Secondary Code Determination and Signal Processing Results of GIOVE-B E5a (GIOVE-B 위성 E5a Secondary Code 결정 및 신호처리 결과)

  • GIOVE-B is the second experimental Galileo satellite for the Galileo In-Orbit Validation, which was launched by a Soyuz/Fregat rocket departing from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 27 April and now operated successfully. This paper presents the results obtained from processing of the E5a signal transmitted from the GIOVE-B. The acquisition and tracking of the data and pilot channels are performed by the E5a software receiver implemented by ETRI. Moreover, the paper suggests the GIOVE-B E5a-I/E5a-Q secondary code, which is determined by analyzing the correlation output of the primary correlator using the primary code.

QZSS L5 Signal Processing Results in Korea (한국에서 QZSS 위성의 L5 신호처리 결과)

  • Launch of the first Quasi-Zentih Satellite System (QZSS) satellite, dubbed Michibiki, took place September 11, 2010 and technical and application verification of the satellite is being carried out. This paper presents the results obtained from processing of the L5 signal transmitted from the QZSS satellite. The QZSS L5 signal is collected in ETRI, Korea. And then, the acquisition and tracking are performed by the L5 software receiver implemented by ETRI. The tracking loop of FLL, PLL, and DLL, the EPL correlator output, and the C/No output results show that the QZSS L5 signal is normally processed. Finally, the paper demonstrates that the QZSS L5 signal could be used as GPS satellite based augmentation system in Korea as well as Japan.

  • As an enhancement to increase mapping speed of the current ALMA TP array, development of a focal plane array system working at ultra wide frequency range of 275-500 GHz with GPU-based software spectrometers has been carried out since 2015. Major progresses on such component development as wideband DSB mixers, a profiled corrugated horn, receiver optics, LO system and GPU-based spectrometer are reviewed with brief introduction to implication of ALMA 2030 for technical implementation.

  • In the guided missile and unmanned vehicle system, the navigation system is one of the most important components. Recently, low-cost effective smart projectiles and guided bomb are being developed using MEMS based navigation system which has high-G, low-cost and small size. In this paper, locally developed MEMS based GPS/INS integrated navigation system will be introduced in comparison with the state of the art of MEMS based navigation system. And technical design and development method is described to satisfy the required performance of GPS receiver, MEMS inertial sensor assembly, navigation computer and software.

  • We studied the prototypal developments of Plastic Cortex Stimulator (PCS) for stroke patients. The PC sends the stimulation parameters (amplitude, pulse width, cycle, etc.) to the transmitter ZigBee module through serial port. The receiver ZigBee module generates stimulation waveform. The generated output can be controlled by the PC program. Further study can be expanded to portable handset such as PDA using ZigBee. The wireless control of PCS with the handset can help the tele-rehabilitation.

  • train radio system used for shinkansen in japan has been 18 years since it was opened in 1982 and grown old. Analogue train radio is short of the number of lines and can't cope with the needs for the new high speed data transmission by 1,200 bps. The construction to renew the Tohoku - Joethu shinkansen train radio system(shinkansen train radio system) with digital method started from 2000 in JREast Digital method makes it possible to improve the quality of radio transmission, reliability of the network and every device, the speed and capacity of transmission and to be more efficient maintenance by introducing the latest IT technology. This paper will consider synchronization between base station. diversity method. software receiver, mobile high speed digital radio system, high reliability LAN introduced as technologies supporting these.

  • This paper proposes an ultrasonic location system based on the spread spectrum principle. Though there are several conventional ultrasonic systems, the proposed system is the first one that combines spread spectrum and amplitude modulation principles. The proposed ultrasonic location system is advantageous in that it can improve positioning accuracy and detection sensitivity by the spread spectrum principle, it simplifies transmitter and receiver circuits, and it is easy to upgrade its performance by modifying only the software functionalities. By several real data experiments, the advantage and performance of the proposed location system is demonstrated.

  • NIC@E is the software developed by authors. The program provides the noise level in outdoors due to various noise source types : construction machines including blast sources, railroad vehicles and automobiles. It operates in the Windows system. In this paper, a highway traffic noise has been evaluated using various types of approach : Ray-tracing method, NIRI method, JAS method. In order to compare the noise estimation performance for various models, a measurement is conducted on a 8 lane express highway at the distance of 25 m and 50 m from the lane. The result shows that the ray tracing and JAS model predict the measured value well within 2dB deviaton. The NIRI model, however, underestimates the highway noise level, as the distance between the source and receiver increases.

GPS Application in Investigating Land Application of Animal Waste (GPS를 이용한 축분퇴비의 농지환원 실태조사)

  • A portable GPS receiver and a navigation software were used to investigate land application practices of manure composts. The field investigation indicated that most of the land application of manure composts were observed before April. Plowing for incorporation of manure with soil were continued from the middle of April. The results also revealed that over 60% of the farms were within 1 km from livestock farms from which manure composts were transported. Most of the farms having land application were dry field rather than paddies, Some of fields located near livestock farms frequently experience over-application of manure composts. It seems to have been difficult to complete the investigation in this study without the Gps/navigation system. The GPS/navigation system will become an essential tool in field investigations such as ecological/environmental monitoring works that require repeated observation at a number of sites.

  • 선박의 항해 도중 GPS 위성을 이용하여 위치를 추정하는 방법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 재밍으로 인하여 항해 중에 간헐적인 GPS 신호의 획득은 가능하나 지속적인 신호 추적이 불가하여 GPS 위성의 코드 위상 측정치만 얻을 수 있는 상황을 가정하였다. 동 시간대의 기준국에서 수신한 항법 메시지와 신호 획득 과정에서 측정된 코드 위상 만을 이용하여 GPS C/A 코드의 반복 횟수를 정확히 추정하고 대략적인 위치 해를 계산하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다.
