Mountain watersheds are a lot of problems about soil erosion because of frequent wildfire occurrence. Runoff and soil erosion caused by the rain on a hillslope after wildfire are dependent on cover factor. And these has been a decrease by the cover factor recovery following time passage. The present paper defines the dynamic sensitivity of runoff and soil erosion that is the rate of runoff volume and soil erosion weight to rainfall energy and analyzes characteristics of the sensitivity for variation of cover factor, In according to the correlation analysis between other parameters and sensitivities, the sensitivity is the most dependent on the cover factor and the relation is exponential. The sensitivities after wildfire have suitable relation with treatment method for the mitigation of burnt forest and wildfire intensity. It was confirmed that the variation of soil erosion sensitivities come upon the range of stability in 5 years after wildfire.
As one alternative to alleviate damages caused by stormwater runoff, the effects of runoff quantity reduction are analyzed when porous pavement is used. Porous pavements with various depths, general pavement and an artificial rainfall generator are installed for laboratory experiments. Runoff changes are analyzed according to the various rainfall durations. The rainfall intensity of 150 mm/hr is generated for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120 minutes. For porous pavements with 80 cm thickness, 100%, 93%, 56% of discharge is infiltrated through soil, respectively. For porous pavements with 20 cm thickness, 81%, 32%, 28% of discharge is infiltrated through soil, respectively. It is found that the porous pavements are able to decrease the runoff.
In this paper, the sub-soil storage system for utilizing urban instream flow of rainfall runoff was developed and examined through experiments. The artificial rainfall facility and sub-soil storage were installed in the experimental area. The effect of the water qualify improvement and the storage effect were analyzed through the several experiments. Through the experiments of rainfall intensity variation, which are the rainfall intensity of 20mm/hr, 30mm/hr, 40mm/hr, 50mm/hr was indicated SS concentration can be reduction until 68%. Also, the ration of the storage volume is varied from 42.8%∼79.9% based on the rainfall intensity. The reduction rate of the BOD, CO $D_{Mn}$, SS, T-N, T-P was 30%, 42%, 68%, 39%, 26%. As the result, water quality of runoff and efficient of runoff reduction by the system are much improved. The rainfall runoff with the installation of sub-soil storage could be used for instream flow.
Hydrology-based topographical informations generated by GIS techniques could be changed according to the selection of base map, algorithm of extraction, and so on. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the variation of SCS CN extracted by GIS technique and to propose the effective strategy for applying GIS to the rainfall-runoff simulation in ungaged basin. For experimental implementation, GIS spatial data, such as reconnaissance soil map, detailed interpretative soil map, landuse planning map and remotely sensed data(Landsat TM), were collected and generated to calculate the amount of effective rainfall in Pyungchang river basin. In applying SCS Runoff Curve Number to the test basin, the hydrological attribute data were analyzed. In addition, the characteristics of runoff responses according to the selection of GIS spatial data for SCS CN were reviewed. This study shows the applicability of GIS techniques to runoff simulation in ungaged basin by comparing with the measured flood hydrograph. It has been found that the detained interpretative soil map and remote sensing data are appropriate for calculating of SCS CN.
The determination of soil parameters is important in predicting the simulated surface runoff using either a distributed or a lumped rainfall-runoff model. Soil characteristics can be collected using remote sensing techniques and represented as a digital map. There is no universal agreement with respect to the determination of a representative parameter from a gridded digital map. Two representative methods, i.e., arithmetic and predominant, are introduced and applied to both FLO-2D and HEC-HMS to improve the model's accuracy. Both methods are implemented in the Yongdam catchment, and the results show that the former seems to be more accurate than the latter in the test site. This is attributed to the high conductivity of the dominant soil class, which is A type.
Sediment and nutrient loading caused by the forest to conversion of agricultural lands have led to the deterioration in near water ecosystem. This study was carried out to examine the effects of agroforest culture field and open field culture field on water quality and runoff loading of nutrient. The runoff loading of Tot-N and Tot-P in agroforest culture field were similar to open field culture field. The runoff loading of total suspended solids (TSS) in agroforest culture field and open field culture field were $2,721kg{\pm}196/10a$ and $420{\pm}29kg/10a$ in 2011 and $696kg{\pm}59/10a$ and $463{\pm}36kg/10a$ in 2012, respectively. Our investigation showed that the runoff loading of TSS from agroforest culture field decreased when soil cover and soil stabilization increased. Therefore, protect facility of soil erosion for early alteration of agricultural lands are needed to minimize the soil erosion from agroforest culture field.
