대구·울산지역의 토양 중금속 오염도 평가 (Heavy Metal Concentrations in Soils of the Daegu and Ulsan Area)

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the local distribution of the heavy metal concentration in Daegu and Ulsan which were divided into the residual areas, the traffic dense areas and the industrial areas. The Inductively Coupled Plasma(ICP) was used to analyze heavy metals, such as As, Cr, Hg, Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu and minor metals, such as Fe, Si, Mg, Ca, AI, Na, K. The results of this analysis showed that the content of heavy metals which was classified by districts in Daegu and Ulsan was the highest in the industrial areas followed by the traffic dense areas and the residual areas. Compared to the level of heavy metals of national and local soil survey network in 2003, contamination of heavy metals in Daegu was lower than national average. However, the content of Cd, As, Zn in Ulsan was respectively 13.38 times, 472 times and 2.65 times higher than national average contamination. In addition, compared to the soil pollution level of the environmental protection law, contamination of all areas in Daegu was lower. But the content of As at the industrial areas in Ulsan was 10.71 times higher than standard of soil pollution and 4.28 times higher than standard of measures against soil contamination.

농경지의 토양에 있어 기생충란의 조사 (A survey of parasite eggs found in farm soil)

  • Korea Parasite Eradication Association alleged in its seasonal spring report in 1975 that 36.8 percent of primary, middle and high school students in Seoul area are infected with parasites. Such a high rate of infection is a result of having used raw excrement for manure. Soil is, therefore, to a large extent infected with parasite eggs. In order to present helpful reference materials for preventing parasite infection in the area where human feces have been used for manure, soil in Seoul area and the suburban districts is sampled at random and then the rate of infection in various areas and the variation of infection rate in the same area are studied. The results are as follows 1) The parasite infection rates the according to districts are, Sootaik-ri 39.9%, Chamsil-dong14.2%, Songpa-dong 13.2%, Sageun-dong 12.8% Chayang-dong 11.4%, Sungsoo-dong 8.5%. The above figures show that the rate becomes higher as the area is farther from the urban and residential districts and nearer to the rural area. 2) The rates of detected parasites according to their kinds are as follows Ascaridae 55.9%, Ancylostomatidae 19.9%, Trichocephalus 13.5%, Trichostrongylus 5.7%, Tenia 3.9%, Enterobius 1.1% 3) The monthly variation of infection rate in the same districts, in the case of Sageun-dong, is, August 25.7%, July 18.9%, June 16.2%, September 15.3% April 12.6%, May 11.3%. The above shows that the infection rate of soil is comparatively higher in the summer season.

  • 입상재료를 이용한 도로의 시공은 주로 다짐을 이용한다. 다짐으로 인한 효과는 흙의 강도증진, 압축변형감소, 투수계수감소등이 있다. 현재 사용하는 다짐은 주로 프록터 다짐기를 이용한 표준 및 수정다짐방법을 이용한다. 프록터 다짐기는 주로 충격에너지를 이용하여 다짐효과를 구현하는데, 이는 현장의 다짐기기에 의한 다짐조건과 상이하며, 최대건조밀도를 맞추는데 상당한 어려움이 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 선회다짐기를 이용한 흙의 다짐평가를 시행하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 현장다짐장비의 조사, 실내다짐방법의 다짐특성 평가, 현장다짐특성을 평가하여, 선회다짐기를 이용한 새로운 다짐평가방법을 제시하고자 한다.

대전광역시 관내 단독주택지역내 어린이공원에서 채취한 토양중 개회충란 오염실태 (Contamination of Toxocara canis in soil of playground in a detached dwelling area of Daejeon city)

  • In order to survey the prevalence of Toxocara cams in soil of playground in a detached dwelling area, 150 samples were taken from playground 50 unit. The survey was carried out during 3 months from July to September in 2006. The Egg of Toxocara canis were detected in 6 samples (4.0%) from 150 cases of playground. The prevalence of T canis by month was 6.0% in July, 4.0% in August, 2.0% in September, respectively. This study results suggested that the prevalence of T canis were decreased in 2006 compared to 18.5% (30 positive/162 samples) in 2000.

