A Systematic Literature Review on SaaS: Identifying Research Trend in Korean Academia (SaaS관련 체계적인 연구문헌 분석: 국내 학술 경향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is, to analyze the recent trend of studies on SaaS(Software as a Service) in Korea and to suggest a direction for the future research. For this purpose, the relevant literatures published in Korea Citation Index and literatures presented in conferences were gathered. Among these literatures, total of 39 samples were selected and used in the systematic literature review. The result shows that the application of SaaS in actual operations of industries are widely proliferated. However, the studies on SaaS generally lacks in its number and types. For example, studies so far are only on field of engineering and technology. Considering the fact that SaaS is moving towards the service orientation, studies on SaaS should develop in the fields of policy, business, individual and society sides of studies. In addition, the existing studies uses different concepts of relations between SaaS and ASP(Application Service Provider), as well as, different definitions of SaaS. Lastly, our research analyzed the problems of utilization of SaaS and found that, the quality, performance and security are presented as the core of the problems.

Efficient Virtual Machine Migration for Mobile Cloud Using PMIPv6 (모바일 클라우드 환경에서 PMIPv6를 이용한 효율적인 가상머신 마이그레이션)

  • In a cloud computing environment, various solutions were introduced to provide the service to users such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Desktop as a Service (DaaS). Nowadays, Mobile as a Service (MaaS) to provide the mobility in a cloud environment. In other words, users must have access to data and applications even when they are moving. Thus, to support the mobility to a mobile Thin-Client is the key factor. Related works to support the mobility for mobile devices were Mobile IPv6 and Proxy Mobile IPv6 which showed performance drawbacks such as packet loss during hand-over which could be very critical when collaborating with cloud computing environment. The proposed model in this paper deploys middleware and replica servers to support the data transmission among cloud and PMIPv6 domain. It supports efficient mobility during high-speed movement as well as high-density of mobile nodes in local mobility anchor. In this paper, through performance evaluation, the proposed scheme shows the cost comparison between previous PMIPv6 and verifies its significant efficiency.

A Method for Establishment of Case-based Software Maintenance Maturity Model (사례기반의 소프트웨어 유지보수 성숙도 모델 수립 방안)

  • Software Maintenance needs to continually improve from corrective maintenance to operational management and service improvement. In this study, we propose a software maintenance maturity model and its evaluation criteria based on 4 maintenance projects of K organization. For the proposal, we derive 13 process areas and 64 evaluation criteria based on some references such as SMMM, ITSMM, ITIL. We evaluate the criteria using 5-point scale, and then establish the maturity model of K organization classified by levels of the maturity model based on the evaluation result. And, to verify and improve the maturity model of K organization, we propose improvements for evaluation criteria. In addition, we apply the maturity model to the 4 projects, evaluate the projects, and propose improvements for the projects based on the evaluation result to identify how the model shows software maintenance improvement.

  • Financial information systems play such a pivotal role in the financial institution services that are provided for a large customers on the basis of various information including the personal information. As for the personal information collected during the transactions in the financial information systems, huge efforts and investment have been made to protect previously them from being inappropriately misused or illegally used if they could be released. Unfortunately, the frequent accidents on the leakage of sensitive personal information have occurred recently not only by external service users but even by internal system users. Therefore, the aim of this study is to suggest a model of advanced two-channel authentication for internal users in order to increase the stability of financial information systems with enhanced security.

  • The evolving internet-based services demand high-speed data transmission in conjunction with scalability. The next generation optical network has to exploit artificial intelligence and cognitive techniques to cope with the emerging requirements. This work proposes a novel way to solve the dynamic provisioning problem in optical network. The provisioning in optical network involves the computation of routes and the reservation of wavelenghs (Routing and Wavelength assignment-RWA). This is an extensively studied multi-objective optimization problem and its complexity is known to be NP-Complete. As the exact algorithms incurs more running time, the heuristic based approaches have been widely preferred to solve this problem. Recently the software-defined networking has impacted the way the optical pipes are configured and monitored. This work proposes the dynamic selection of path computation algorithms in response to the changing service requirements and network scenarios. A software-defined controller mechanism with a novel packet matching feature was proposed to dynamically match the traffic demands with the appropriate algorithm. A software-defined controller with Path Computation Element-PCE was created in the ONOS tool. A simulation study was performed with the case study of dynamic path establishment in ONOS-Open Network Operating System based software defined controller environment. A java based NOX controller was configured with a parent path computation element. The child path computation elements were configured with different path computation algorithms under the control of the parent path computation element. The use case of dynamic bulk path creation was considered. The algorithm selection method is compared with the existing single algorithm based method and the results are analyzed.

