The preventive effect of Sosiho-Tang extract administered concurrently with methionine on hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachoride (20% $CCl_4$ in olive oil, 5 ml/kg) in rats was studied. S-GOT values were decreased significantly by the concurrent administration of Sosiho-Tang extract 100 mg/kg with methionine 100 mg/kg and also Sosiho-Tang 200 mg/kg with methionine 100 mg/kg. S-GPT values were decreased remarkably by the concurrent administration of Sosiho-Tang extract 200 mg/kg with methionine 100 mg/kg. In histological observations, the pattern of the contrast group indicated the marked necrosis of the parenchymatous cells around the centrilobular area and the fatty changes of the hepatic cells around the midzonal area, but the concurrent administration of Sosiho-Tang extract 200 mg/kg and methionine 100 mg/kg revealed better improvements than their respective single administration in all pathological aspects.

Introduction: We describe the effects of Sosiho-tang decoction and insulin combination therapy, as well as the effect of integrated traditional Korean medicine therapy, using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in a diabetic patient complaining of a range of diabetic symptoms. Case report: A 24-year-old female presented with symptoms of diabetes, including weight loss, thirst, and polyuria, and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes through blood tests, endocrine tests, and autoantibody tests. During hospitalization, the patient received insulin therapy and Sosiho-tang decoction concurrently, achieving normal blood glucose levels. After discharge, adhering to the Sosiho-tang decoction and CGM enabled the insulin dosage to be gradually reduced while maintaining normal blood glucose levels. Conclusion: Combination therapy with insulin and Sosiho-tang rapidly reduced hyperglycemia in the short term. CGM post-discharge allowed for observation of the patient's blood glucose levels. Ultimately, Sosiho-tang medication lowered blood glucose levels, reduced insulin requirements, and facilitated a reduction in the insulin dosage.

Objectives: The aim of this case report was to present the effects of Korean medicine treatment on a patient with dyspepsia symptoms like those of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Methods: A 64-year-old male patient with dyspepsia was treated with Sosiho-tang decoction, Banhasasim-tang soft extract, Gamihyangsayukgunja-tang decoction, and Kracie Sihogayonggolmoryu-tang extract, along with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and deep tissue meridian hot pack therapy for five days of hospitalization. Pain from the dyspepsia was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale and the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale. Results: Within five days of treatment, dyspepsia was relieved from a Numerical Rating Scale score of 7 to a score of 3. The European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale score increased from 0.455 to 0.816. Conclusion: These results show that dyspepsia can be relieved with Korean medicine treatment. However, further well-designed studies are required to confirm these findings.