심해저 원유 생산용 매니폴드 기초 석션 버켓 기본 설계 (Basic Design of Subsea Manifold Suction Bucket)

  • This paper presents the design procedure of the suction bucket used to support a subsea manifold. The soil-suction bucket interaction numerical analysis technique was verified by comparing the present results with a reference data. In order to simulate the soil-bucket interaction analyses of a subsea manifold structure, various material data such as undrained shear strength, elastic modulus, and poisson ratio of soft clay in Gulf of Mexico were collected from reference survey. We proposed vertical and horizontal design loads based on system weights and current-induced drag forces. Under the assumption that diameter of the suction bucket was 3.0 m considering real dimension of the subsea manifold frame structures, aspect ratio was decided to be 3.0 based on reference survey. The ultimate bearing load components were determined using tangent intersection method. It was proved that the two design load components were less than ultimate bearing loads.

Estimation of spatial parameters to be included in 3D mapping for long-term forest road management

  • Point cloud-based 3D maps can obtain many kinds of information for maintenance work on forest road networks. This study was conducted to compare the importance of each factor to select the factors required for the mapping of 3D forest road maps. This can be used as basic data for attribute information required to maintain forest road networks. The results of this study found that out of a total of 30 indexes extracted for mapping 3D forest roads, a total of 21 indexes related to stakeholder groups were significantly different. The importance of the index required by the civil service group was significantly higher than that of the other groups overall. In the case of the academic group, the index importance for cut slope, fill slope, and drainage facility was significantly higher. On the other hand, the index importance for the forestry cooperative and forest professional engineer group was mostly distributed between the civil servants' group and the academic group. In particular, the type of drainage system showed the highest value among the detailed indexes. Overall, drainage related factors in this survey had high coefficient values. The impact of water on forest roads was the most important part in road maintenance. In addition, the soil texture had a high value in relation to slope stability. This is thought to be because the texture of the soil affects the stability of the slope.

오염 토양 정화공정에 의한 토양의 특성 변화 및 정화토의 회복기술 (Changes of Soil Properties through the Remediation Processes and Techniques for the Restoration of Remediated Soils)

  • 매년 다량 발생되고 있는 정화토가 적절하게 재이용 또는 재활용되지 못하고 반출 처리장에 적치되어 또 다른 환경적 이슈가 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용을 활성화하기 위하여 필요한 정화토의 토양 질 회복 기술에 대한 연구 및 개발 동향을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 정화기술별 토양 특성의 변화 양상을 살펴보고, 정화공정에 따른 토양 질의 열화 특성을 파악하였다. 뿐만 아니라 정화토 재이용 및 재활용을 위한 정책적 관련 사항들을 정리하고, 향후 필요한 연구들에 대하여 제안하였다. 본 논문은 국내외 관련 문헌들을 검색하여 작성하였다. 키워드 검색을 통하여 정화기술별 토양 특성의 변화와 토양 개량 및 회복 기술과 연관된 문헌을 조사하였으며, 본문에서는 주로 최근에 발표된 문헌들을 바탕으로 논의하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 제 1, 2차 토양보전기본계획을 참고하여 정화토 재이용 및 재활용과 관련된 정책적 사항들을 정리하였다. 현재까지 국내에서 가장 많이 적용된 토양경작, 토양세척, 열탈착 등을 대상으로 정화공정에 따른 토양의 특성 변화를 정리한 결과, 적용하는 정화기술에 따라서 매우 상이하게 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다. 특히 정화공정을 거치면서 토양 질이 열화되는 양상이 정화기술에 따라서 다르게 나타났다. 토양 개량 및 회복 기술은 크게 무기 개량제, 유기 개량제, 생물학적 개량제 등의 제제를 이용한 방법들로 구분할 수 있으며, 각 개량제에는 다양한 물질들이 활용되고 있고, 각 물질에 따라 개선 또는 향상되는 토양의 특성이 달랐다. 하지만, 각 정화기술별 열화되는 토양 질 회복을 위한 연구들은 현재까지 활발하게 수행되지 않은 것으로 조사되었다. 제 2차 토양보전기본계획에서는 정화토의 품질인증제, 목표관리제 등과 같은 정책적 방안이 명시되어 있음으로써 향후 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용이 촉진될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 정화토의 재이용 및 재활용을 위해서는 적용된 정화기술과 미래 용도를 고려한 공공활용성을 담보한 회복 기술들이 개발되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이와 더불어 제 2차 토양보전기본계획에서 제시한 정화토의 적극적 활용을 위해서는 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 구체적이고 세부적인 정책 추진 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

베트남 북부 네안성 뀌홉지역 희토류 광화작용 (REE Mineralization of Quy Hop Area in Nghe An Province, Northern Vietnam)

