  • Ship radiated noise is an infortant parameter which dtermines Anti Submarine Warfare(ASW) countermeansure or passive Sonar detection and classification performance. Its measurement should be performed under controlled ocean acoustic environment. In data reduction of the measured data from hydrophone array, theeffect fo ambient noise, surface reflection and bottom reflection etc. should be compensated to obtain the source level of the ship radiated noise. This study describes the measurement hydrophone array design criteria based on the analysis of transimission anomaly due to the surface reflection.

  • 공조덕트계에 소음 챔버를 설치하여 발생되는 음향투과손실을 유한요소법에 의하여 산출하는 방법을 검토하였다. 여기서는 음장내의 네트음향인텐시티를 입사파와 반사파의 인텐시티로 분리하므로서 투과손실의 산출을 가능하게 하였다. 산출방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 형상과 내부흡음조건이 다른 소음챔버를 대상으로 수치해석과 모형실험을 실시한 결과, 양자는 잘 일치하였다.

  • Characteristics of the local vibration modes of an aluminium extruded panel are investigated by the finite element analysis and modal testing. Practical methods to increase the damping of the local resonances are proposed. Effects by filling urethan foam in the core cavity and by coating tar on the panel surface are compared by experiments. Modified panel structures to shift the local resonance frequency band are proposed. The results of the study are utilized to predict the severe local resonances in the aluminium extruded panels and prevent their undesirable effect on the sound insulation.

  • A proform for engine valve was designed by finite element method. In the preform design of engine valve, various initial billets are simulated for better preform to get sound final product. Here a preform is design to get desirable metal flow in the forming so that the final product has more uniform strain distribution. after forming. The analysis of the micro-structure of the value formed through the designed process was also performed and result was compared with that of simulation.

  • Auditory system is separated to Outer Ear, Middle Ear and Inner Ear, Middle Ear plays an important role as the sound transfer on amplitude. With analysing of Middle Ear, we can understand disease and compare unformal auditory systems. However, the investigation of mechanical modeling and analysis have been reported in a few paper. In this paper, a three dimensional Eardrum model of human ear was developed and analysed applying the general purpose Finite-Element program (Nastran). Vibration patterns of the eardrum obtained from FEM analysis are in agreements with the experimental results using stroboscope.

  • This paper presents the prediction of microstructure of Inconel 718 disk forgings. The experiments are carried out to examine the recrystallization ratio and grain growth in the forgings. In the experiments, cylindrical billets are forged by two operations with variations of forging temperature and reduction ratio of deformation. Also the finite element program, developed here for the prediction, is used for the analysis, and the results are compared with the experimental ones. It is noted that the comparison appears in sound agreement.

  • In order to apply for pickling line in cold rolling process, a high power magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducer was developed. The transducer is expected to overcome the shortcomings of conventional high power ultrasonic transducers. The transducer consists of Fe-Co-V alloy sheets for the magnetostrictive material, an ultrasonic horn made of Hastelloy to withstand acid solution, and electric driving circuit. In the development, the transducer was designed with the theoretical and numerical methods such as finite element method, and was characterized with experimental water tanks.   • Typical analytical tools in noise level estimation are using BEM and Ray Acoustics for acoustic field.0 this paper, application of both approaches have been examined for the prediction on the exterior surface of railway vehicles. Advantages and disadvantages of the tool have been also evaluated. The result shows that sound understanding of the analytical tools for noise evaluation is necessary.

  • In this paper, a longitudinal die insert fracture which occurred during cold forging of a high strength ball-stud with a sound die design nearly optimized empirically for relatively low strength material of SCM435 is introduced and the reason is revealed. A comparative study between SCM435 and ESW105 is quantitatively made using a thermoelastic finite element method for die structural analysis coupled with a forging simulator theoretically based on a rigid-plastic finite element method. It has been shown that the longitudinal die insert fracture caused from non-optimized value of shrink fit, emphasizing that the die optimal design is inevitable for cold forging of high strength materials.

  • This paper investigates the use of boundary element method(BEM) to analyze the insertion loss of a noise barrier. To begin with the validity of the BEm for the analysis of noise barrier insertion loss in checked by both Lam's theoretical method and the measurements in the anechoic chamber for the scale-down models. Through simulation it is shown that using 2D BEM model is sufficient to the analysis for the barrier with large ratio of length to height. By using 2D BEM model the insertion loses are predicted for the real noise barriers in several cases which are the case that they are built parallel on both roadsides the one that there are multiple sound sources and the one that there is a gap between a concrete structure and a barrier plate.