  • Sensor Registry System (SRS) has been devised for maintaining semantic interoperability of data on heterogeneous sensor networks. SRS measures the connectability of the mobile device to ambient sensors based on positions and only provides metadata of sensors that may be successfully connected. The step of identifying the ambient sensors which can be successfully connected is called sensor filtering. Improving the performance of sensor filtering is one of the core issues of SRS research. In reality, GPS sometimes shows the wrong position and thus leads to failed sensor filtering. Therefore, this paper proposes a new sensor filtering strategy using geographical embedding and neural network-based path prediction. This paper also evaluates the service provision rate with the Monte Carlo approach. The empirical study shows that the proposed method can compensate for position abnormalities and is an effective model for sensor filtering in SRS.

An Adaptive Recommendation Service Scheme Using Context-Aware Information in Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경에서 상황 인지 정보를 이용한 적응형 추천 서비스 기법)

  • With the emergence of ubiquitous computing era, various models for providing personalized service have been proposed, and, especially, several recommendation service schemes have been proposed to give tailored services to users proactively. However, the previous recommendation service schemes utilize a wide range of data without and filtering and consider the limited context-aware information to predict user preferences so that they are not adequate to provide personalized service to users. In this paper, we propose an adaptive recommendation service scheme which proactively provides suitable services based on the current context. We use accumulated interaction contexts (IC) between users and devices for predicting the user's preferences and recommend adaptive service based on the current context by utilizing clustering and collaborative filtering. The clustering algorithm improves efficiency of the recommendation service by focusing and analyzing the data that is collected from the locations nearby the users. Collaborative filtering guarantees an accurate recommendation, even when the data is insufficient. Finally, we evaluate the performance and the reliability of the proposed scheme by simulations.

A Study on the Software Service Model Evaluation Methodology for Industry Convergence (산업융합을 위한 소프트웨어 기반 서비스모델 평가방법론에 관한 연구)

  • SW-based service model is considered strategic industry in the advancement of national economic development. Also SW-based service model has Public Interest and Profitability, it should be conducted assessment considering both sides of private and public reflection. To obtain the goal of this research, firstly, based on broadly reviewing previous literature and logical reasoning in business model evaluation and feasibility of public business. Secondly, derived SW-based service model's feature through a group of experts to analyze. And AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) is adopted in developing the influential factors (indexes) for the profitability of each SW-based service model and the weight score of each factor. In the result, We suggested 5 evaluation areas, and 15 evaluation items reflecting private business model, public business evaluation and SW-based service model feature. The findings of this study are thought to be useful as a practical guideline in performing evaluating the SW-based service model for private and public sector.

  • Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) System has been adopted and operated by many governments and public institutions to intensify their global competitiveness. Recently these organizations are facing many problems because of the increased demands and complexity of Information Technology (IT) service. Especially, difficulty with ITSM gets bigger and bigger because of increasing IT outsourcing. An expectation regarding ITSM is grown up when facing to solve problems. Therefore, this study suggests effective alternatives about ITSM organization structure for public sectors. The ITSM organization structures changes from traditional structures based on functions to new structures based on its goal, customer, and its process. In other words, ITSM organizational structure can be composed of Service Strategy directorate, Service Design directorate, Service Transition directorate, Service Operation directorate, and Service Improvement directorate. To ensure the effectiveness and the professionalism of ITSM in an organization, this paper specifies the roles of participants and the responsibilities for each unit. The proposed ITSM organization structures will be useful for public sectors.

A Study on the Establishment of VTS Service Area in Pohang (포항항의 VTS 서비스구역 설정에 관한 연구)

  • In world trade, the vessel traffic in major routes has been congested due to the rapid increase of cargoes and shipping tonnages. The patterns of vessel traffic have also been complicated and diversified. Therefore it was necessary that the Vessel Traffic Service(VTS) should be established in order to enhance the safety of navigation, to prevent the loss of life and damage to the environment. The first advanced radar surveillance system(LevelIII-VTS) was introduced in Pohang, Korea in 1993 and in 13 other ports later. While the hardware of Korea VTS is equal to that of an advanced country, the software, specially the operation manual, the recruitment and education of VTS operator, and the VTS service area is behind that of Russia, USA, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and others. After researching and investigating. the VTS equipment and service area of many countries, and analyzing the IMO regulations relevant to VTS and the traffic pattern and accident of Pohang port, the most efficient VTS service area should be established in Pohang. According to the analysis of the preceding studies and research on VTS, the worldwide VTS areas are recognized under the following conditions: First, the service area should be extended over at least radar coverage taking into account of traffic flow, traffic density, the degree of danger to navigation and harbour condition in order to provide all possible services. Second, the established service area should be subdivided and systematized to render reliable VTS services, such as the allocation of VHF frequency and reporting procedure in each area. In conclusion, the VTS service area of Pohang must be established and operated over 10 miles from shore(radar site) covering the radar coverage, so as to include the area of traffic congestion and high density traffic flow.
