고강도 저합금강의 저주기 피로특성 (Low Cycle Fatigue Characteristics of High Strength Low Alloy Steel)

  • Low cycle fatigue tests are performed on high strength low alloy steels that be developed for submarine material. The relation between absorbed plastic strain energy and numbers of cycle to failure is examined in order to predict the low cycle fatigue life of structural steels by using plastic strain energy method. The cyclic properties are determined by a least square fit techniques. The life predicted by the plastic strain energy method is found to coincide with experiment data and results obtained from the Coffin-Manson method. Also the cyclic behavior of structural steels is characterized by cyclic softening with increasing number of cycle at room temperature. Especially, low cycle fatigue characteristics and microstructural changes of structural steels are investigated according to changing tempering temperatures. In the case of PFS steels, the $\varepsilon$-Cu is formed in 550C of tempering temperature and enhances the low cycle fatigue properties.

  • 일반화된 van der Waals류의 3차 상태방정식에 사용되는 인력 및 반발력 상수항을 온도의존 함수로 나타내는 core-softening 이론을 도입하여 van der Waals 유체의 비이상적 열팽창, 즉 밀도 비이상성을 설명하였다. 온도의존 함수로는 온도의 증가에 따라 hard-core의 직경피 줄어드는 $db_r/dT_r<0$을 만족하는 형태와, 분자간의 반발력이 강해지는 $da_r/dT_r>0$을 만족하는 식을 사용하였다. 온도에 따른 밀도 최대점은 전자의 경우 전 범위의 압력하에서 나타났으며 후자의 경우 유체에 장력(tension)이 가해질때만 존재하였다.

  • High temperature deformation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with a lamellar colony microstructure was investigated by hot compression and torsion tests. The torsion and compression tests were carried out under a wide range of temperatures and strain rates with true strain up to 2 and 0.7, respectively. The processing maps were generated on the basis of compression and torsion test data and using the principles of dynamic materials modeling (DMM). The shapes of the strain-stress curves in alpha-beta region and processing maps obtained on the two different tests have been compared with a view to evaluate the effect of the microstructure evolution on the flow softening behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with a lamellar colony microstructure.

  • High temperature plastic deformation behavior of Al 6061 alloy was characterized by hot torsion test. The Al 6061 alloy deformed continuously in the temperature range of 400∼550$^{\circ}C$, and strain rate range of 0.05∼5/sec. The softening mechanism of Al 6061 alloy was dynamic recrystallization and identified by hyperbolic sine law and zener-Hollmon parameter. The evolution of grain size and deformation resistance were calculated by the relationships of deformation variables.

습열 조리 조건에 따른 방사선 조사 건고사리의 연화도 (Effect of Gamma Irradiation on the Softening of Dried Fernbrake at Different Moist-Heating Conditions)

  • 건고사리에 Co-60 감마선을 0, 3, 5, 7 kGy로 달리하여 조사한 후 습열 조리 조건에 따른 연화정도를 분석하였다. 건고사리의 경도는 5 kGy이상의 조사선량에서 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 습열 조리 조건에 따른 고사리의 경도는 조사선량이 높을수록 대조군에 비하여 유의적으로 감소하였다. 고사리의 경도가 대조군에 비하여 $50\%$ 감소되는 시간인 $DT_{50}$은 조사선량이 높을수록 단축되었다. 즉, $60^{\circ}C$에서 조리시 대조군은 23분, 5및 7 kGy 조사군은 $2.2\~5.0$ 분이었다. 건고사리 습열 조리시 연화에 따른 활성화 에너지는 조사선량이 높을수록 크게 낮아져 대조군은 4.30 kcal/mole, 5 및 7 kGy 조사군은 $1.85\~1.88 kcal/mol$이었다. 또한, 조사선량이 높을수록 일정온도에서 습열 조리 시간 경과에 따른 수분함량, 부피 증가율, 수화 복원력은 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으나 관능검사 시 이취 및 냄새에 대한 점수는 대조군과 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 이상의 결과로부터 건조 채소류에 적정 선량의 방사선을 조사할 경우 조리시 재수화 및 연화에 필요한 시간 및 에너지를 단축시킬 수 있었다.

염화칼슘을 이용한 시금치의 연화방지 연구 (Study on the Prevention of Spinach Softening Using Calcium Chloride)

  • The purpose of this study was to prevent excessive softening of seasoned spinach by heating and freezing through the pre-heating treatment in calcium chloride solution. The pre-heating temperature was set at 60℃, which supports the highest activity of pectinesterase around 60℃. Pre-heating spinach in calcium solution does not affect the chromaticity characteristics of spinach leaves and significantly improves its texture compared to conventional blanching only and pre-heating in water. The improvement of the firmness is related to the formation of strongly cross-linkages between carboxyl groups and Ca2+ by the action of the pectinesterase in spinach. For reheated spinach, the firmness of calcium chloride treated stems were 37.80~44.44 kg, and the control was 28.73 kg. The firmness of calcium chloride treated leaves was 19.73~40.79 kg, and the control was 9.63 kg. Additionally, the total aerobic bacteria in the fresh samples were 3.25~3.99 log CFU/g and 1.97~2.72 log CFU/g in the reheated samples. And the total coliform was not detected in the reheated samples. Considering the color, texture, microbial characteristics and taste quality, the optimum pre-treatment conditions to prevent excessive softening of spinach were 3% calcium chloride solution and 15minutes of treatment.

  • The objective of this study is to adjust the roll gap fur the dimension accuracy of bar in hot bar rolling process considering roll wear. In this study hot bar rolling processes fur round and oval passes have been investigated. In order to predict the roll wear, the wear model is reformulated as an incremental from and then wear depth of roll is calculated at each deformation step on contact area using the results of finite element analysis, such as relative sliding velocity and normal pressure at contact area. Archard's wear model was applied to predict the roll wear. To know the effects of thermal softening of DCI (Ductile Cast Iron) roll material according to operating conditions, high temperature micro hardness test is executed and a new wear model has been proposed by considering the thermal softening of DCI roll expressed in terms of the main tempering curve. The new technique developed in this study for adjusting roll gap can give more systematically and economically feasible means to improve the dimension accuracy of bar with full usefulness and generality.

  • Laser assisted machining (LAM) has been researched in order to machine the silicon nitride ceramics economically and effectively. LAM is an effective machining method by local heating of the cutting part to the softening temperature of the silicon nitride using laser beam. When silicon nitride ceramics is heated using a laser beam, the surface of silicon nitride ceramic is softened, oxidized and decomposed. And then surface hardness is decreased. Through machining in low viscosity and hardness conditions, silicon nitride was machined effectively and the life span of tool was increased. The plastic deformation was occurred due to softening of amorphous YSiAlON above $ 1,000^{\circ}C$. Transgranular fracture of ${\beta}-Si_3N_4$ was occurred when YSiAlON was not softened, but mostly intergranular fracture was occurred by the plastic deformation of softened YSiAlON.