  • 베트남 북부 네안성 뀌홉지역에서 희토류 원소의 광화작용과 관련된 이상대 확인을 위해 토양지구화학탐사를 수행하였다. 시료채취 간격은 가로 250 m 13 line (총 4.2 km), 세로 300 m 25 line (총 7.5 km)으로 총 325개의 시료가 채취되었다. 또한, 토양지구화학탐사 결과를 바탕으로 총 희토류(Total rare-earth oxides, TREO) 함량이 높은 8개 격자점을 대상으로 피트탐사를 수행하여 73개의 토양시료를 채취하였다. 조사지역은 반찌응(Ban Chieng) 흑운모 화강암 복합체가 편암, 편마암, 석회암으로 구성된 부캉(Bu Kang)층을 관입하고 있다. 본 지역의 주요 광화작용은 주석, 루비, 그리고 화강암 복합체의 주변부 변질대에 분포하고 있는 것으로 사료되는 함희토류 모나자이트(Monazite)와 제노타임(Xenotime)의 산출이 특징적이다. 채취한 토양시료의 ICP-MS 분석 결과, 총 희토류 평균 함량은 지각의 총 희토류 함량(248 ppm)보다 평균 약 1.4배 높게 나타났다. 한편, 경희토류의 평균 함량은 44.6 ppm으로서 지각 평균(200 ppm)보다 결핍되어 있고, 중희토류는 평균 함량(44 ppm)이 지각평균(26 ppm)의 약 1.5배 부화되어있다. 피트탐사에서 채취한 토양시료에 대한 희토류원소의 화학성분 분석 결과, 6개의 피트에서 총 희토류 함량(TREO)이 1,000 ppm 이상의 값이 확인되었다. 이는 뀌차우(Quy Chau)지역의 탐사 및 분석 결과와 비교해보면, 북동-남서 방향으로 희토류 이상대가 발달하고 있는 것으로 사료된다.

우리나라 농경지 중금속 동태 및 작물흡수 연구동향 (Current research trends for heavy metals of agricultural soils and crop uptake in Korea)

  • BACKGROUND: Increase of heavy metals in agricultural ecosystem has become a social issue nationwide as it is related to public health. This review was performed to find out more systematic and integrated future researches on heavy metals using up to date articles published in the Korean journals related to agricultural environment. METHODS AND RESULTS: Researches on heavy metals in agricultural soils and plant uptake were categorized by the establishment of criteria, analytical methods, monitoring, management of source, characteristics and behavior in soil, plant uptake, bioavailability affecting physico -chemical properties in soil, risk assessment and soil remediation. In the early 1990s, the monitoring for heavy metals in soil has been widely performed. Accumulation of heavy metals in contaminated soil and availability to plants has also attracted interests to study the soil remediation using various physico-chemical methods. The phytoavailability and phytotoxicity of heavy metals have been mainly studied to assess the safety of agro-products using risk assessment techniques in the 2000s. CONCLUSION: Future direction of research on heavy metal in agricultural environment must be carried out by ensuring food safety and sustainability. A steady survey and proper management for polluted regions should be continued. Law and regulation must be modified systematically. Furthermore, studies should expand on mitigation of heavy metal uptake by crops and remediation of polluted fields.

Effect of cohesion of infill materials on the performance of geocell-reinforced cohesive soil subgrade

  • Adopting cohesive soil as geocell-pocket infill materials is not fully accepted by researchers in the field of road engineering. The cohesion that may inhibit the lateral limitation of geocells is a common vital idea that exists within every researcher. However, the influence of infill materials' cohesion on geocell-reinforced performance is still not thoroughly determined. The mechanism behind this still needs to be studied in depth. This study initially discussed the relationship between subgrade bearing capacity, geocells' contribution to reinforced performance, and infill materials' cohesion (IMC). A law was proposed that adopting the soil with high cohesion as infill materials benefited the subgrade bearing capacity, but this was attributed to the superior mechanical properties of infill materials rather than geocells' contribution. Moreover, the vertical and lateral deformation of subgrade, coupling shear stress and confining stress of geocells, and deformation of geocells were deeply studied to analyze the mechanism that high cohesion can inhibit the geocells' contribution. The results indicate that the infill materials with high cohesion result in the total displacement of the subgrade toward to deeper depth, not the lateral direction. These responses decrease the vertical coupling shear stress, confining stress, and normal displacement of geocell walls, which weaken the lateral limitation of geocells.
