  • Our country is serious difference of precipitation seasonally and about 66% of yearly mean rainfall is happening in concentration rainfall form between September on June. It requires consideration because of a lot of natural disasters by this downpour are produced. Slope failure is happened by artificial factor of creation of slope according to the land development, fill slope etc. and natural factor of rainfall, topography, nature of soil, soil quality, rock floor. Usually, Direct factor of failure slope is downpour. In this study, the Slope about among 55 places happened failure by downpour investigated occurrence position, geological etc and executed and inquire into character of rainfall connected with failure slope. Among character of rainfall, executed analysis about Max. hourly rainfall and cumulative rainfall of place that failure slope is situated and grasped the geological character of failure slope. Through this, inquire to character of failure slope by rainfall and take advantage of basis study for Hazard map creation.

  • Soil loss is widely recognized as a threat to farm livelihoods and ecosystem integrity worldwide. Soil loss prediction models can help address long-range land management planning under natural and agricultural conditions. Even though it is hard to find a model that considers all forms of erosion, some models were developed specifically to aid conservation planners in identifying areas where introducing soil conservation measures will have the most impact on reducing soil loss. Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) computes the average annual erosion expected on hillslopes by multiplying several factors together: rainfall erosivity (R), soil erodibility (K), slope length and steepness (LS), cover management (C), and support practice (P). The value of these factors is determined from field and laboratory experiments. This study calculated soil erosion using GIS-based RUSLE model in Imha basin and examined soil erosion source area using SPOT 5 high-resolution satellite image and land cover map. As a result of analysis, dry field showed high-density soil erosion area and we could easily investigate source area using satellite image. Also we could examine the suitability of soil erosion area applying field survey method in common areas (dry field & orchard area) that are difficult to confirm soil erosion source area using satellite image.

  • This study is to estimate the spatial distribution of soil loss using the land use data produced from QuickBird satellite imagery. For a small agricultural watershed (1.16 $km^2$) located in the upstream of Gyeongan-cheon watershed, a precise agricultural land use map were prepared using QuickBird satellite image of April 5 of 2003. RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation) was adopted for soil loss estimation. The data (DEM, soil and land use) for the RUSLE were prepared for 5 m and 30 m spatial resolution. The results were compared with each other and the result of 30 m Landsat land use data.

  • This study is to suggest a methodology to produce landslide hazard map by combining LRA (Logistic Regression Analysis) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Program) Approach. Topographic factors (slope, aspect, elevation), soil drain, soil depth and land use were adopted to classify landslide hazard areas. The method was applied to a 520 $km^2$ region located in the middle of South Korea which have occurred 39 landslides during 1999 and 2003. The suggested method showed 58.9 % matching rate for the real landslide sites comparing with the classified areas of high-risk landslide while LRA and AHP showed 46.1 % and 48.7 % matching rates respectively.

  • This study is to test the applicability of QuickBird image for non-point source pollution assessment. SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model was adopted and the model was calibrated for a stream watershed of 255.4 $km^2$ Landsat land use data. For model application with QuickBird image, a precise agricultural land use map of 1.16 $km^2$ area located in the upstream watershed was produced by field investigation. The model was run with the combination of land use and soil map scales (1:5,000, 1:25,000 and 1:50,000). The results were compared and analyzed for the contribution of non-point source pollution by the land use scale and contents.

  • The feasibility of precision farming for small sized fields was studied by determining fertilizing amount of nitrogenous and calcareous to a cite specific region. A detailed soil survey at three experimental fields of 672㎡, 300㎡ and 140㎡ revealed a considerable spatial variation of the pH and organic matter(OM) levels. Soil organic matter was measured using Walkley-Black method and soil pH was measured with a pH sensor. Soil sample was obtained by Grid Node Sampling Method. The soil sampling depth was 10 - 20 cm from the soil surface. To display soil nutrient variation, a soil map was made using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. In soil mapping, soil data between nodes was interpolated using Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method. The variation was about 1 - 1.8 in pH value and 1.4 -7 % in OM content. Fertilizing Amount of nitrogenous and calcareous was determined by the fertilizing equation which was proposed by National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology.(NIAST). The variation of fertilizing amount was about 3 - 11 kg/10a in nitrogenous and 70 - 140 kg/10a in calcareous. The results showed a feasibility of precision fertilizing for small size fields.

  • Advance countries are trying hard to acquire intellectual properties on the technologies for prior occupation in the future industry. Patent contains meaningful technical achievement. Patent map is required to propose the strategies for efficient development and use of these technologies. In this paper, analysis of foreign and domestic patents for groundwater pollution technologies analysis. It was analyzed by utilizing two processes of patent map and paper analysis. The patents in Korea, USA, Japan, China, and Europe were searched. It was found that the number of patent for groundwater pollution was USA patent 44.3%, Japan patent 17.1%, China 13.3%, EU 1.9% and Korea patent 23.3%, respectively.

  • To develope SOC(social overhead capita) which constructs the railroad, highway etc., the geo-technical foundation have to be well understood for the safety works. In this paper, we selected Moonkyung area for the study area, which has various geological units and geological structure including the big thrust and fold. By this reason one of the geo-technical information is the engineering geology map. To make the map, lithology and soil distribution with drilling data are important elements. Three dimensional geo-infomation is established by fence diagram which is several geological cross sections and/or computer software 3D Geomodeller, EarthVision, GSI3D, Gocad.
