절화장미의 수명연장에 관한 연구는 많으나 양액재배와 토경재배된 장미의 절화수명에 관한 비교연구는 거의 없다. 본 실험은 몇가지 보존제와 채화시기가 양액 및 토양재배 장미의 절화품질과 수명에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 실시되었다. 'Rote Rose'를 1998년 5월 27일과 6월 14일 2회에 걸쳐 김해시의 농가에서 수확하여 실험실로 옮겨 45cm로 수중 재절단한 후 몇 가지 보존용액에 꽂아 $18^{\circ}C$(봄) 또는 $25^{\circ}C$(여름)로 유지되는 환경조절실에서 일일 16시간의 조명하에 완전임의 배치하였다. 사용된 보존제는 0.5% Chrysal RVB, BS(2% sucrose+200ppm 8HQS+0.3% Chrysal RVB) 및 Sonk1(BS+0.1mM ethionine)이며 대조구로는 증류수를 사용하였다. 생체중, 꽃직경, 꽃잎수, 개화정도는 재배방식의 영향을 받았다. 대조구나 Chrysal RVB에 비해 BS나 Sonk1에서 생체중, 꽃직경, 꽃잎수 그리고 개화정도 및 보존 용액소비량이 증가되었다. 대조구에 비해 절화수명은 Chrysal RVB, BS 및 Sonk1에서 $18^{\circ}C$에서는 2일, 그리고 $25^{\circ}C$에서는 1일 정도 연장되었다. $18^{\circ}C$처리에서 $25^{\circ}C$ 처리에 비해 절화수명은 3일 정도 더 유지되었다.

Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) is a common form of osteonecrosis of the knee and mainly affects the medial condyle due to localized vascular insufficiency. We report a case of SONK in a 65-year-old woman who had severe knee pain in her left knee whichimpeded her capacityto walk beyond 10 minutes. Bilateral knee X-rays revealed degenerative osteoarthritis of both knees and magnetic resonance imaging revealed R/O SONK in the lateral aspect of the medial femoral condyle, as well as a medial meniscal posterior horn root tear, and a Grade 1 medial collateral ligament injury. She was hospitalized at Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine for 21 days and receivedcombination therapy includingacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine. Patient-reported scales indicated that her pain and physical functional limitations were alleviated. Combination therapy consisting of Korean traditional medicine may bean alternative nonoperative treatment approach for patients with SONK.

Experiments were conducted to evaluate quality and vase life of cut rose ‘Rote Rose’ cultivated either in soil or hydroponically in rockwool. Rose stems were put in four different preservative solutions, 0.5% chrysal RVB, BS (2% sucrose + 200 mg. L$^{-1}$ 8HQS + 0.3% Chrysal RVB), Sonk1 (BS + 0.1 mM ethionine), and double distilled $H_2O$. Flower stems were displayed at $20\pm1^{\circ}C$, RH 60%, and light intensity of $8.1\mu$mol.$m^{-2}$ .$s^{-1}$ provided by fluorescent lamps for 16 hㆍ$d^{-1}$ Fresh weight and flower diameter during vase life were affected by cultivation method and were greater in hydroponically-grown roses than in soil-grown roses. Among preservative solutions, BS and Sonkl were superior to Chrysal RVB in terms of extending vase life. Vase life of cut rose in Chrysal RVB, BS, and Sonkl over the control was prolonged by about one day.
