Smell and sound are closely connected with our life. But there is no way to represent the exact numerical value of smell. On the contary, there is a method of represent the exact numerical value of sound. In this thesis, using and adapting this method about sound, a new method of expressing the numercal value of smell is going to be derived. These two methods are similar, but there are so many substances which emit smells and the methods of measuring the density of the substances are various according to kinds of the substances. So the new method about smell will be derived by a new idea.

영화 <성공의 달콤한 향기>의 서사는 중층적 구조를 지니고 있다. 클리포드 오데츠의 시나리오 작업에는 중심 플롯과 서브플롯을 위한 수많은 대사가 생성-분해-삭제-수정을 반복하며 이야기의 밀도를 드높였다. 그 결과, 배우가 대사를 하거나 멈출 때마다 대사를 촉발할 행동이나 사건이 발생하며 배역의 연기에 깊이와 설득력을 부여했다. <성공의 달콤한 향기>의 음악은 중층적 요소를 지니고 있다. 비(非)디제시스의 영역은 엘머 번스타인의 빅 밴드 오케스트라에 의한 관현악곡과 프레드 캣츠의 캄보 밴드에 의한 재즈곡이, 디제시스의 영역은 치코 해밀턴의 오중주단에 의한 재즈곡이 주로 담당하였다. 영화 음악의 실질적 과제는 서사적 동인의 효과를 강화하거나 보충하는 것이었고, 추가적 과제는 소격 효과와 정체 미학을 구현하는 것이었다. 이 영화의 서브플롯과 더블 사운드가 펼쳐 보이는 상호텍스트성의 가능성과 의의는 단순히 느와르 장르의 한계에 닫혀 있지 않다.

The 1960s is a decade that is marked by new concepts of art making and art appreciation. Starting from Fluxus, the new art in the 1960s such as Happenings and performance art pursued the process of art making as an integral part of artistic experience. The traditional concept of art works that only appeal to vision soon became a site of contentious experiments and innovations in which the experience of seeing is accompanied by other sensual encounters of sound, smell, touch, and taste. These attempts can be seen as a revolutionary move to restore the sense of corporeality to the act of seeing that has been disembodied by the way in which western art has built the unifying, homeogenous field of vision. This paper delves into the works of Fluxus artists - Daniel Spoerri, Ben Vautier, Alison Knowles, Ay-O, and Takako Saito - who were central figures in taking art into the new age of post-ocularcentrism. Exploring the sense of smell, touch, and taste, these artists led the viewer to participate in their art making with the incorporated vision.

It has been common since ancient times to use fashion accessories to make a positive impression on others and develop personal brands. For this manuscript, I've designed a range of personalized electronic sounds and perfume accessories that use personalized scents and sounds to create memorable experiences. These have built-in auditory and olfactory actuators that can generate unique sound and fragrance signatures from the wearer and the other party. Based on the design explorations, I also discussed the issues of design and implementation of personalized electronic sound and fragrance accessories, as well as issues and additional business opportunities for the use of these personalized electronic sound and odor accessories in everyday life.

Most of life thing including human being have tendency of reaction with inherently their own pattern against environmental change caused by such as light, sound, smell etc. Especially, a sense of direction often works as a very important factor in such reaction. Actually, human or animal lift that can react instantly to a stimulus determine their action with a sense of direction to a stimulant. In this paper, we try to propose how to give a sense of direction to a robot using sound being representative stimulant, and tracking sensors being able to detect the direction of such sound source. We also try to propose how to determine the relative directions among devices or robots using the digital compass and the RSSI on wireless network.

The purpose of this research is to examine resource characteristics affecting the overall recreation suitability of natural recreation forest. On the basis of resource-based approach, we had constructed a conceptual framework for this research and found one dependent variable of the overall recreation suitability and eight independent variables, representing characteristics of recreation resource. After questionnaire surveying of 690 visitors from 10 among 72 natural recreation forests in Korea. We have analyzed the data using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression method. We have found that 1) physical factor of recreation resources turned out to be statistically insignificant and the direction of relationship between independent variable and dependent variable is the same as that of dependent variable, 2) noise, sound and smell turned out to be the most important variable in terms of magnitude of independent variable and wild life turned out to be the next important variable, and 3) noise, sound and smell turned out to have aboutn 3.3 times greater thant that of landscape, judging from the absolute value of standardized regression coefficient. The research findings can be used for planning and designing of natural recreation forests based on recreation suitability of forest resources, and will provide pertinent guidelines for management of recreation resources of natural recreation forests. The approach and method of evaluating recreation suitability employed in this research provide us valid and reliable results and will be highly useful in other resource-based recreation development. We suggest that the differences in recreation suitability between private and public recreation forests and the relationship between user-satisfaction and recreation suitability of natural recreation forests must be examined in the future research.

The purpose of this study were to examine actual conditions of apartment residents living with their companion animals and to identify their residential stress and needs of planning elements under those conditions. Questionnaire survey was adopted in this study, and 100 cases were used for data analysis. The subjects for this study were limited to the residents breeding pets in their apartments. The results of this study are as follows: Most of the residents share their living spaces with pets together like their family without spatial restrictions. They indicated problems related to breeding pets in their residence such as walking the dog, cleaning home, leaving pets alone, noise and unpleasant smell. However, they didn't seem to be stressed a lot for their living environments. In terms of residential planning elements, floor plans for effective natural ventilation, balcony with sufficient sunlight, sound proof system, easy-maintenance interior material, unlash area, rubbish bin, mechanical ventilation and central vacuum system and safe electric outlet were highly indicated.

This research deals with the residential environment for the elderly and describes characteristics to give a positive effect on elderly's health and quality of life in Sweden. Five elderly care home recommended by a municipality staff in Stockholm are surveyed on $01\~03$ October 2003. The results of this study are as follows: 1) homelike atmosphere is regarded as a basic design concept and is applied to size, materials, scale, color, and furniture of elderly housing in Sweden, 2) regarding of the exterior features, it is similar to the ordinary house rather than institution building, 3) arrangement of spaces is planned for several small groups consisting of 6-8 residents, 4) open-space planning on public kitchen and dinning room allows residents to feel comfortable when they can hear a sound and smell a meal, 5) private flat is to provide amenities for sleeping, rest, storage, social interaction, meals, hygiene and other every activities

This study is to investigate residents' living satisfaction with high-rise mixed-use apartment complexes built in the structures of the reinforced concrete constructing and the steel framed reinforced concrete construction. The results of this study were obtained as follows: 1. Residents expressed below average satisfaction (below 3.0) with the common-area landscape and environmentally-friendly factors, children's playground and its facilities, community service for residents' by the management offices and the plan of utility. 2.According to the satisfaction of sound environment, residents of SRC group expressed above average satisfaction; it can be concluded that problems of causing noise around the residential area of the SRC and S groups were well solved in this study. However, satisfaction with the freshness of indoor air, humidity, and smell in the living quarters was rated low by the residents of SRC group. 3. High-rise mixed-use apartment complexes should accomodate families's life cycle, design an environmentally-friendly resting place in harmony with city life, and provide various communal programs for residents.
