애니메이션에서 음향의 리듬과 충실성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Rhythm and Fidelity of Sound in Animation)

  • Animation is an art, which experiences through visual and auditory sense. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the theory of film sound can be also applied to animation sound. The study also aims to find out whether the mood and feeling of animation can be influenced by rhythm and fidelity of sound. To begin with, exampled a few animations and analyzed their sound base on the theoretical background of film sound and found out that influence of rhythm and fidelity of sound in animation is much more effective than in film. To find out the relationship between the changes of the mood according to different rhythm, I have applied the various rhythms of sound in a same sequential images. Result proved that the mood of animation was changed according to different rhythms that applied to animation. sound has a great ability of delivering the mood prior to images and different sound can change the overall feeling and mood of animation. Also proved that influence of fidelity of sound is much greater than rhythms of sound, especially in comic animation.

자동차용 오디오의 실내음질 평가인자에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Assessment Factors for Car Audio Sound Quaility)

  • It is getting higher the demand on a good sound in a car. Like some other sensory qualities, achieving a good sound is still treated as a black-box followed by the individual taste of tuning engineers. This study aims to define the attributes of a good car audio sound and the assessment factors affecting the sound quality. With a variety of surveys on professional listening groups and car audio installers, 26 most frequently used vocabularies are selected as typical presentations of car audio sound quality. After repetitions of listening tests with deliberately selected test CD, pre-recorded 15 different digital car-recordings, headphones replay system, and three different listening groups, it is proved that there are at least 5 different assessment factors which significantly affect the car audio sound quality. They are high fidelity, spectral balance, tonal accuracy, sound stage and acoustic fault.

  • 스마트폰이 출시하기 전 과거 핸드폰의 음악 재생력은 아주 한정적이었기 때문에 MP3 플레이어를 필요로 했으나 스마트폰이 등장하면서 멀티미디어 재생은 필수적인 기능이 되었으며, MP3의 모든 기능이 작동하게 되었다. 그리고 하나의 기기에서 음악 및 멀티미디어 재생의 모든 것이 이루어지기 때문에 편리하지만 스마트폰의 음질 부분에 있어서의 논란은 끊이지 않았다. 본 논문은 스마트폰이 가진 음악 재생기능 중 EQ(Equalizer)를 Right Mark Audio Analyzer 프로그램을 통하여 EQ(Equalizer) 밸런스 조절을 통한 하이 피델리티(High Fidelity)에 가까운 사운드의 재생에 관하여 알아본다.

DVD 드라이브내에서 발생하는 유동소음에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Characteristic of Aeroacoustic Noise in DVD Drive)

  • This paper focuses on the numerical prediction of airflow-induced sound in DVD drives. As a first step, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is conducted to evaluate flow field characteristics due to the high-speed disk rotation, and to support the acoustic analysis. Acoustic analogy based on Ffowcs Wi1liams-Hawkings (FW-H) equation is adopted to predict aeroacoustic noise patterns. The integral solution for quadrupole volume source is included to identify the turbulence noise generated inside the DVD tray. The strength of sound pressure revel with respect to rotating speed is discussed to meet upfront demand on the high fidelity product development. The present study also focuses on the noise directivity and examines how much the sound noise is sensitive to change in rotating speed. Near-field noise is strongly affected by the flow field characteristic, which is caused by the complex shape of the tray. For a mid-field, the quadrupole noise play as a counterpart of thickness noise or loading noise, so it generates different sound noise Patterns compared with those in the near field.

