  • In a general way, Current scaling DACs are used in wireless communication systems. But there are degradations of important factors because of mismatch of current source corresponding to high resolution. To solve the problem, Calibration methods are researched lately. Mismatch of current source is corrected by Calibration method and then corrected current values are delivered to Core DAC. As a results, Degradations of important factors that produced by increment of non-linearity are suppressed by calibration method.

  • A minimally appropriate time delay of audio data processing is investigated for rendering virtual sound source direction in real-time head-tracking environment under headphone listening. Less than 3.7 degree of angular mismatch should be maintained in order to keep desired sound source directions in virtually fixed while listeners are rotating their head in a horizontal plane. The angular mismatch is proportional to speed of head rotation and data processing delay. For 20 degree/s head rotation, which is a relatively slow head-movement case, less than total of 63ms data processing delay should be considered.

상용 65 n CMOS 공정을 이용한 100~110 GHz 저잡음 증폭기와 커플러 (A 100~110 GHz LNA and A Coupler Using Standard 65 n CMOS Process)

  • 본 논문에서는 상용 65 n CMOS 공정을 이용하여 100~110 GHz에서 동작하는 저잡음 증폭기와 커플러를 구현하였다. 제작된 LNA는 3단 공통 소스 FET로 구성되었다. 단위 공통 소스 셀의 높은 이득 특성을 얻기 위해 이를 고려한 레이아웃을 하였다. 또한, 저잡음 특성과 충분한 이득을 얻기 위해 성능을 최적화시켰다. 커플러는 CMOS 공정의 multimetal을 이용한 broadside 커플러로 구성하였다. Density rule을 만족시키기 위한 metal strip을 사용해 이에 의한 영향을 고려해 커플러 동작이 가능하도록 설계하였다. 제작된 저잡음 증폭기의 측정 결과, 100 GHz에서 5.64 dB, 110 GHz에서 6.39 dB의 이득과 10 % 이상의 3-dB 대역폭, 11.66 dB의 잡음 지수를 얻었다. 커플러는 100~110 GHz 대역에서 2~3 dB의 삽입 손실, 1 dB 이하의 magnitude mismatch와 $5^{\circ}$ 이하의 phase mismatch를 얻었다.

New Blind Steganalysis Framework Combining Image Retrieval and Outlier Detection

  • The detection accuracy of steganalysis depends on many factors, including the embedding algorithm, the payload size, the steganalysis feature space and the properties of the cover source. In practice, the cover source mismatch (CSM) problem has been recognized as the single most important factor negatively affecting the performance. To address this problem, we propose a new framework for blind, universal steganalysis which uses traditional steganalyst features. Firstly, cover images with the same statistical properties are searched from a reference image database as aided samples. The test image and its aided samples form a whole test set. Then, by assuming that most of the aided samples are innocent, we conduct outlier detection on the test set to judge the test image as cover or stego. In this way, the framework has removed the need for training. Hence, it does not suffer from cover source mismatch. Because it performs anomaly detection rather than classification, this method is totally unsupervised. The results in our study show that this framework works superior than one-class support vector machine and the outlier detector without considering the image retrieval process.

잡음지수분석기의 새로운 교정방법과 잡음상관행렬 측정 (Novel Calibration Method of Noise Figure Analyzer and Measurement of Noise Correlation Matrix)

  • 잡음지수분석기의 일반적인 교정방법은 잡음전원을 이용하는 방법이다. 이 방법은 교정 시 잡음전원과 잡음지수분석기의 부정합을 고려하지 않기 때문에 측정결과에서 심각한 불규칙 리플을 동반한다. 본 논문에서는 잡음전원과 잡음지수분석기의 부정합을 모두 고려한 새로운 잡음지수분석기의 교정 및 이를 이용한 새로운 잡음상관행렬 측정방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 uncorrected 잡음전력을 이용, 교정하지 않은 잡음지수분석기의 이득과 잡음상관행렬을 결정하였다. 그리고 결정된 이득과 잡음상관행렬을 이용, DUT에 대한 잡음상관행렬 측정결과에서 잡음지수분석기의 영향을 교정하였다. 제안된 방법을 통해, 측정된 DUT의 잡음파라미터는 상대적인 잡음비를 이용한 측정 결과와 같은 정도의 불규칙 리플을 보였다.

Doppler effect on Matched Field Processing in Ocean Acoustics

  • Matched field localization schemes often show a high sensitivity to acoustic variabilities due to mismatch between assumed and actual environments. In this paper, we focus on the effect of source motion or Doppler on matched field processing (MEP). to accomplish this, MFP is extended to treat a moving source problem with normal mode description of the sound field. the extension involves both the temporally nonstationary and spatially inhomogeneous nature of the sound field generated by a time-harmonic point source moving uniformly in a stratified oceanic waveguide. It is demonstrated that the impact of source motion can be significant to MEP although the velocity of a moving source is much smaller than the sound velocity of the oceanic waveguide. In addition, a criteria for minimizing the effect of Doppler on MFP is discussed.

Bit Error Characteristics of Passive Phase Conjugation Underwater Acoustic Communication Due to a Drifting Source

  • Experimental work in underwater acoustic communications using passive phase conjugation has shown that the demodulation error depends on the relative drift rate between the source and receiver [Rouseff et al., IEEE J. Oceanic Eng. 26, 821-831 (2001)]. The observed effect involves the mismatch between the initial impulse response and the subsequent response after the source or receiver has changed locations. In the present work, the effect of drifting source is analyzed by numerical simulations and compared to the experimental results. The communications bit error rate is qualified as a function of drift rate, drifting direction, and source-receiver range.

Secret Key Generation Using Reciprocity in Ultra-wideband Outdoor Wireless Channels

  • To investigate schemes of secret key generation from Ultra-wideband (UWB) channel, we study a statistical characterization of UWB outdoor channel for a campus playground scenario based on extensive measurements. Moreover, an efficient secret key generation mechanism exploiting multipath relative delay is developed, and verification of this algorithm is conducted in UWB Line-of-sight (LOS) outdoor channels. For the first time, we compare key-mismatch probability of UWB indoor and outdoor environments. Simulation results demonstrate that the number of multipath proportionally affects key generation rate and key-mismatch probability. In comparison to the conventional method using received signal strength (RSS) as a common random source, our mechanism achieves better performance in terms of common secret bit generation. Simultaneously, security analysis indicates that the proposed scheme can still guarantee security even in the sparse outdoor physical environment free of many reflectors.

STT-MRAM Read-circuit with Improved Offset Cancellation

  • We present a STT-MRAM read-circuit which mitigates the performance degradation caused by offsets from device mismatches. In the circuit, a single current source supplies read-current to both the data and the reference cells sequentially eliminating potential mismatches. Furthermore, an offset-free pre-amplification using a capacitor storing the mismatch information is employed to lessen the effect of the comparator offset. The proposed circuit was implemented using a 130-nm CMOS technology and Monte Carlo simulations of the circuit demonstrate its effectiveness in suppressing the effect of device mismatch.

Adaptive Digital Background Gain Mismatch Calibration for Multi-lane High-speed Serial Links

  • Adaptive background gain calibration loop for multi-lane serial links is proposed. In order to detect and cancel gain mismatches between lanes, a single digital loop using a ${\sum}{\Delta}$ ADC is employed, which provides a real-time adaptation of gain variations and is shared among all lanes to reduce power and area. Evaluation result showed that gain mismatches between lanes were well calibrated and tracked, resulting in timing budget at $10^{-6}$ BER increased from 0.261 UI to 0.363 UI with stable loop convergence.