In this study (II), the module developed in the previous study (I) has been tested on application and numerical stability. The runoff module was compared the result of analysis with two different models (FFC2Q and $Vflo^{TM}$) considering characteristic of infiltration. To examine the application and stability of developed module, runoff aspect was simulated under the variety case of rainfall intensity, effective soil depth, elapsed time. The development module was presented typical type of infiltration process looking physically, the different of saturation point on soil type, and characteristic of soil type. Also, the module was reflected in the runoff feature about rainfall intensity and time distribution. Finally, this paper drew a conclusion that result of rainfall-runoff analysis as compared with difference models (FFC2Q and $Vflo^{TM}$) has a high accuracy.

Due to recent climate change, continuous soil loss is occurring in the mountainous watershed. The development of geographic information systems allows the spatial simulation of soil loss through hydrological models, but more researches applied to the mountain watershed areas in Korea are needed. In this study, prior to simulating the soil loss characteristics of the mountainous watershed, the field monitoring and the SWAT and GeoWEPP models were used to simulate and analyze the rainfall and runoff characteristics in the mountainous watershed area of Jirisan National Park. As a result of monitoring, runoff showed a characteristic of a rapid response as rainfall increased and decreased. In the simulation runoff results of calibrated SWAT models, R2, RMSE and NSE was 0.95, 0.03, and 0.95, respectively. The runoff simulation results of the GeoWEPP model were evaluated as 0.89, 0.30, and 0.83 for R2, RMSE, and NSE, respectively. These results, therefore, imply that the runoff simulated through SWAT and GeoWEPP models can be used to simulate soil loss. However, the results of the two models differ from the parameters and base flow of actual main channel, and further consideration is required to increase the model's accuracy.

Surface soil moisture, which governs the partitioning of precipitation into infiltration and runoff, plays an important role in the hydrological cycle. The assimilation of satellite soil moisture retrievals into a land surface model or hydrological model has been shown to improve the predictive skill of hydrological variables. This study aims to improve streamflow prediction with Weather Research and Forecasting model-Hydrological modeling system (WRF-Hydro) by assimilating Soil Moisture Active and Passive (SMAP) data at 3 km and analyze its impacts on hydrological components. We applied Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) technique to remove the bias of SMAP data and assimilate SMAP data (April to July 2015-2019) into WRF-Hydro by using an Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) with a total 12 ensembles. Daily inflow and soil moisture estimates of major dams (Soyanggang, Chungju, Sumjin dam) of South Korea were evaluated. We investigated how hydrologic variables such as runoff, evaporation and soil moisture were better simulated with the data assimilation than without the data assimilation. The result shows that the correlation coefficient of topsoil moisture can be improved, however a change of dam inflow was not outstanding. It may attribute to the fact that soil moisture memory and the respective memory of runoff play on different time scales. These findings demonstrate that the assimilation of satellite soil moisture retrievals can improve the predictive skill of hydrological variables for a better understanding of the water cycle.
The paper describes the rainfall-runoff. soil moisture distribution and subsurface flow of 'U-shaped Goll' valley head slope to evaluate quantitatively the interaction between the water circulation system and geomorphic development. The findings are as follows: The fissure and the pipe entrance in front of 'U-shaped Goll' introduce a lot of direct runoff into either the soil pipe or the soil layer to accelerate the erosion of the soil layer, so that they are likely to contribute to the expansion and development of the soil pipe. Most of soil water is to be drained in pipe flow, while some of remaining soil water is to be fed into groundwater. Therefore, low rainfall intensity is thought to let both the groundwater level and the pipe flow react sensitively by the effects of the precedent rainfall even at events: As a result, the soil pipe is said to be an important factor having influence upon the material balance of 'U-shaped Goll' valley head slope. On the other hand, the groundwater shows greater specific flux at the top than at the bottom, and relatively larger specific flux is applied to the top to make 'U-shaped Goll' valley head slope go back to the top.