스피커의 주관적 청음 평가치와 라우드니스 측정치 간의 상관 관계 (On the Correlation between Subjective Test and Loudness Measurement of the Loudspeaker)

  • 스피커의 음질에 대한 재생 성능을 판단하기 위하여 개발 및 최종 평가 단계에서 수행되는 청음실험은 시간과 경제적 문제뿐만 아니라, 평가자의 평가 능력에 따른 재현성 및 신뢰성에 많은 문제를 나타낸다. 이와 같은 이유로 스피커의 성능은 주관적 평가치 뿐만 아니라 객관적인 지표로서도 나타내는 시도가 함께 이루어져야 한다. 이를 위한 시도의 하나로서, 본 연구에서는 청음실험 및 통계 처리를 실행하여 얻은 주관적 평가 결과와 스피커 재생음에 대한 음질인자 해석을 통하여 얻은 객관적 측정 사이의 관계를 밝히고자 한다. 청음실험 결과는 분산분석법 및 Tukey의 방법을 이용한 네 단계의 통계 처리를 통하여 주관적 평가 결과를 얻고, 객관적 평가를 위해서는 라우드니스 측정을 기본으로 한 충실도 평가치 (Fidelity Rating)와 부드러움 평가치 (Softness Rating)를 제안한 후, 두 평가 결과의 상관도를 계산함으로써 타당성을 검증하였다. 본 연구에서의 방법론을 이용하면, 개발품 및 완성품의 스피커 음질 평가에 있어서, 시간이 많이 들고 비싼 주관 평가 작업이 없이도 통계적으로 안정되게 예측 평가할 수 있다고 본다.

  • 본 논문에서는 음질향상 알고리즘을 내장한 MPEG-1 오디오 디코더를 Embedded OS(Linux)기반 플랫폼에 구현하였다. 네트워크 대역폭과 저장 공간의 제한점을 고려한 MP3, AAC, OGG 등과 같은 손실 오디오 압축 코덱들은 공통적으로 고주파 대역의 정보가 손실되는데, 이러한 고주파 신호성분 손실은 결국 표준 CD음질을 가지는 오디오 신호보다 제한된 저주파 대역만을 재생할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문은 손실된 고주파 대역의 신호성분과 하모닉 성분을 효과적으로 추정 및 복원할 수 있는 음질 향상 알고리즘을 MPEG-1 오디오 디코더 내부에 각 계층 I, II, III 특성별로 최적화하여 Embedded Linux 플랫폼으로 구현하였다. 기존의 MPEG-1 오디오 디코더와의 비교 청취 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 구현된 시스템이 신호 스펙트럼 및 음질 면에서 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Because individual HRTFs (Head-Related Transfer Functions) vary from a person to a person, a HRTF database has been measured by researchers to investigate the inter-subject variation, and to generate high fidelity virtual sound image. Individual HRTFs not only vary between subjects but also vary due to wearing clothes and glasses in daily life. However, influence of different dressing condition on the measured HRTF was not sufficiently investigated. To quantify the effect of wearing clothes and glasses, dummy's HRTF is measured in an anechoic chamber with various dressing condition, and is evaluated in the sense of spectral distortion. HRTFs are measured both in the median plane and in the horizontal plane. In the median plane, under 6kHz, effect of different wearing clothes and glasses is negligible. Over 6kHz, however, effect of clothing distorts HRTF about 6dB in the sense of spectral distortion. Moreover, at high frequencies, effect of glasses is no longer negligible. In the horizontal plane, at some azimuths, even additional light cloth over the dummy can change the spectrum of HRTF (6dB spectral distortion) especially when sound source is at contralateral positions. Therefore, HRTF measurement with different wearing conditions can broaden the capability of HRTF customization whose technique utilizes a HRTF database.

  • This paper proposes new method for the enhancement of nonexistent high frequency spectral contents from low sample rate audio signal. For example, Due to the protocol constraint, the audio bandwidth of MP3 is restricted to 16Khz. Although band-restricted MP3 audio provide savings of storage space and network bandwidth, it suffers a major problem of a loss in high frequency fidelity such as localization, ambient information, and bright nature of audio. This paper provides a new mathematical analysis for the adaptive estimation of the high frequency contents based on the nature of the input low sample rate audio. Proposed method can be worked globally to any kind of audio such as speech and music that are restricted by sampling rate and bandwidth.
