Voice Activity Detection) component using three microphones but also a face tracking system using a vision camera. Moreover, we proposed a way to integrate three systems in the human-robot interaction to compensate errors in the localization of a speaker and to reject unnecessary speech or noise signals entering from undesired directions effectively. For the purpose of verifying our system's performances, we installed the proposed audio-visual system in a prototype robot, called IROBAA(Intelligent ROBot for Active Audition), and demonstrated how to integrate the audio-visual system.

  • This paper constructed the experimental system which is able to drive in series or separately excited by switching of the field winding, using a DC motor and obtained the characteristics of efficiency with speed and torque of each motor's type through the experiment. From this result controlled drive which is able to series DCM or separately excited DCM in the optimal point of efficiency as finding the types of motor having maximum efficiency with torque and speed. By performing high efficiency tracking drive, it is expected that energy consumption of power source with limited energy density would be reduced, and so utility efficiency would be improved.

  • In photovoltaic generation, PV module is used to generate the electricity, and this system has been in limelight as nonpolluting alternative energy source. But, as energy density is low and PV module cost is high, there is a disadvantage that initial investment cost go up. In this study, we studied the method of allowing a tracker, adequate to photovoltaic generation, for Increasing the generating. We determined the proper error angle in order to decrease the repeating number of tracking without a reduction of the generating by using our developed simulator. And, we presented the photovoltaic approach tracking control and achieved its experiment. Through the result of experiment, it is expected that the fault rate and the consumption of electric power in a tracker get reduced and its cost become cut down.

  • A vision sensor measure range data using laser light source. This sensor generally use patterned laser which shaped single line. But this vision sensor cannot satisfy new trend which needs laster and more precise processing. The sensor's sampling rate increases as reduced image processing time. However, the sampling rate can not over 30fps, because a camera has mechanical sampling limit. If we use multi line laser pattern, we will measure multi range data in one image. In the case of using same sampling rate camera, number of 2D range data profile in one second is directly proportional to laser line's number. For example, the vision sensor using 5 laser lines can sample 150 profiles per second in best condition.

  • Finding sufficient supplies of clean energy for future is one of the society's most important challenges according to technologies. Alternative renewable energy source such as sun energy can be substituted for exceeding human energy need. The main factor affect to solar performance is a collective intensity. To enhance intensity, suitable equipment is a solar tracker. This paper presents design and evaluation of 1 layer polar motion control system for solar tracker suitable for building integrated system. To evaluation of tracking accuracy and adaptability, solar tracker with 64 links is implemented. In experimental results, the accuracy of tracking has under ${\pm}0.0287^{\circ}$ and the thickness has under 140mm.

  • With the high interest on robot technology and application, the research on artificial auditory systems for robot is very active. In this paper we discuss sound source localization and tracing based on audio-visual information. For video signals we use face detection based on skin color model. Also, binaural-based DOA is used as audio information. We integrate both informations using Kalman filter. The experimental results show that audio-visual person tracking Is useful, specially in the case that some informations are not observed.
